A RUSTIC TASTE OF MONTANA'S PAST:no-frills lodging in an historic bunkhouse

Ideal vacation lodging: a beautiful ranch setting, apart from the traditional tourist scene, in comfortable, relaxed surroundings. CHAPS & SPURS HISTORIC BUNKHOUSE is one of 4 unique accommodations we offer. All are in a private setting for guests looking for lodging with a personal touch. If your vacation is centered around exploring this unique area, you are within minutes of area activities and attractions. The East Entrance to Glacier Park is 15 minutes away, Many Glacier Valley is 20 minutes, Two Medicine Valley is an hour's scenic drive as is Waterton National Park in Canada. The Ranch is an ideal place to return to after a day of activity; to kick back, relax and plan your next day's adventure. If you prefer time to read, write, photograph or other more solitary pursuits, you will enjoy the space, privacy and inspiring natural ambience. All our vacation rentals offer the serenity, privacy and views that Paul Ranch Montana LLC is famous for.

Centrally located for a variety of destinations and pursuits, this rustic one-room bunkhouse is comfortable, and well-maintained. It is decorated with historic period furnishings, except for the beds (we want our guests to get a good night's sleep). For the budget minded traveler, our Chaps & Spurs Historic Bunkhouse will help you stretch your travel dollar. Sitting on the porch morning and evening is a favorite spot of the Ranch owner...feeling the fresh air, listening to the natural sounds, gazing at the mountains, watching the gold finches drink and bathe in the adjacent pond, and the butterflies flutter about in the peacefulness of the setting. In a sense, you'll truly be roughing it (just like the cowboys)...there's electricity and a brand new private washhouse with shower, sink and toilet. It's a rustic taste of Montana's past! Potable water is provided. The Bunkhouse is equipped with a microwave, a small fridge, a coffeemaker & coffee fixin's, paper plates, cups, plastic wear, linens, blankets, and towels. Daily service to your accommodations allows you to concentrate on your vacation, not housekeeping.

A covered porch off the front door offers mountain views of Glacier Park that are beyond belief and is a perfect place to dine, to start your day with morning coffee or to end your evening relaxing and viewing wildlife that inhabit the property. A large open field invites an evening stroll; equipment is on hand for outdoor games and activities. This is a plus for families traveling with children.

RANCH MONTANA PAUL LLC proudly announces it has been accepted as a Silver level GreenLeader into the new GreenLeaders™ program, which helps travelers plan greener trips by identifying environmentally-friendly accommodations across the U.S.

WILD HEART REFUGE, comprised of 155 acres, has been set aside on the Ranch as a wildlife refuge. The commitment of Paul Ranch Montana is to leave acreage undisturbed to support indigenous wildlife that live on, give birth on and migrate across the land.

SEE OUR WEBSITE FOR OTHER LODGING CHOICES which include our newest addition 3 bedroom/2 bath vacation rental (Meadowlark Meadows Guest Home), our economical 2 bedroom/1 bath vacation rental (Wagon Wheel Guest Home) and our premium 3 bedroom/2 bath vacation rental (Elk Willows Guest Home).

On-site caretakers will ensure your stay is exceptional with personalized attention to detail.

Enjoy the mountain views, spectacular sunrises and sunsets, and the sounds of nature.

Enjoy the free roaming alpacas who inhabit the property… they are such curious, mystical creatures.

We are adjacent to a wetlands conservation area which provides a great area for birding.

What makes this cabin unique

The unique benefits of the Ranch include the wildlife that inhabit the property, the pair of red tailed hawks that take up residency every year, the awesome mountain vistas, the clean air, the clear night sky, the get-away-from-it-all setting. Hearing the morning and evening sounds from the wetlands conservation area that borders the property will connect you with nature and refresh your spirit.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Myself and my two boys thoroughly enjoyed our 2-night stay in your small cabin last weekend. Mike was very friendly, helpful, and really enjoys his job working for you. He made us feel oh so special. His wife also made us some taco won tongs. (: yum yum.

I hope I can make the trip from Missouri back to Glacier NP in the near future and stay in this same cabin. If there was a rocking chair on the front porch, I don't know if I would have ever left. Thank you. very much.

One of the best settings close to the east side of glacier national park.

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable, peaceful and unique setting. Location is best. 45 minutes to Waterton lakes national park in Canada. Also 45 minutes to Many Glacier hiking paradise. Ideal for couples. The managers of the ranch are kind and helpful. I will go there again.

Cozy, Peaceful and Secluded

  • 5 of 5

We could not have picked a better place to stay while exploring Glacier NP. After a long day out on the trails my wife and I loved coming back to our cozy little bunk house, sitting on the porch and watching the birds and the sunset over the Montana plains. Our hosts were absolutely lovely people and beyond helpful, from providing cookies and bear spray to fogging the area on a daily basis to keep away the insects. The bunk house was cozy and well stocked and the separate "outhouse" was a very pleasantly clean with excellent water pressure. We were looking for a cheaper, simple place to stay for our trip but our accommodations turned out to be one of the main highlights. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thanks again!!!

Great place, peaceful and relaxing

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time in the area and at your bunk house. This was the perfect location to see all the areas and as we continued our trip it was a great location to head out to Watertown and Banff. We saw so many animals, it was peaceful and relaxing. When we arrived in Canmore, my boys they said wished we had a place like the bunk house to stay in instead of the condo. Great fun! Thank you!!

We had a wonderful time at the bunkhouse. Nice and close to Many Glacier, and we really enjoyed afternoons on the deck watching the birds & wildlife. Gene & Teri were very gracious hosts. Recommended!
