Business license 3208 - Our mountain paradise is situated on over 2 private acres yet it is close to the entrance of R.M.N.P. and the Y.M.C.A. of the Rockies. Guests can enjoy time together in the two living areas kitchen and multiple decks or they can escape to the privacy of their bedrooms which are dispersed throughout the three floors of the home. The kitchen is fully equipped for your enjoyment and the comfortable furnishings envelop you in relaxation. The views and surroundings will make you forget your cares and will remind you of just how beautiful life can be. Hikers, families, friends and small retreats alike will be blessed by our wonderful home.

About Dan Heard

Kelly and I are happily married with 4 kids and have spent many happy summers in Rocky Mountain National Park – going back to 1993. We usually stayed at the YMCA and we would often dream of having a cabin right on the property there.

Why Dan Heard chose Estes Park

This cabin’s property shares the Wind River, and we border the YMCA property, so we’ve achieved our dream. This home is also special to us because within 10 minutes you can hike right into the Park without getting in your car. The back of the cabin, especially the master bedroom balcony, gives a nice view of Mt Ypsilon.

What makes this House unique

Getting in and out year-round is achieved because we are on Highway 66, also called Tunnel Road, but this is not a “through” road – it ends about 500 yards past our property, so the traffic is minimal.

                                                              Close enough to Estes Park/RMNP yet private and secluded.

                                                              The cabin is great!! All five of the bedrooms and baths are big and very comfortable. The two kitchens are well equipped and can handle a large group. On the backside of the cabin is a nice deck off of the ground floor (a finished lower-level with two bedrooms and two baths, a laundry area, couch, plus one of the kichens), an enclosed porch on the main floor with a cozy electric heater and furniture, and a balcony level off of the top floor. Did we mention the view?! Snow-capped mountains, trees, and blue skies abound! We brought a guitar, but found a second one in a closet for a family jam session in the great room by the indoor fireplace. The towels and linens are of good quality. We had nine adults in the cabin and had plenty of room to either do our own thing or dine and relax together. One of our family members was hoping to find a hot tub on the property. Other than that, we have no other suggestions! We felt the price was very affordable for the size of the cabin and all of its amenities. We would love to return again some day!

                                                              Enjoyed the location and the wildlife right in the front of the house. We could have had a little more room on main level. We didn’t find the enclosed patio until the next day. That was very enjoyable spot. It was very cold in the cabin when we arrived at 4 pm and didn’t really feel heat until about 9 pm. There were a few things that need some repair and we left a list in the house. The kitchen faucet drips if not adjusted by the handle. Toilet paper holder coming out of wall on main level. Bathrooms on lower floor had constant heat running and made the bedrooms very hot to sleep in. A piece of wood was broken off the front entrance and the weather stripping around the front door looked like it should be replaced as a lot of cold air came in the crack. Could have used shampoo & conditioner for people that forgot theirs. We enjoyed the different levels where people could enjoy privacy if wanted.we only stayed 2nights instead of 3 but all in all it was serviceable. Could have used a good recliner in main front room as we had a handicapped person and the seating was not too comfortable. Could use a little updating.

                                                              Thanks for staying at our home. We checked out the heat in the lower bathrooms and it seemed to be functioning properly. There are multiple thermostats in the home as there are several zones for the boiler. This could be why it took a while for the home to heat and why the bathrooms were too hot. For those not familiar with multi-zone heating it can be confusing. The other items have been fixed. Please come again.
