If you look at a map of the San Francisco peninsula, we are in the center of it. Walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf, North Beach, Chinatown, Union Square, the Marina, the Financial District, and more. This is a small refuge in the heart of the city, steps away from the Cable Car and the Crooked Street.
While the apartment is small it has everything you will need to enjoy a comfortable stay. A fully equipped kitchen, cozy seating area with small dining space and comfortably sized bath. You will be happy to have such a cozy place to return to after a day of adventures in the city.
We're happy to share our little 'piece of the rock' in San Francisco with you. We're two married professionals from New York and Hawaii who met here and fell in love with SF.
Russian Hill is just about as central as you can get in San Francisco. Our house is close to public transportation, and walking distance to much of the town.
I needed a place to stay that was close to my daughter's apartment and this fit the bill! Relatives stayed here in August and they confirmed the close proximity, so I booked. Sabrina was very responsive to my questions and made the arrangements to book easy.
The apartment is tiny, but it was comfortable and fit my needs. (I really only needed a place to sleep and shower.) There were some nice touches, like shampoo and soap in the bathroom and a hair dryer that was available, as I forgot mine.
We hope to stay again on a subsequent visit. Thanks again!
The location is great. Sabrina was very responsive and helpful. The place is relatively small, but clean and located in a central but quite place. I would highly recommend this apartment for vacation in San Francisco.
Yes the appartment is small but met all our needs for our visit. Fishermans Warf, Alcatraz Ferry and China Town are all within a 15-20 minute walk. The Hyde St. cable car stops at the top of the block. We had a car and had no trouble parking free on the street over the weekend and a pay garage was within walking distance for the only half day we had to pay for. Would definatly stay here again.
My wife and I were enjoying our first visit to SF and stayed at the Filbert Street apartment for 3 days and 4 nights. Pictures are accurate. Working with Sabrina was easy - we picked up the keys and entered thru a charming gate into the staircase and then to the apartment. As other reviewers state, the bathroom is quite small - but it did the job. The bed was comfortable and featured a TV w/cable that was positioned so you could watch it from bed. Closet was large so you could hang your clothes up instead of leaving them in luggage. Nice views out the windows. Small kitchen had everything we needed. Just an FYI, no washer/dryer. A little sitting room is also located at the front of the apartment.
Pros: Great location within walking distance of the Powell Line cable car. Great view east towards Coit Tower, especially at night - you can see the east bay (Oakland) bridge lit up with moving lights. It is a pretty easy walk down Russian Hill to the Wharf where we rented bikes and spent the day riding over the Golden Gate Bridge then down to Salsalito. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance, mostly towards the Nob Hill neighborhood. We also walked over to China Town. Rode the cable car everywhere else - get the three day pass and enjoy the ride. Please note, to ride to the Wharf, catch the cable car at the top of Filbert St. To head downtown, go up Filbert, take a left down to the next street. Good price compared to other options.
Cons: Could use a new coat of paint. Street parking is at a premium so better not to rent a car. The street is extremely steep - stairs on the sidewalks :) which we enjoyed - especially watching tourist start to drive down the street, then hesitate, then take the plunge, lol. But it is a safe steep. We rented a car our last day to drive to LA and I had no problem driving it down the hill and backing it into the little driveway to load our luggage.
Summary: We loved staying at the Filbert St. apartment and will use it again next time we are out there. Conveniently located and full of charm, this apartment and the surrounding neighborhood is a cool option while in San Francisco.
This was my first time renting a place and the experience was so stress-free and enjoyable. I vacationed in SF for a week by myself and this rental was perfect for me. Another person can fit comfortably as well. The rental is very clean and had everything you would need for a nice stay. The response time from the owners was outstanding and they were always available by either email or phone to answer any and all of my questions. The street where the house is located was so cute and safe and that hill gave me a good workout! I did not use or need a car for anything. Public transportation was easy to get to especially the cable car that stops 2 mins. up the hill. There are great restaurants within walking distance or even a $5 uber ride away. Fisherman's Warf is a nice 15 minute walk (downhill) or you can take the cable car a few stops and walk the entire strip. Union Square, Chinatown and Little Italy are also on the cable car route. I definitely would recommend staying here for a single person or a couple for a long weekend or a week vacation. I can't wait to stay here again!
Stayed in this small apartment while in town on business in January ( every hotel was booked due to a big conference). Great residential neighborhood, comfortable bed with huge walk in closet and adequate kitchen with plenty of coffee and a bottle of wine! Bathroom is tiny but outfitted nicely. Only criticism is the small living room could use a more comfortable chair for those who need to work at the table and a more comfortable love seat/sofa for lounging. Plan to book again.
A small grocery store and laundromat are located on Hyde street less than 2 blocks away
