About brent homan

I have spent many years living and vacationing in the mid Columbia Gorge, enjoying hiking, biking, Carson Hot Mineral Baths, sight seeing and the many gorge events. I love the spectacular scenery and wildlife!

brent homan purchased this house in 1891

Why brent homan chose Washington State

The house has wonderful views of the Little White Salmon River. Beautiful setting of 100 year old cedar and fir trees surround home. Next to an old growth stand of timber. Good area to ride bikes (12 mile round trip from house to Oklahoma Park), hike, Big Cedars Campground is 500 feet from my road entrance.

What makes this house unique

If you want to get away from it all in a serene, private setting and yet close enough to the Hood River area. Hood River Bridge is 20 minutes away.

We are hoping to return again and again

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I choose this location because we wanted a quiet retreat. This house and the grounds were perfect for our needs. The house overlooks a beautiful meandering creek (The Little White Salmon river which is more of a creek in autumn) that lends the sound of flowing water as we enjoyed sitting on the lawn above the bank of the creek. And those gentle water sounds reach you in the master bedroom which overlooks the creek as well. The surrounding forest appears untouched and pristine, and seems to go on forever.

The house is well supplied for cooking, which we did each day. And the generous open space of the living room / dining room is surrounded by very large windows which offer views on three sides of the surrounding forest and creek. We felt welcomed by Brent, the owner, both by our interactions, and through the simple and clear posted explanations of how to use the house. We are hoping to return again and again

A great cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the cabin for six nights, and everything was great. We wanted to hike in the Gifford Pinchot forest, so this was a great location for day hikes. The owner was easy to work with and the house was very clean and the beds were comfortable. It didn't bother us, but we didn't have cell phone service or WiFi that worked reliably while we were there. Good to disconnect for a few days!

Owner's Response: Dish net tech came up and adjusted the equipment for a stronger signal. They are coming back mid October to install and upgrade the WiFi to Gem 2. Thanks for letting me know about that! Regards, Brent

Nice secluded cabin with a creek in the back yard.

  • 5 of 5

We take walk in the evenings. The woods are natural, untouched and serene. The cabin is comfortable, clean and well stocked.

The faucet in the kitchen sink is weak and needs to be fixed . The wood panel around the air conditioner needs to be sealed tightly to prevent insects from getting in. Both are minor issues and can be fixed easily.

Beautiful home, with everything you will need for your stay.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 3 nights at this great home and were very happy. It had everything you could ask for and more. Very nice, quiet setting to get away from it all to enjoy mountain river right out the door. Make sure you take some groceries with you, but there are nice restaurants not too far away, if you don't mind a little sight seeing drive.

Lovely, bright home in serene, forested location

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in this vacation home! The property couldn't be more serene and scenic, surrounded by forest, wildflowers and the Little White Salmon below. The home itself was bright and airy, very clean (a real plus in my book), and comfortable. We were a family of 6 and made most meals at home. The kitchen was generally well stocked ( some sharper kitchen knives to cut up vegetables would be my only request). The location was great -- a scenic 20 minute drive into Hood River and even closer to some beautiful hiking trails, such as Dog Mtn. There was a great little taco stand on the way to Hood River! The owner, Brent, was also extremely accommodating and responsive. We will be back!!
