About the property

House sleeps 6, apartment sleeps 4

Our house is close enough to enjoy all the activities in the Gorge, but far enough in the country for a peaceful get away. The house is cozy enough for 2, and spacious enough for a group. Just 6 miles from Hood River, OR, it's perfect for couples, families, or wedding guests. An open floor plan makes the house seem larger than 1700 square feet. Windows and light surround the great room, providing views of orchard, wooded hills and mountain. The kitchen provides everything needed for meals, including staples for baking, spices, condiments, and sundries. Both bedrooms have new comfortable king beds with all new cotton bedding, down comforters and pillows. Two oversize couches in the great room easily convert to twin beds. A luxurious master bath includes a cast iron soaking tub, walk in shower, sauna, and heated tile floor. The guest bath has a walk in shower. All 3 bathrooms have hairdryers and straitners, as well as extra supplies.. The porch wraps around the house, with plenty of furniture for relaxing outside or gathering with friends. The patio includes a BBQ, propane fire pit, and Internet are provided. The 2 smart TV's are hooked up to Roku. A private 500 square ft. apartment above the garage is available as part of the vacation rental. Just to be clear, the apartment is always rented with the house for the same price, if you don't need the apartment, it remains empty. The apartment has a queen bed and two twins, a full bath with tub shower combo, a mini kitchen, and everything you need for a comfortable stay. We also have a portable crib and high chair available. Our guest closset holds games and books, as well as a few toys and coloring books. We have a resident outdoor only cat on the property, 'Jane'. She comes and goes in and out of the garage through a pet door, where she has food, water and beds. She keeps us mice free, she can take care of herself with any dog, and she is super friendly. Although the garage is not included , there is space for gear if needed.

Words cannot express how amazing this house was! First, I want to say that Colette was extremely helpful throughout the entire process. We had great communication before my stay, and after.

The house is at the end of the road, away from all the noise. It sits on a hill, and you have an AMAZING view of Mt. Hood from the living room window and front porch.

My family and I did most of our adventures in Hood River, Oregon, however this house was only about 45-hour drive to our destinations each day, and the scenic drives were amazing. The owners of the house have seriously thought of EVERYTHING! I was so impressed when I saw a "just in case" basket filled with toothbrushes/toothpaste and other items you may forget. They take the "worry" out of everything.

The furnishings on the house are fantastic. Wood floors, granite countertops, heated floors in the bathroom, a sauna, fluffy blankets- the list goes on and on!

The house also came with an "instruction" book on how to pretty much work every appliance/entertainment unit in the house, which was great.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND- you will not be disappointed. I can't wait to come back all the way from Texas :)

We loved the house!

  • 5 of 5

The home provided for every comfort and then some. The master bath is wonderful!!! The soaking tub and sauna were just what we needed. The home is wonderfully decorated and really fits with the orchard/Columbia Gorge area, while still being elegant with touches of luxury. We stayed in the smaller bedroom to be able to wake up with a view of Mt. Hood. Trips into White Salmon and Hood River were easy, but we tended to stay at the house and relax with Jane the cat. She is a special treat and got along really well with our little dog. We loved her!!!!! We went on long walks on the gravel road and relaxed on the wrap around porch especially at sunrise. Sitting on the back patio with a view of the stars was just a bonus to the whole package. It was just my husband and our little dog and the house can accommodate a group easily, yet we didn't feel overwhelmed by the space at all. My husband used the over garage apartment to do his back therapy exercises. The living room sofas are so comfy. Many naps were taken there. I did end up using some nail polish remover from the "in case you forgot it" basket in the smaller bedroom. I was thrilled to find it there! The home was very clean and had everything we needed. I hesitate to even say anything at all, but the only thing I missed was at least one or two sharp knives, as we did a lot of cooking in the wonderful kitchen. A reviewer in the past had mentioned a lot of traffic on the road in front of the house. We didn't experience that at all!! It is so quiet there at night too. Truly peaceful. Colette was helpful in every way. I can't thank her enough for her kindness.

This was our first time staying in the White Salmon area. The home was beautiful and everything was exactly as described. I couldn't have asked for anything more and highly recommend this location for anyone looking to visit the White Salmon area.

A beautiful home in a wonderful setting! Quiet and peaceful - very soothing

Our family was delighted to find the house was even more than we anticipated. My daughter, soninlaw and two boys fit perfectly into the garage apartment. It gave them the privacy they needed at bedtime for the boys, 3 1/2 and 15 months. The steps were a bit steep for the little ones. The house was fantastic, immaculate with a fully loaded, modern kitchen, plenty of space for all of us (6 adults, and two very active kids) All the linen and bedding was top notch, and the master bath, with huge soaking tub and sauna was just fantastic. The house kitty greeted us at the door (she lives in the garage with egress through a cat door). She was very friendly, good with the children, though we could have done without the squirrel and mouse that she left us at the door! We also had 2 brief episodes of power loss, but Colette kept us abreast of the power repairs. The house is a bit far from town, though you could walk it if you are used to walking distances. I would recommend this great vacation house to anyone looking for an escape from the bustle of city living. We loved it and would absolutely stay again.
