About brent homan

I have spent many years living and vacationing in the mid Columbia Gorge, enjoying hiking, biking, Carson Hot Mineral Baths, sight seeing and the many gorge events. I love the spectacular scenery and wildlife!

brent homan purchased this house in 1891

Why brent homan chose Washington State

The house has wonderful views of the Little White Salmon River. Beautiful setting of 100 year old cedar and fir trees surround home. Next to an old growth stand of timber. Good area to ride bikes (12 mile round trip from house to Oklahoma Park), hike, Big Cedars Campground is 500 feet from my road entrance.

What makes this house unique

If you want to get away from it all in a serene, private setting and yet close enough to the Hood River area. Hood River Bridge is 20 minutes away.

Nice one

Great place. Very secluded and relaxing. Only drawback is there is no cleared area to setup camp chairs next to the river. Will likely be back. Thanks!

Beautiful little house in the woods!

  • 5 of 5

With all the comforts of home this rental brought us back for a second and longer stay after our first stay a year ago. This time the family enjoyed the home as well. Plenty of room so we weren't cramped at all. The setting provides the peace and tranquility we were all needing.

Great time exploring the Columbia Gorge Area

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent a week at this beautiful property and had a fantastic time. The home is very private, quite, clean, well-stocked and just a great place to relax. Twenty minute scenic drive to Hood River but definitely worth it. Great place to use as your home base while you check out the incredible Columbia River Gorge area. We have stayed at a lot of VRBO properties and this is defently our favorite. Hope to return next year.

Quiet serenity

  • 5 of 5

What a peaceful relaxing home .

Perfectly located right next to the river.

The views and surrounding forest are beautiful , serene , and feels remote , but it is really a 20 minute drive to civilization . We chose to never leave the property.

The first day we were there we saw a black bear cross the river 30 feet from us as we sat in the grass , many deer were about , and the small woodland critters .

The cabin is non descript on the outside , but inside it is wonderful, spotless , bright , modern but homey.

The upstairs suite has a bathroom with a separate shower and a sauna . The master bedroom has the best river veiw and a very comfortable king size bed . There is also a day bed in a separate part of the second floor suite.

The kitchen is well stocked with teas and coffee we BBQ'd all our meals with the brand new grill .

Screen doors allow the breeze to cool the house off as well as bring in the music of the river.

The downstairs bed is a sleep number --awesome and the full bath is classy .

Hardwood floors and new vinyl tile make for very clean floors .

There is a tv with a dish that wasn't too hard to figure out , games and cards and puzzles .

I read in previous reviews that some suggested building a deck . I disagree it would take away from the feel of having the river right at your windows .

This is far and wide one of the more relaxing homes we have ever stayed in

Can't wait to return .

Great Getaway Home

  • 5 of 5

We had a great fall getaway at the end of September 2016. This home was quiet and away in a beautiful location surrounded by forest. The Little White Salmon river was a tranquil view through big windows on both floors. And you could hear the peaceful trickle of the river at night from the upstair's king bedroom. The Sauna was also a nice added touch, and the grill was new. Brent Homan was very accommodating, allowing us to check in early and leave late, and all his directions were very good. We enjoyed looking out at mother nature every morning as we had coffee, and every evening as we had a drink. We hiked each day in the beautiful Gifford Pinchot Forest near the Pacific Coast Trail and then Mt. Adams. And we took a beautiful fall colors loop drive to Trout Lake and then to White Salmon, WA. I could go on and on. We will definitely be coming back again.
