Overview

About the property

Two bedroom, Two bath, with cruiser bikes and large garage

Cute Craftsman in the quiet River West area two blocks from the Deschutes River at First Street Rapids park. An easy 5 minute walk to downtown or take the river trail for a nice stroll or bike cruise anytime. Enjoy all that downtown has to offer: shops, galleries, restaurants or head on out to to Bend's famous breweries or mountain bike trails. The Deschutes River with Drake Park, hiking and biking trails, kayaking and tubing are just a short walk away also and the Mt. Bachelor ski resort is only a 30 minutes drive. Your stay includes the use of two cruiser bikes with helmets and locks, a perfect way to explore the area. In the winter, you'll appreciate the large garage to store you skis, fat bikes, snowshoes and keep your car ready to go! We also provide riding and hiking maps of the area and would be happy to suggest riding trails that fit your abilities if asked. Bring your kayak and test your skills at First Street Rapids.

The Saginaw home has two bedrooms and two bathrooms so you won't need to share a bathroom-a rare find in original Bend Craftsman homes.

Other amenities include a washer/dryer, large refrigerator, TV with basic cable. The smart TV also has internet capabilities to access your Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime or other subscription services-just log in. Enjoy the Charcoal BBQ and window a/c in the living room during the summer. The master bedroom has a comfortable queen size bed and a private bathroom. The second bedroom has a comfortable queen bed and access to the yard. In the winter months, the beds have down blankets with additional blankets for use if desired. There is a desk in the office area in case you need to bring your work with you. There is free high speed wireless internet available for use during your stay.

In the warm months, enjoy the outside seating area and BBQ. The organic garden might have something to harvest during your stay!

The Saginaw Home is kept immaculately clean for all our guests and as of Oct 2017, pets are not allowed on the premises at any time.

Please check our calendar for available nights. Come be our guests and have fun in Bend!

About Pat Mullen

Bend has something for everyone! We're avid mountain bikers and skiers and love great beer as well. The hiking and biking trails, river and friendly people make Bend a truly unique place and it's perfect for adventurous people.

Pat Mullen purchased this house in 2012

Why Pat Mullen chose Bend

I fell in love with this craftsman home back in 2012. It needed a little TLC but I knew that I would love the location. I can walk to work, downtown or go running on the river trail within minutes. There is always room to park and it is quiet in the evenings. The neighbors are wonderful. The house is kept very clean which is very important to me!

What makes this house unique

Location, location, location! This home is close to downtown and the river but without the parking headaches and noise of the Historic District or Galveston area.

Great location

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this house. It was warm in the bedrooms without air conditioning, but we managed with fans. The location was great with access to running/walking trails and parks.

Owner's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed the trail access. Bend is warm in the summers as it is the high desert so I'm glad you were able to use the air conditioner (not often found in vacation rentals) along with keeping the curtains closed and windows shut during the hottest part of the day to keep the home even cooler.

Very clean and well equipped

  • 4 of 5

This was our first experience with Home Away in Bend. The Saginaw house is extremely well kept and well furnished with kitchen and linen items. The whole property is very clean.

Our only reservations for returning are two-fold. There is only one room air conditioner, which keeps the living room at a good temp, but the master bedroom is not as cool. The other surprise is how busy Archie Briggs road was.

The property is near town - nice - and comfortable for 2 couples.

Owner's Response: I regret that it was quite warm during your stay here in the high desert. With the living room air conditioner and fans in each bedroom, we have never had a complaint about the temperature previously. Bend temperatures can swing from very cold in the winter to quite warm in the summer. Aubrey can be busy during peak drive times when commuters are on the road but it is normally quiet at night. The home is located in one of the most quiet areas for vacation rentals as it is not in the extremely busy Galveston corridor. Fortunately you were not staying in that area! I appreciate your feedback and hope you find something better suited for your family on your next vacation to Bend.

Great Stay...

  • 5 of 5

We loved our visit to Bend, and the home was perfect for our needs and really clean and cute. Beds are really comfortable, I slept great! The location was great, and short walk to town for all of our needs. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you Pat for a great stay!

Great location, comfy beds, darling cottage.

  • 5 of 5

This was just the house and location we needed to spend a few central Oregon golf days with our friends. We played cards on the private patio after walking to dinner in old town Bend. Thank you for sharing your cute cottage in a nice quiet neighborhood.

Nice

  • 5 of 5

We had a nice time at your cottage. Great walks along the river. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the road noise. Everything else made up for that. Thanks.

Comfy house close to town + dog friendly

  • 5 of 5

House is about .5 miles from downtown, perfect distance to get a little walk in through a cute older neighborhood. Fenced side yard for the dogs was nice too! House was very tidy and beds were comfortable. Would stay here again!
