About the property

4 Bedroom / 2 Bath (East side of our side-by-side Duplex)

OCEANFRONT BEACH HOUSE IN EMERALD ISLE NC / HEATED POOL / AMAZING VIEWS!!!

• BRAND NEW POOL & Pool Deck!

This pool is the Largest Private Pool on the Island. It measures 44' long x 16' wide. The Pool design has steps/entranceway at both ends. It also has a floating rope that divides the pool down the middle so you have your own side, for better privacy.

• NO CHARGE for POOL HEATING in May/June and Sept/Oct. Saves $500!!!

(Pool Heater operable only when the air temperature is above 60 degrees...so the month of April is very iffy if the pool will be warm enough for swimming. That is why our APRIL RATES are comparable to homes 'without' a pool)

Pool heating is not at all necessary for the months of July/Aug.

• Check out our website for the house which includes an automated slide show of all

there is to do in Emerald Isle and the surrounding area:

www.emeraldisleoceanfrontpoolhome.com

• This house is a Duplex.

• Also available: WEST side of this Duplex (see VRBO Listing #703893)... in case this 'East' side unit does not have availability for the week you want.

• Cozy and comfortable Ocean-front Island getaway (perfect for family vacation).

• Ocean Views from living room, dining room and kitchen.

• Large Oceanfront Sitting Deck…one right off the Living Room and another large sitting area at the end of the walkway…for amazing views). Watch the breathtaking sunsets in the evening and sit out under the stars at night!

• Steps to the Ocean! Open the windows and feel the wonderful breeze.

• Boardwalk to the pool and beach.

• Open Floor Plan

• Decorated with tropical décor and light Beachy colors.

• Beautiful hardwood flooring! (Living room/Dining room).

• Tropical landscaping.

• Pool is to be shared with the renters of the other half of the Duplex. For your privacy, each side of the pool has its own entry point and there is a dividing rope down the middle of the pool to separate your half.

About Don

Our family has been spending summer vacations on the East Coast since the very early 1900's when our Great Grandfather took my Grandfather as a boy down to the barrier Islands off the Eastern seaboard. Sadly, as much as all the older generations LOVED the shore, they were never able to afford to buy a house there. My Grandfather had the opportunity to 'buy' a lot on an Island for $200 in the early 1900's, but in his own words; 'that was too much money' back then...he couldn't afford it...he grew up in the great depression. We need to remind ourselves that we are a very blessed generation to have been able to finally buy a Beach House. It still took a lot of sacrifices and it is not easy, but we know it brings a lot of joy to a lot of people...not just us. We have a young 'special-needs' boy, and there is no greater feeling than watching his face when he is at the Beach! We are sure this will bring many fond memories to your Children... if you can simply put down the cell phone, computer and remote while you are here and just enjoy being with your family at the Ocean!

Don purchased this house in 2001

Why Don chose Central Coast

Our Father decided that since he was just a few more years away from being about to retire that he wanted to buy a house on the NC Coast and retire there. He visited the entire NC coast looking at real estate and he apparently fell in love with Emerald Isle because he singled it out and focused on the market there. Sadly, two weeks later after making his last trip there, he passed away...at the young age of 54.

In 1993, I decided to buy a Beach house on the Ocean so I started taking trips to every Island and every town up and down the NC Coast. Upon doing so, there was no question that Emerald Isle was by far the prettiest Island in my opinion. It's natural beauty is everywhere you look. It has pristine beaches with very clean, warm water. The Ocean is shallow and great for children. The architecture on the Island is a mix of Sandcastles and small cottages. There is maritime forest with old curvy tall Live Oak tree's. There is fine dining, miles of bike paths, a wide beautiful Sound for boating and so much more.

What makes this house unique

Clean, warm, shallow Ocean water with expansive, pristine white sandy Beaches!!! Pure Nature at it's best!

The Island runs East to West allowing views of both the sunrises and sunsets.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We enjoyed the beach, so beautiful, it was sunny 85 degrees, water was warm and scenic views for miles. We frolic in the water and relaxed in the sand. We could not have asked for a better day to start our vacation off. Second day was my birthday. We decided to do some shopping in town. We came across some very unique stores. Later that day, we had more time at the beach then off to dinner to celebrate my birthday. We went to Flipperz - awesome time!!

Unexpected Surprises

  • 2 of 5

We've stayed at many VRBO's but this time we were disappointed. The house is in a great location, with a beautiful pool and beach. We liked that there were 2 bedrooms on one floor and two on another so that we could spread out with our stuff. However, when we went upstairs, we found that the towel bar was off the wall in the bathroom, and the toilet paper holder was missing the crosspiece. Later we discovered that the sheets in the upstairs front room were dirty and that the shower trickled. Our downstairs housemates discovered that the air conditioning was not working well, although we were fine upstairs, if you don't mind cold air blowing on your head all night from the overhead vent. The HVAC was finally fixed 3 days later, and a plumber came the day after that to adjust the shower. The final straw was that the coffee pot stopped working mid-week so we had to go out for coffee every day. Did I mention that there was no property manager nearby and the owner was three timezones away? While this place had some real benefits, the lack of attention to maintenance detail would make me look elsewhere the next time I want to stay at Emerald Isle.

An Excellent Experience

  • 5 of 5

We travelled with our two adult children and their families. There were 7 total including our 3.5 year old grandaughter. This house was perfect. Four bedrooms, ample kitchen, dining, and living space - Two bathrooms. The rooms were very clean and pretty with giant closets in each. Really couldn't have asked for better. However.......we got better when.....we stepped out of the living room door and there was an amazing heated and lighted and sparkling giant swimming pool. Beautiful, just beautiful and perfect..... We really couldn't have asked for better..... but still it got even better......just a few steps from the pool a landing with some benches and one more step onto the most beautiful beach ever. It was like we owned our own little section of the beach for our week. Honestly, this place rocked.....We loved it. We were also very happy to have the very responsive owner available for questions and insight. It was a perfect vacation. We loved it. Thank you so much for the use of your perfect place.

Outstanding!!

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful time at Shang-ri-la beach house. The house was open and spacious. pool was a nice addition for those of us who did not like to swim in the ocean, and still wanted to swim. The neighbors were all friendly and helpful. Nothing negative to say about our stay or the house. The old adage, you get what you pay for, holds true. We will have long time memories long after our footprints have left the sand (a picture in the house which describes our stay perfectly).

Great family property in central location

  • 4 of 5

Had a great vacation at this home that is centrally located on Emerald Isle. Only about one mile to to the grocery, bait shop, bike rental and putt putt golf course. As its in the middle of beach row it is like having your own beach. The only people around are your fellow renter's on the row. About 12 homes in from the pier and about the same from the public beach access. We had about 15 yards or so between families on the beach. . This will be a property that we come back to in the next few years as we travel up and down the NC/SC coast over the last 20 years. The pool is very nice and the beach is great. Very nice decks to see the evening pass by. My one small suggestion to the owner is a garbage disposal. We ate in a lot and having no disposal is odd.
