About the property

2 BR, 1.5 BA with a large deck overlooking stream

Note: From now through April, renters must have a 4WD or AWD vehicle in case of snowy/icy weather.

Perched on a mountainside close to the Watauga/Ashe county border and the Blue Ridge Parkway, you will feel like you are in a tree house, but with all the comforts of home. While the cabin setting will surround you with trees and mountain wildlife, our state-maintained gravel road is very close to Hwy 221 and Hwy 421, allowing you to be in Boone or West Jefferson in about 15-20 minutes!

Enjoy beautiful hardwood floors throughout the upper level, which holds the kitchen, dining room, living room and a half bath. From there, step out onto the large deck that runs the length of the house, where you can cook out on the full-size, propane grill or just sit and soak in the view of one the ridges that mark the Eastern Continental Divide. It’s a great spot to listen to the creek that literally springs out of the ground just a few hundred feet up the mountain. But fair warning, the birds that visit the feeder may join you and you may even have a few squirrel or chipmunk visitors, too!

Downstairs you can retire to the two cozy bedrooms. The main bedroom has a queen bed with large storage drawers underneath and a separate chest of drawers for your clothes and extra items. The second bedroom has a bunk bed with a full-size mattress on the bottom and a twin-size mattress on top (note: there is a 200lb weight limit for top bunk). The full bath has a tub/shower combo and is convenient to both of the bedrooms. We provide fresh bed linens, pillows, towels, blankets, dishes, pots/pans and lots more to make you visit as comfortable as we can.

The surrounding area offers activities on the New River, hiking along the Blue Ridge Parkway, golf at a fantastic & affordable public course (Mountain Aire) and agri-tourism farms where you can see where baby Christmas trees are grown and where apples, pumpkins, honey and more are farmed by local experts.

Please Note: Our house has two stories. Guests must be able to climb up & down stairs during their stay. If you have young children, you should be vigilant as to where they are both inside and outside the home (we have non-carpeted stairs, slippery rocks, creeks and steep hillsides).

Rental Dates: Please give us at least 24hrs notice if you are requesting a last-minute rental (and sometimes we still won't be able to accommodate your request). Also, we do not book Same Day rentals (where one group checks out and a few hours later a new group arrives). Please check the calendar for open dates.

About Sam & Tiffany Wagoner

We are Appalachian State grads who love the mountains of Boone and Jefferson.

Sam & Tiffany Wagoner purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Sam & Tiffany Wagoner chose Blue Ridge Mountains

This was our first home purchase. It immediately won us over with its cozy charm and a setting that’s close to nature but not too far from town. We love hearing the creek when we are hanging outside. It is one of our favorite places to be and we are glad others will have the chance to enjoy it too!

Great little cabin

  • 5 of 5

This is a great opportunity to be close to Boone and Blowing Rock but still have reasonable prices. The owners are fantastic- incredibly responsive, helpful, and really care about you having a great trip. We brought our two boys and they absolutely loved it- the chalkboard in the kitchen, the board games, and the stream. We wanted to take advantage of the great outdoor fire pit, but there was a burn ban in effect due to recent wildfires so we used the grill for s'mores this time and all was good. Cabin was so wonderfully stocked, it really helped minimize how much we needed to get at the grocery store for a 2 day trip- sometimes you just need 1 ziplock or 1 teaspoon of of sugar and they had all those incidentals there and so organized. Hiking trails are close by and owners have a helpful binder in the cabin with a summary of trails as well as restaurant menus and other helpful info. We enjoyed trying to identify birds that came to the feeder with the bird book they had there. We hope to come back again!

Excellent retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a wonderful stay! We were surprised at how nice and up to date the cabin was! We loved sitting on the porch and listening to the creek. The extra items left around the house for us to use if needed in the bathroom, kitchen, etc, were such a thoughtful addition and made it feel like home. We loved the adventure driving down the gravel road to find the place! We had such a great experience and definitely plan to come back!

Incredibly clean, wonderful owners who treat you like family rather than a guest. Perfect cozy cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful trip! The house was incredibly clean. I honestly don't know how they keep it in such impeccable condition! The house was a perfect size for our family of four. Two adults, and two kids. The homeowners provided above and beyond everything we would need from the standard linens to a fully stocked kitchen (not food of course). They paid attention to small details such as Honest brand soaps in the bathroom! The owners were also so generous in helping me with directions and information regarding the area via text. The property itself is so quaint and perfect for a mountain getaway. A creek runs right in front of the cabin. The house has neighboring homes nearby but you forget they are even there because they aren't that close and mostly out of sight. It looks exactly as pictured or even nicer in person and like I said its one of the cleanest rental properties I have ever stayed at. We would choose to return if we come back to the area. We hated to go!

Fantastic cabin!

  • 5 of 5

This is a fantastic cabin in a really nice location. It was quiet, yet close enough to Boone and Blowing Rock that we could enjoy some nice meals. We ate breakfast each morning on the porch, listening to the stream below. Very relaxing! The owners have gone above and beyond to make sure every possible need we could have had was met. Everything is neatly labeled and there is a really nice "Welcome" notebook with great information on restaurants/activities, etc. We will be back next time we need a quiet, relaxing weekend away.
