About the property

House, 1 Bedroom + Other (See Description), 1 Baths (Sleeps 2-4)

An authentic restored two story adobe compound located on historic Ledoux Street, Casa de Flores Navajo Casita offers a peaceful quiet location within minutes of walking to the Taos plaza, John Dunn Plaza shops and famous Bent Street with all its' shops and eateries. The house is just steps away from the renowned Harwood Museum, the Blumenschein Museum, and the R.C. Gorman gallery.

The Navajo Casita was formerly the art storage building for RC Gorman. Restored in 2013-14, parts of this home date back 200-300 years. The home has been completely renovated with new windows, floors, kitchen and bathroom.

This unit is ideal for a couple or family as the bathroom is located immediately off the upstairs bedroom.

Often painted by local artists, this charming adobe has all the conveniences of home! Decorated in tasteful New Mexican decor, the home has original wood vigas & ceilings, gas kiva fireplace, & beautiful talavera tiles.

Casa de Flores Navajo Casita is a spacious one bedroom home, measuring 1,200 sf. The bright, cheerful upstairs bedroom features a king size bed and new bathroom. The kitchen and bathroom are new and the home is also equipped with satelite television and high speed DSL internet service.

Casa de Flores Navajo Casita can be rented with the Casa de Flores #61210 and Gallery Casitas #428403 next door to accomodate larger groups.

The entrance to Ledoux St is very small and narrow and will not accomodate RV's or campers. Casa de Flores Navajo Casita has one dedicated parking space in front.

Charming, unique, tastefully furnished Adobe structure with updated kitchen.

Even though this is a casita with uneven floors, low ceilings, and an odd floor plan, it has a fully-equipped modern kitchen, plenty of electrical outlets, and lots of natural light. The bed and furniture are comfortable and there is beautiful artwork in every room.

With daily temperature swings of Taos in October, from freezing to above 70F, the casita was always comfortable. It is centrally-located to all things Taos. I found it quiet. I stayed alone and I felt secure.

A major drawback to this property is that there is only one bathroom, upstairs, off the one bedroom, climbing a steep staircase of 15 steps. I didn't want to drag my suitcases upstairs, but there was plenty of closet and drawer space upstairs. I wouldn't recommend potty-training toddlers. It is a refurbished casita, so the rooms are small, but a perfect size for one to four. The table seats six comfortably.

If Taos weren't so far from Los Angeles, I would definitely stay here again. I enjoyed the folk art and the gorgeous tile work in the kitchen and bath.

The kitchen had every appliance I needed, including a dishwasher. This casita is not furnished with someone's cast offs and mismatched silverware. The owners put a lot of thought into providing everything needed for the cook, including unexpected items like a lemon squeezer, crock pot, bake ware, and even a footed cake plate. I didn't, but you could bake a turkey.

Not being a fan of spicy New Mexican cuisine, I bought groceries a short distance away at Albertson's and cooked all my meals at the casita; but there is a microwave, many restaurants, and a McDonalds nearby, if you don't want to cook.

TV signal was strong and clear on the flat screens. I was able to do on-line course-work with the Internet connection and all of my electronics charged just fine. I brought my own reading material, but there is a small library of art books. DVDs were available, but I didn't use them.

The bathroom has a big shower only, but it's beautiful. The sink looks like hammered copper. Beautiful tinware mirrors.

Bring your own shampoo, but there are plenty of cleaning supplies and an efficient stackable washer/dryer, with soap and dryer sheets provided.

I only communicated by e-mail, but I found Helen to be responsive and helpful.

Ledoux is a quick left after the Byzantium restaurant and is easily missed. It is narrow, winding, and doesn't look like a street. GPS and Mapquest are not helpful. Follow Helen's directions.

Wonderful vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time renting the Casita on Ledoux for two weeks in August and we will be back again. The house is immaculate, charming, and so convenient to the Plaza. We can walk to shops and restaurants! Helen is wonderful to work with and we would recommend this vacation rental home to anyone.

Lovely place to stay in Taos

  • 5 of 5

The casita is carefully and, with a quiet, elegant simplicity, decorated in a comfortable Southwestern feel. I looked at so many rental options that were over-the-top stereotypical, with wooden turquoise howling coyotes and cacti murals. This felt like home, for a lovely getaway for my wife and I. It is conveniently located just a block-and-a-half from the Taos Plaza, with its shops and surrounding restaurants, and the street where it sits, Ledoux, is itself an attraction, with two museums and at least five galleries and an Aveda hair salon, should the need arise, along its block-long length. We arrived in the midst of record heat, and being from Oklahoma, I just assumed it would be air-conditioned. It is not. But we discovered few places in Taos, besides some commercial buildings, seem to be. The locals told us the heat was unusual, and one clerk said she had slept the night before with her daughter in a tent in her yard to seek some relief. This home does come with "swamp coolers," which are large devices that are filled with water and blow cooled air out. It's never "air conditioner" cool, but it does provide some relief, and overnight, the temperatures dropped into the 50's and the home was pleasantly cool. The only drawback to "swamp coolers" is that they're noisy, and they can interfere with the peaceful surroundings of the house and the quiet street on which it sits. My wife especially appreciated that the home was clean upon arrival. No dust, no trash, no stained or torn bed linens or towels. The bathroom was spotless, the kitchen looks like new. We originally thought we'd stay in Santa Fe and take a day trip to Taos. We did just the opposite when I came across this home on VRBO, and we're glad we did. Just a very charming place to stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review and for your note as well. We are so pleased that you enjoyed the decor and features the Navajo Casita and that location suited your needs. You're right, Taos can get warm during the day but nights are normally very fresh and cool. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your vacation in Taos and hope to welcome you again when you return! Cordially, Lisa and Dave

Great location

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed staying at Casa de Flores. It is very well located, on a quiet one way street a few blocks from the Plaza. One of the best features is the beautiful and comfortable bedroom on the 2nd floor with windows on 3 sides and a door which opens onto a balcony on the 4th side. Delightful. We didn't cook but the kitchen seemed well equipped. Everything was as promised and it was very easy to work with Helen.
