KEMA Hornby Island - House - Waterfront with Views - Beach access under repair

Get away to Hornby Island, arguably one of the world’s most beautiful islands. Our home is an architect designed, full featured house with magnificent westerly views and surrounded by lush gardens.

Note to past guests: The following statement currently does not apply as a small landslide destroyed our current beach access and a stable new route is still under investigation - The house has access to our more or less private beach ideal for the exploration of tidal pools or just to enjoy the tranquility of the westerly vistas. Please note that we are a high bank property and that a number of flights of stairs must be taken to the waterfront with our deck.

Hornby Island is known for its beautiful beaches, its great hiking and mountain biking trails and the relaxed, artistic culture that is prevalent everywhere.

Most visitors enjoy Hornby during the summer months and it is perhaps a well kept secret that the best time to be on Hornby is anytime during the year. Even in the darker winter months the island offers wonderful relaxation potential and a plethora of things to do.

We welcome you during any season and hope that you will also come to love Hornby Island.

Lovely stay at KEMA House on Hornby Island

We very much enjoyed our stay at KEMA House on Hornby Island. The house was clean, comfortable, well-equipped and full of character. My kids enjoyed the playhouse out back and picking blackberries in the large yard. Martin was an excellent host, and very quick to reply to a couple of our queries during our stay. We hope to visit again in future!

We had a perfect time on Hornby. The house is beautiful, so much space with a lot of daylights. My kids did enjoy all the blackberries and deer around the house and my husband loved the outside shower. We’re really enjoyed it. For sure we’ll come back. Sunny May Getaway

What a splendid house. Bright, well equipped and full of books and tasteful décor. Enjoyed the sunny deck both on the porch and down below on the enchanted beach below. Will certainly return.

Lovely house

The house is spacious and lovely, equipped with all the essentials. Location is pefect, 1 minute drive from the ferry terminal and few minutes walk to the beach. We didn't get to meet the owner, but the cleaner Andrea helped us open the key lock and suggested a few places to visit which was very helpful. The island is beautiful, would love to come back in the summer to visit wineries and enjoy more activities.

Wonderful island get-away with a view of the ocean and a wonderful book collection.

Bright and comfortable

This home, close to the ferry, was clean and well equipped. The grounds are gorgeous and the home itself, extremely comfortable and bright. Martin, the owner, was very accomodating and made us feel very welcome. We would highly recommend this rental.

Happy New Year's Stay!

We spent a lovely 3 days on Hornby Island and thoroughly enjoyed staying at the KEMA house. The house is lovingly decorated and very clean. All amenities we required for our short stay were provided as expected and we felt very comfortable. The view out to the ocean, Denman Island, and Vancouver Island was also wonderful, as was the beach, which we frequented a few times for a brief walk. We imagine that Hornby Island and this vacation property are even more lovely in the summer. We'll be back.

Rest and Relaxation

We had a wonderful stay at KEMA house. The beach across the street is deserted and the perfect little gem for a quiet morning coffee or lazy afternoon read away from everything. Hornby is beautiful in the spring!

I have never been to Hornby in the spring, and it was so peaceful! This house was in a great location, with it's own private beach. The house is very artfully decorated, and had all the amenities we needed.

Fall getaway

We had a wonderful November stay at the KEMA house. The property had everything we needed. It was a cosy and warm place to return to at the end of our days of long walks through various trails on beautiful Hornby Island. Martin was a very responsive host. We highly recommend a visit here.

Blissful Stay on Hornby

KEMA house was a wonderful place to call home for a week. The home was clean and obviously well loved by Martin and his family. Communication with the owner was very easy and timely. The property is private and tranquil and the beach across the street is virtually deserted! The sunsets from the beach and beautiful; bring a picnic basket and just immerse yourself in the beauty of the place. Thank you Rempel family for sharing your oasis with us!
