About the property

So much snow your eyes will be amazed!!! Whimps need not apply! For those of you who love the elements that mother nature has blessed us with please rent this place!!!

PROPERTY DESCRIPTION:

A modern 900sf, 2bd, 1.5bth family cabin on a 10,000sf lot, so close to the ski resorts you can hear the grooming machines. The cabin is set up for a family of 4 comfortably but can sleep more. One bedroom has twin bunk beds with a cot couch while the other bedroom has a queen bed. Also we priced our cabin for a family of 4 to be able to afford it. We don't encourage multi families. No cable tv but has free wifi with Netflix and Amazon instant video on a 50' HD big screen. No dishwasher or washer dryer. It is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. It has a big front deck with heat lamp for enjoying the fresh mountain air.

About Trevor Walker

We found this wonderful place for sale and with a lot of luck and hard work we turned it into our happy place! We call it 'The Hoot' because every time we come up here we have such a hoot!!!

Trevor Walker purchased this chalet in 2013

Why Trevor Walker chose Gold Country & High Sierra

We picked this property because it is so close to home. We always hop in the car in the evening from the East Bay SF and we are here in 2.5hrs even with a restroom break! This cabin is a hoot... Winter, Summer, Spring or Fall!

What makes this chalet unique

Just a few miles from 5 major ski resorts and close to all amenities Lake Tahoe has to offer. Neighborhood streets and driveway plowed daily when snow is present. General store is a short beautiful walk down the end of the block.

Just perfect...

  • 5 of 5

First ski trip for our 5-yr old twins and only our third trip to the snow ever. Couldn't have been better! The Walker's cabin was spotless, comfortable, and spacious (excellent layout and use of space for only 900 sq. ft.). We spent three days at Donner Ski Ranch and got the kids to survive the green runs. With the cabin less than 10 min. away, we could come back for lunch and take a nice midday break. The little store down the street is stocked with all the basics and then some. Trevor was exceptionally accommodating and easy to communicate with. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

Great getaway very close to Soda Springs resort

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a four-day weekend with our four-year-old daughter. It's a great house, just 3- minutes from Soda Springs Resort, where we spent the time playing at the Planet Kids area. The owners were very communicative, and every email was answered quickly, often within minutes! The house is clean and well-maintained. There is a railroad track nearby but we never heard the train at night, which was a relief. I'd definitely stay here again.

cute cabin

  • 4 of 5

The amount of snow was unreal. We couldn't really enjoy the yard for sledding or building a snowman, which was kind of a bummer. Location of this place is awesome; close to the freeway, close to the soda springs resort. The road was well plowed despite the 8-10' piles of the white stuff on the sides of the roads (kinda like driving in a canyon)

Plenty of bedding, blankets, etc. fluffly towels. The owner was amazing. Great communication and contact. The stairs and driveway were dug out prior to our arrival. The thermostat was set to something comfortable. There's a manual in the cabin for the various electronics and how to operate them. (This was very much appreciated.. I'm a big fan of RTFM)

Things that were not-so-great:

-- The train line is close by. It goes by all night and when it hits the grade-level crossing, it signals short-short-loooooooong. (fun fact: it's the transcontinental line -- good for history buffs, not good for sleeping if you're a light sleeper)

-- could not find a decent sized mixing bowl for making pancakes.

-- need bigger coffee cups; true java junkies don't wanna have to refill every 6oz. :)

overall, a good place to say and I'd recommend it to folks.

Terrific

The cabin was cozy, quaint and comfortable! My two boys cried all the way home not wanting to leave both the cabin and the area. Thanks for a wonderful memory and nordic ski experience.

Great cabin next to everything

  • 4 of 5

Great cabin close to ski resorts and a small grocery store for odds and ends. Sledding right out the back door was perfect.
