Why Kevin Ouellette chose North River
This property was bought originally to run as a bed and breakfast. Do to changes in the family it was not possible to make this dream come true. Instead it was decided to open up the second level and do a major remodel job. The hope was to provide a family getaway home people could vacation at with comfort. It does not have the brass ans sassy of today's modern upscale rental but more the charm and history of an Adirondack family home. We want families to come and enjoy the space. we just ask that is treated with respect.
What makes this House unique
The benefits of this home is its location and set up. large enough for a large family or two or three small ones. This home is also cozy enough for that couple to get away. we are close to most major attractions, yet far enough away to escape the hustle and bustle.

Convenient and pretty much exactly as described
Overall we had a solid experience at the rental. Kevin made everything extremely easy and we had no real problems all weekend. The house is super conveniently located and the driveway was plowed for us after the big Nor'easter. The house definitely has that down home, lived-in feel and does not have any bells and whistles. The living room furniture was a little more run-down than expected and there were some collections of dead flies in some of the bedrooms. Having spent the last 25 summers living in the 'Dacks, we know the flies just come with the territory. The individual bathrooms for each bedroom was a nice touch.
Thank you for your feedback. Glad you all enjoyed your stay.
Warm and cozy
We really enjoyed our stay in this home. The living room furniture and kitchen is a little worn out but the house was in the middle of ongoing renovations so I am sure it will be updated eventually. It really was warm and cozy for our family of 7. The big living room table, the many bedrooms with private baths, two couches and fireplace was perfect. It was great being close to Gore Mountain and the town of North Creek. We would definitely rent this home again, winter or summer. Kevin, the Owner, was very helpful in planning our stay and was very accessible when we had questions during our stay.
Thank you for your response. Great guests nd the home was left in great shape. Hope you try Dancing Waters Lodge again in the future.
Great deal on a 6bed 6bath with ADK charm. Would stay there again.
a delightful experience
Our stay at this house was very enjoyable and very much fun. The house has everything you could possible need. Its very comfortable, spacious and at the right spot for outdoor activities I would recommend this house to anyone with a big family or with a circle of friends.
Great for multi-family ski trip
We just had a wonderful ski trip to Gore with a couple other families plus 2 dogs and this house was perfect for us. It is clean but comfortable so you can really relax there. At the top of the center hall stairs are 4 bedrooms, each with a double bed, it's own brand new bathroom, its own controllable heating vent, and it's own sliding glass door out to a deck/balcony which made each room beautiful and sunlit. Those rooms housed the adults. At the top of the back staircase there is 1 bedroom with a twin bed and off that room is another bedroom with a double bed and a double futon plus plenty of floor space for 2-3 twin aerobeds which we brought with us. Those 2 rooms share a bathroom and were a perfect hang out for the kids! It is exactly 8 miles (10 min) from the house to the base of Gore. The charming town of North Creek is between Gore and the house, with several restaurants, a Rite Aid pharmacy and a Tops grocery store. Kevin was very helpful and responded very quickly to any questions via email (good wifi in the house). There were very few rules and instructions, which made life simple. Almost everything was self-explanatory. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. The washer and dryer worked very well. We got several pretty good tv channels (even the SyFy channel for the requisite New Year's Weekend Twilight Zone marathon!) and a DVD player. There was wood for the wood stove but we were always too wiped out to make a fire, and the electric heat was good. There were plenty of sheets and towels for everyone. There is a circular driveway which is almost completely flat, and right on Route 28. The view of the Hudson River across the street was gorgeous! In summary, this is a great ski house that comfortably holds a lot of people.
There were 8 of us that stayed from Oct 21st-24th. The house was plenty big and it had everything you need to make your stay great. The décor made you feel right at home. Kevin was very helpful through the whole process from inquiring to booking to checking out. The area was beautiful and the Hudson River was right across the street. We would highly recommend this property and would stay again in a heartbeat.
