You will love Los Balcones !
We bought this property because we love Old San Juan. It is the best place to be when you are in Puerto Rico!
Lourdes purchased this apartment in 2014
It is in the heart of Old San Juan, on a quiet street, close to the Ocean Walk.
The host was very helpful and friendly and the apartment was as lovely as described. The location is excellent and the neighborhood too. We were able to visit all the key locations including the classic tourist attractions as well as many restaurants and other points of interest, all without the need of a rental car. The security of the apartment was apparent and the comforts of the accommodations were more than adequate. Still, the cost was reasonable and affordable for a great value. We would highly recommend this as a place to enjoy Old San Juan to the most.
This place is great! You're two blocks from the ocean and walking distance to anything in Old San Juan. Plenty of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and shopping is just steps away. There is a drug store, grocery store and even a Marshalls dept store all within a 5 minute walk in case you forgot something or need to stock up on supplies. The apartment was clean, with all the amenities you need. AC and ceiling fans to keep you nice and cool. TV and wifi if you just have to stay plugged in....but you're crazy if you don't get outside! The two street facing balconies let you take in all the sounds and charm of the cobble stone street below and the surrounding colorful buildings. We planned the first half of our trip at a typical hotel on the beach, we had a car and hit all the spots around the island. Then we switched to Lourdes' spot and got rid of the car. One of the locals told us you CAN NOT park a car, even a rental, OVERNIGHT in Old San Juan unless you are a resident with the approved decal. She said there are designated areas on the outskirts of town for parking but we never asked where. We noticed as we walked the town that finding street parking is almost impossible anyway so ditching the car was the right move. You WON'T need a car to get around in Old SJ. We used Uber when we ventured out of the city and for our ride to the airport. $13 +tip to get to the airport. They came to the apartment within five minutes each time. We also had one last adventure tour planned while we were in Old San Juan and that company came and picked us up right in town. While you're there get something to eat at Deaverdura, on the corner just a couple of blocks up Calle Sol to your left as you walk out the door. We showed up just as they were closing so we asked for a recomendation for diner elsewhere but the owner insisted that we stay because we wouldn't find another place with food as good as hers...she was right. They sat and talked with us and made us feel like we were part of the family. That was the best part of the meal. In the morning, hit the coffee shop in the Plaza De Armas Hotel and get some of their coffee and a delicious pastry treat called a quesito! Stay at Lourdes' place, you will love it!
If you want to have easy access to everything Old San Juan has to offer at a reasonable price, this is the place to stay. You are close to everything. After a 15 minute taxi ride from the airport, you will be able to enjoy great restaurants and shopping. If you want to prepare some or all of your own own meals, there is a supermarket within 3 blocks. You can spend time in the numerous plazas or spend time walking through the numerous sites within the city. Several fun tours are offered by the Bacardi distillery across the bay that can be reached by ferry. There are also numerous tours that can be booked in the area for day trips to the beach, El Yunque rainforest, zip lining, snorkeling or site seeing. You will also be just a few blocks away from the bus terminal that provides transportation to many local sites as well. You can even take one of the busses to and from the airport if you are on a budget. If the local cuisine is not appealing, several fast food restaurants including Wendys and Subway are within walking distance. There is also a Walgreens and CVS 5 blocks away. Coffee shops are also common in the area along with a Starbucks if That is your cup of "tea". The apartment itself is not large, but it has everything you need for 2 people. It is located on the second floor of Calle Sol and has a nice small balcony. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook any meal. You have a two burner stove with a small microwave and small table top oven along with a refrigerator. There is air conditioning in the main living area and bedroom along with two ceiling fans. Opening the balcony doors, however, and allowing the ocean breezes to come in is the best way to enjoy the apartment. There is a tv with cable and wifi. This is my third time visiting San Juan. I have stayed in Condado and Isla Verde. This is the place you want to stay!
This apartment is extremely well located in the old town of San Juan. As an older couple we found it roomy and comfortable. The A/C worked well and aside for a minor complaint about cleanliness we were well satisfied with our choice. Lourdes was communicative and efficient.
My husband and I enjoyed our three nights on Calle Sol very much. The apartment was lovely, clean, and had all we could ask for. We loved the shuttered doors that opened up to the two balconies. Great linens, comfortable furniture and bed.... Gorgeous!
But would never stay there again during the festival. We had to leave town for a couple of days to avoid the crowds, drunk people and all night noise which was in the street next to us.
Stayed in the apartment for 4 days and 3 nights, it is located close to San Cristobal in Calle Sol. The one bedroom apartment is extremely spacious, with a kitchen, living room and 2 small balconies. It has A/C in both the bedroom and living room/kitchen space which feels great after a long day walking around Old San Juan. The owners were extremely helpful and available for any questions or concerns we had.
I recommend this property and would definitely stay here again.
