Even better than expected
Our family of 4 adults and children aged 2 and 4 had a wonderful
7 days in this lovely home. It is completely furnished with everything
one could want for a perfect vacation and get together.
The beds were very comfortable we enjoyed having everyone

The location was perfect being right on the water and having beautiful
It is close to Rathtrevor beach which is quite a tidal phenomenon.
Also close to good food shopping in Parksville and Goats on a Roof

We all loved it.
Thanks so much Graeme and Ava.

Perfect Setting for Rest and Reflection
Just after dawn on the first morning when the sea was silvery and still as a mirror, I saw a humpback whale spouting off shore. It rolled sideways in the water and slapped the surface repeatedly with one of its long pale pectoral fins. The slapping and spouting continued for several minutes, rippling and churning the shimmery surface, then the whale dove down and the sea became still again.
During our week-long stay, we saw orcas, a seal (I'm certain it was the same seal that kept coming back, popping up to stare at us expectantly when we shouted hello to it), a sea lion and many eagles. One particularly hot day, we went down to the backyard beach for a swim and saw starfish, anemones and a king crab. We spent several cool evenings in the hot tub listening to the seabirds while the setting sun lit up the sea and sky with orange and gold.
The house was beautifully decorated, well provisioned and clean. The furniture and beds were modern and comfortable, and everything worked as it should. The owners provided many extras in the well-equipped kitchen for the convenience of their guests. There were even birthday candles in one of the drawers, and a rack of herbs and spices.
Our only regret was that we had to leave at the end of the week.
A beautiful property in an ideal loacation. Everything was perfect - even the neighbors were friendly. We had a great family vacation.
A Great Family Getaway
This was a fantastic location for our family vacation, from the walk-on waterfront, and gorgeous views and sunsets, to the open, spacious and well equipped home. Going to sleep each night and waking every morning to the sound of waves breaking on the beach was an absolute pleasure and something we are now sorely missing.
We would highly recommend this property and are definitely looking forward to booking it again for a future vacation.
Fantastic Family Getaway Weekend
We just returned from a 3 day Easter weekend at this property and we we loved it! Location right on the water is fantastic, with gorgeous views, peaceful and quiet setting, yet not very far from many attractions in the area. This is a very pleasant residential area, the home is very spacious, clean and updated, and well equipped with just about everything you need, from a large screen tv and blue ray player, to a beautiful kitchen with all the necessary tools for cooking, including a barbecue on the back patio. We made Easter dinner at this house and had a great family get-together. Excellent views form just about every room, and lots of sunlight from the large windows. The kids enjoyed seeing the seals playing in the water, and we viewed eagles on the island offshore using the telescope in the living room. We did our grocery shopping at the nearby Quality Foods, and we even found a ranch that sold locally grown lamb and local seafood within a 10 minute drive.
This was a relaxing vacation, and we would not hesitate to book this home again in the future.
Heaven on the Island
We spent a week at this lovely home with our two boys- age 17 and 20. The house is beautiful with views of the ocean everywhere you look. Having four bathrooms was so handy and everyone got their own bedroom.
Perfect location for Hwy 19 to all touristy places but far enough from all the tourists when you return home!
We ended up doing all our food shopping at Quality Foods right off of Northwest Bay Road.
We stargazed from the hot tub and watched cruise ships sail by... there is a resident seal we named Lucky that came to visit every morning and night RIGHT in FRONT of the house. We saw deer; rabbits; turkey vultures; eagles; and many birds flying and diving into the ocean for their food.
The water was too cold for me to go past my knees but my sons went in and enjoyed themselves...I waited until we went to RATHTREVOR BEACH and the tide came in over the warm sand...ahhh heaven!
Check out BEACHCOMBER BAY in the Nanoose area...beautiful homes on the peninsula and a nice walk out to a quiet beach where we did geocaching.
QUALICUM BEACH: -ate fish and chips at the BEACH HUT...buy their soft ice cream flavors...good deals there.
PARKSVILLE: Sandcastles... & listening to the bands on the boardwalk was so nice and relaxing!
COOMBS: bc everyone told us they had goats on the roof...yes they did...but the best part was the ice cream restaurant there...the flavour selection! WOW! AND they had a store that sold every item you would ever look for. I bought 225 dollars worth of wood toys for my workplace....but there was food; fresh; frozen; and all kinds of pastas; salmon(we hoarded the candied salmon; fresh Norwegian cheeses; and a loaf of bread to eat a lunch on the road!).
We loved it there so much we went back another day!
FANNY BAY: to see the seals lounging on the logs. Winter time the california sea lions hang out there barking...take binoculars.
HORN LAKE CAVES: I am a big chicken of the dark and tiny spaces but I wanted to try caving so we went on the 2 hour tour in the RIVERBEND Cave. You walk 25 min up to the cave (being out of shape we were sweating to death and huffing and puffing)...we didn't find the 8 degrees in the cave cold at all! BUT do upgrade your helmets to the stronger lighting...so glad we did.
CATHEDRAL GROVE PARK..800 year old trees, walk both sides of the road, easy pathways well maintained. Take water.
Graeme and Ava...thank you for beautiful memories we shared with our children in your stunning home!
