Fantastic Family Getaway Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a 3 day Easter weekend at this property and we we loved it! Location right on the water is fantastic, with gorgeous views, peaceful and quiet setting, yet not very far from many attractions in the area. This is a very pleasant residential area, the home is very spacious, clean and updated, and well equipped with just about everything you need, from a large screen tv and blue ray player, to a beautiful kitchen with all the necessary tools for cooking, including a barbecue on the back patio. We made Easter dinner at this house and had a great family get-together. Excellent views form just about every room, and lots of sunlight from the large windows. The kids enjoyed seeing the seals playing in the water, and we viewed eagles on the island offshore using the telescope in the living room. We did our grocery shopping at the nearby Quality Foods, and we even found a ranch that sold locally grown lamb and local seafood within a 10 minute drive.

This was a relaxing vacation, and we would not hesitate to book this home again in the future.

Wonderful Location and Property

  • 5 of 5

We spent a full week here at this property and we were very pleased with the location. We watched animals and boats come and go. We listened to the sea lion slap his tail upon the water all throughout the day. We loved to sit outside at night and listen the waves hit the shoreline. The telescope on a tripod was a feature that we enjoyed using very much!

The house was beautiful and well equipped. There was nothing that we were in need of that wasn't located on site. The spacious living room was great, however, we also enjoyed the sitting room off the kitchen for just sitting and chatting the evenings away.

We would recommend this property to anyone and we will to all our friends who decide to visit Vancouver Island. We never got to see everything we wanted to see, so we will be back.

Thank you Ava and Graeme for opening your home to us! It made our vacation......

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We spent one week in this beautiful vacation home with our three kids age 16,14 and 7. Coming all the way from Germany, it was certainly worth it!! We had a fantastic stay. The house is very clean and well equipped. We enjoyed the hot tub, bonfires at the beach at sunset and the beautiful views.

We would love to come back and certainly would recommend this home to friends.

Heaven on the Island

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at this lovely home with our two boys- age 17 and 20. The house is beautiful with views of the ocean everywhere you look. Having four bathrooms was so handy and everyone got their own bedroom.

Perfect location for Hwy 19 to all touristy places but far enough from all the tourists when you return home!

We ended up doing all our food shopping at Quality Foods right off of Northwest Bay Road.

We stargazed from the hot tub and watched cruise ships sail by... there is a resident seal we named Lucky that came to visit every morning and night RIGHT in FRONT of the house. We saw deer; rabbits; turkey vultures; eagles; and many birds flying and diving into the ocean for their food.

The water was too cold for me to go past my knees but my sons went in and enjoyed themselves...I waited until we went to RATHTREVOR BEACH and the tide came in over the warm sand...ahhh heaven!

Check out BEACHCOMBER BAY in the Nanoose area...beautiful homes on the peninsula and a nice walk out to a quiet beach where we did geocaching.

QUALICUM BEACH: -ate fish and chips at the BEACH HUT...buy their soft ice cream flavors...good deals there.

PARKSVILLE: Sandcastles... & listening to the bands on the boardwalk was so nice and relaxing!

COOMBS: bc everyone told us they had goats on the roof...yes they did...but the best part was the ice cream restaurant there...the flavour selection! WOW! AND they had a store that sold every item you would ever look for. I bought 225 dollars worth of wood toys for my workplace....but there was food; fresh; frozen; and all kinds of pastas; salmon(we hoarded the candied salmon; fresh Norwegian cheeses; and a loaf of bread to eat a lunch on the road!).

We loved it there so much we went back another day!

FANNY BAY: to see the seals lounging on the logs. Winter time the california sea lions hang out there barking...take binoculars.

HORN LAKE CAVES: I am a big chicken of the dark and tiny spaces but I wanted to try caving so we went on the 2 hour tour in the RIVERBEND Cave. You walk 25 min up to the cave (being out of shape we were sweating to death and huffing and puffing)...we didn't find the 8 degrees in the cave cold at all! BUT do upgrade your helmets to the stronger lighting...so glad we did.

CATHEDRAL GROVE PARK..800 year old trees, walk both sides of the road, easy pathways well maintained. Take water.

Graeme and Ava...thank you for beautiful memories we shared with our children in your stunning home!

Our stay in Nanoose Bay

  • 5 of 5

Graeme and Ava:

We were more than pleased with our stay in your house in Nanoose Bay a few weeks ago. The house was spacious and clean, the beds and chairs were comfortable and good, and there was more than enough equipment everywhere to meet our needs. It was nice to find a few basic spices and sugar in the kitchen, so we did not have to go and buy everything. We enjoyed the hot tub and also, of course, the beautiful views.

I went to Nanoose bay with 2 other families and it was amazing. This place was just minutes away from Fairwinds Golf Course and it was one of the nicest courses ive played at. This rental came equipped with 2 bikes so we biked around and enjoyed the amazing view. The first day was sunny so we bbq'd and just watched the sunset. We built a bon fire at night and the guys stayed up so late they almost saw the sunrise! The kids were able to play around in the garden and go down to the beach which was right in our backyard. When it rained, we stayed in and cooked up a storm. The kitchen was equipped with everything including a rice cooker. Bonus! Overall the location was perfect. Great get away but close enough that you can get groceries within 20 mins. Thanks for letting us stay in your lovely home.
