Between the two of us we have five children who have graduated or are still in college. We love to meet new families and make them smile. The best part of being a VRBO host is that we get to meet lots of interesting people from all over the world. We respect our guests privacy but are available if they want to know any locals secret type information. We're happy to help out and share what we know about the area and things to do in Colorado. Our goal is to help you and your family have the most awesome experience possible and create fond memories that will last for many years.

Why John Hermanussen and Amy Johnson chose Mount Vernon
Convenient but peaceful getaway. Really nice home in a rural, rustic setting. It blends the amenities of a luxury home with the feel of camping in the woods but it's only about 5 minutes from the edge of the Denver Metro Area. You can cook like a gourmet or roast marshmallows and make s'mores over the fire pit. You can ski at Vail, Breckenridge, Loveland... or play horseshoes and cornhole in the backyard. Hike, Bike, snowshoe at Apex Park about 1/3 mile up the road. Drop into Denver for more activities than I can even mention here. Head up into the mountains for even more activities and fun. It's a wonderful place to live or visit with over 300 days of sunshine every year. Pine Tree Park invites you to consider it YOUR home, even if it's only for a few days.
What makes this Lodge unique
Convenient to City and Mountains. Ideal location. Families and large groups can have quality time together and celebrate weddings or family reunions all onsite. Fire pit, horseshoe pits, Cornhole, hot tub, deer and elk wander around and graze in the 3.3 acres in this property and the large lots surrounding it. Mountain views, Huge Ponderosa Pines...It's up IN the Colorado Rocky Mountains and feels like it's a million miles from everything but just 5 minutes from the edge of the Denver Metro area. Most who have stayed here before wish they had stayed longer!

Great house!!, greater location. The area is so beautiful.
The only thing this house needs is central air conditioning. Everything else was wonderful.
Super house for our 4 generations!
John's house was great for the 12 family members in town for our son's new year's eve wedding. The location was beautiful with easy access off the highway. The house was clean and well furnished. The games, books and puzzles made time at the house fun. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, plenty of dining seating. The common areas were comfortable and the hot tub was great for relaxing. If we could rent this house or one like it when we go to the beach in the summer, we would. It was a great place to call our temporary home.
Great Long-Term Rental
Owner works to accommodate your needs and is pleasant to work with.
We enjoyed our stay immensely. We happened to stay on a week that the temperature was in the 90 degree range, so air-conditioning would have been nice. However, It cooled off nicely in the evenings. Overall, we were very pleased with John and the house. We would stay there again if we vacationed in the area.
Beautiful and spacious home.
Beautiful and spacious home. Worked very well for our 5-family vacation (19 people). Great location. John is very friendly and accommodating. We had a wonderful time creating lasting family memories.
Fit the needs of our family perfectly
Beautiful location in the foothills of Golden, Colorado. The accommodations were roomy, comfortable and perfect for our family reunion gathering. The barn was fun as a location to hold family events, the kitchen had every thing needed to prepare and cook large family type meals. There was room for the kids to play and mingle with one another and a comfortable and spacious living room for all to gather to visit and share time. The property was well maintained and the accommodations were clean and ready for occupancy at the agreed upon time. The home owner was personable, gracious and helpful in meeting our needs and provided outstanding customer service. The property is located close to the many attractions in Golden, Evergreen, and the Denver, Colorado area. We enjoyed pizza at Beau Jo's and time at the lake in Evergreen. We had a family dinner at the White Fence Farm located in Lakewood. We visited Coors Field and the Hammond Candy Factory in Denver. We also used the grills at the facility to cook a large family dinner. The accolades from the family members were that it was one of the best places we have held a family reunion. We would highly recommend this location to anyone seeking a great location to hold a family gathering.
In the foothills just West of Denver and Golden on Lookout Mountain.7 Minutes from Colorado Mills Mall. Very convenient location to Denver Metro and points West via I-70 toward Vail and Breckenridge. 40 Minutes to Denver International Airport or Boulder. 40 minutes to Denver Tech Center. Awesome Hiking and Mountain Biking 1/3 mile up the road is the upper trailhead to the APEX TRAIL which about 10 miles of networked trails with cool views. We are at 7400' and Golden is about 6400' altitude. Near Buffalo Bill’s Grave and Museum, Boettcher Mansion, Lookout Mountain Nature Center and Museum, road bike riding on the Lariat Loop Scenic Byway goes right by in front. Apex Trailhead is 1/3 mile away and offers hiking, Mountain Biking, Downhill Mountain Biking, and snowshoeing (occasionally). It seems far from civilization but is only 5-7 minutes from Colorado Mills, one of the biggest shopping malls in the state. About 40 minutes to DIA, 40 Minutes to Skiing. Loveland 40 min, A-Basin 50 min, Keystone 1hour, Breckenridge 1:15, Copper Mountain 1:05, Vail 1:40. It's about 20 minutes to Downtown Denver and 40 minutes to Boulder.
