I have lived right here in Santa Monica for 30 years and LOVE this area!, and am thoroughly familiar with this city as well as the Greater Los Angeles Area.
We are located in just the right distance to the beach, allowing for beautiful morning or evening walks, in cool clean air all year round. Without the heavy beach traffic and parking concerns.
We are in a very friendly and safe neighborhood, easy access also to shops, cafes, great food and entertainment.
We are also a short drive to the Santa Monica mountains which has many wonderful hikes leading to fabulous views of the coast and city.
Not to mention many of the City's other major attractions. Easy access to the local bus is just around the corner, which is 8 miles from LAX.
This was our 2nd stay at Kensington House. We love the location - midway between downtown Venice and Santa Monica - for its neighborhood charm and accessibility to the beach (about 1 mile), groceries, restaurants, retail, galleries and other services. This unit, attached to a lovely Craftsman home (the owner's residence), is small but cozy - it might be tight for three, but it was perfect for two. It was very clean, and comfortably furnished with quality linens, relatively new appliances, and a fully functional kitchen. Extended street parking can be a challenge in the area, so having a resident's permit during our stay was much appreciated, enabling us to walk or use public transit much of the time. Lorna, the owner, could not have been nicer or more helpful, responsive, and accommodating - from booking, to check in, to supplying the unit (niceties like Brita pitcher, replacement Keurig coffee, half-n-half, and clean towels mid-stay), to her great recommendations for restaurants and things to see/do. Some of our new favorite places were her suggestions. We had a wonderful stay and can't wait to return!
We have enjoyed Lorna's house very much! A nice, comfy and tidy house. Well prepared kitchen and bedroom. Great location, close to beach and grocery stores. Will definitely come back for more next year!
On your first approach to Lorna's home in Santa Monica, you are impressed with the amazing landscape! The plantings are a wonderful introduction to California. We travelled to Ca. primarily to visit our grandson at U.S.C.. We found that Lorna's home was very well located to visit
him, the Getty Museum, etc. Her home is also very well stocked, clean, and has enough space for 2-3 people.
We spent most of our time biking on the coastal trail. Since the home is less than a mile from the ocean, we were able to begin our rides
from the house. It is a magnificent trail, and we highly recommend it. We also highly recommend this home. We will definitely return to it on
future California trips.
we enjoyed our stay, the apartment was nicely cared for. Construction next door bit noisy, but quiet in the evenings, and spent most of the day at the beach. The distance from the beach further than anticipated, and with a 6 year old, not possible to walk.
great beach though, near the pier, amusement park.
Really sweet and well stocked home way from home. I had been out in LA for an extended run and due to the apartment being rented in the middle of my stay, had to depart. The best insight I can give is that when it when it was available again, I grabbed the booking. It's centrally located near the major highways in LA (you'll appreciate this if you know the traffic here) and also close to the beach and downtown Santa Monica.
Lorna has the place well stocked in the kitchen and on both occasions the cupboard had some of the essentials that otherwise saved me at the nearby Whole Foods.
As an added bonus since I was there for over a week on both occasions, she provided fresh towels after our first 3 days there. Another big plus is the parking permit (parking can be another LA mightmare) that comes with the rental.
The place is immaculate and laid out in a simple but smart manner. My son traveled with me and found the pull out futon very comfortable to sleep on. The bed in the master bedroom is also quite comfortable.
I've already asked about the next availability when I'm back in town as this little gem is worth it.
Sweet layout here. Kitchen was stocked with everything you need plus more. Very comfortable bed, reliable wifi, and restocking of towels after 3 days was an unexpected plus.
Very solid location close to beaches as well as the always busy LA highways. That's appreciated more when you're in town on biz.
Another big plus was the parking permit that came with the rental. That's not to be overlooked when spots are often a premium in LA.
A very solid place to stay with much more added value than many places in LA. Nice sized bathroom and closet and dresser space too. Highly recommend.
