What makes this Cottage unique
Sitting out on the back porch is extremely relaxing. Just sit back and enjoy the view. The area is extremely safe for kids. The area has become a world class area for kayaking. Stay in the safe and protected area close to the cottage or venture out for a 12-15 mile kayak trip around crane beach and back to our large wrap around porch for the evening. A paddle directly to crane beach is approximately 1 mile.

Perfect beach getaway!
Great house with tons of character and charm! Beautiful setting, great views with walkable and friendly neighborhood. Great access to beaches, restaurants, and shopping. This was a special week with a family gathering and celebration of birthdays and the house was comfortable, well-equipped and perfect for entertaining. Spent every morning on the porch with coffee overlooking the water and every evening relaxing with the views! A perfect vacation! We would return again without hesitation. The owner was a delight to deal with!
Great for a girls-getaway!
My 3 girlfriends and I just returned from a spectacular weekend at this cozy cottage! We're true southern Texas gals and once we got acclimated to the cooler temps, we were HOOKED! We absolutely loved the charm of this home and the location is spectacular! The front porch is a must! And, of course, the swing! Watching the boats come and go while chatting and sipping coffee was such a change of pace for us and gave us the perfect ambiance as we got caught up on life and each other. Thanks, Lauri, for giving us such a wonderful place to make new memories. Your hospitality was so very appreciated! This home had everything we needed, from hot water to all the kitchen amenities we could have asked for. We would love to come back again and again!
Perfect Seaside Vacation
We just spent the most amazing week at this "cottage" - we can't wait to go back next year! We arrived to a fabulous welcome basket of coffee, snacks, crayons for kids, and info on fun activities etc. to do in the area. The house was extremely clean, the beds were made, and bouquets of fresh flowers were placed on the tables. From the moment we walked in the door we started to relax! The house and all of the amenities made vacationing so easy and fun. A perfect house for young children! We have a 5 month old baby, so not having to get in the car for activities was a real plus. We swam off the docks at high tide and went for beach walks on the sandbars during low tide. My husband loved using the paddle board and the bike to explore the surrounding area. When the tide was coming in, he used the boogie board they have to float down the river! The outdoor shower was fabulous. Great water pressure and so relaxing - we used it exclusively (there is a tub/shower in the upstairs bathroom which was great for our daughter's baths). Our favorite part of the house is the covered wrap-around porch which has spectacular views of the water and provides shade (and sun) for the entire day. Our daughter loves being outside and was able to be in the shade the whole day! Starting each day on the porch with a cup of coffee and the paper was blissful. We went out to dinner one night to a fabulous local restaurant, and cooked the other nights. The kitchen is fully stocked with all dishes, pots, pans, coffee maker, toaster, etc. that you could possibly need, and the grill works really well. We had a large cookout with about 25 people one day, and we easily had enough serving platters, utensils etc. Multiple people raved about the house and the fabulous location. It was also a pleasure working with the owners. They were extremely prompt in their replies to our emails prior to our arrival, and even checked in with us to see how we enjoyed our stay! We couldn't have imagined a more relaxing vacation - thank you!!
Step back in time to the way it used to be with your family
This cottage was just as we had imagined from the photos and reviews. It is a large "cottage" perched on a hill, wrap around porch with views to dream about. Seriously. Not kidding. The cottage is old school, built in the 1800's with many period details in the home. When we arrived the house was very clean and tidy with fresh flowers out for us. Plenty of beds and everything else you need to make your stay comfortable and fun. With 2 teens we were very happy for 1.5 bathrooms, not found in a lot of older homes as well as plenty of room to spread out and have your own space. The outside shower is wonderful. Lots of seating on the porch and a PORCH SWING! Not the bench type but a real kids swing that every child both young and old are drawn to sit on. Plenty of room for swinging, sitting, relaxing and spending your days ON THE OCEAN. The docks are a stones throw away for using the paddle board (included) or walking the marsh at low tide. There are views from every bedroom and window in the house. The owners are there when you need them, one minor (unforeseen) problem and they were very very attentive and making sure all was good. Take a step back in time with your kids and enjoy the simple pleasures of this summer retreat. No streetlights, kids outside playing together, biking and jumping off the docks. Neighbors sipping coffee on their porch, walking dogs and chatting with each other. Everything you need for a blissful vacation retreat is in and around this house.
We're so pleased that you enjoyed your time at Conomo. You seemed to have captured all that has been so dear to our family for the past 45 years. And I love the swing too.
My Favorite Vacation Spot
I have been a guest at this Conomo Point cottage many times over the course of many years. There is nowhere else in the world I would rather be than sitting on that beautiful wrap-around porch sipping coffee and watching the sun rise. Then I stay to watch the kayakers dip their paddles into the water, the fishing boats heading out, the kids start to go by on their bicycles, the moms with toddlers in hand heading to the sandy little beach. This is a place from another era, where you can experience the quintessential New England summer of your childhood, real or imagined (if like me, you grew up far from clammers and lobster pots). It isn’t swanky, the floors squeak a little, but this place is the real deal. Our friends join us for crazy collaborative dinners after drinks on the porch (did I mention the porch?!), followed by walks around the point and I cannot imagine a place better than this. We typically are a group of 3 couples who have no problem supplementing the one full bath with the outdoor shower. If you’re travelling with kids, they will never want to shower indoors again! The downstairs half bath near the bunk room, while small, serves its primary function just fine. The kitchen is adequately stocked for most all your culinary needs and there is ample silverware, glassware, plates and bowls to serve and enjoy your local produce, seafood and the best pies ever from a great farmstand just down the road, John’s Farmstand. The only danger to renting here is that you will never want to leave and you will spend the rest of the year waiting for summer to come so you can return to Conomo Point. You may try to make do with a photo of the sunrise on your computer desktop, but please, just leave a week for me.
We have been to this Conomo point house for several years. It's a wonderful place to really enjoy a vacation. Conomo point is such a beautiful location with incredible views. The house is huge compared to other rentals at higher prices. It's a beautiful, older cottage that is comfortable, clean, and well equipped. There is lots of room to sleep a big family or group. The wrap around porch is THE place to spend the morning, afternoon or evening - great sunsets, looking out over Essex Bay and the back of Crane's beach. Super place for paddle boarding, kayaking, and fishing in Essex River, etc. Clammer Beach(small) and the dock are 100 yards downs the tiny road, or head over to Cranes or Wingaersheek, or our favorite Good Harbor Beach - all 15 minutes from the house if you want to enjoy the best of MA beaches. There are plenty of good places to eat awesome NE seafood (classic's like Farnham's and Woodman's) and several newer restaurants. In summary; a nice place in a beautiful location!!
Conomo Point is a very quiet community. It is private and not very touristy. Within a very short drive or bike ride or boat ride you will reach the towns of Essex, Ipswich, Gloucester, Manchester By the Sea and Magnolia for shopping, beaches and activities. Please note that the area directly in front of the cottage is mud flats and safe for kids to play at low tide but not your traditional beach. You must drive or boat to local beaches. You can also swim off of the docks at high tide and there is a small rocky beach area for small children close to the docks. The house has no central air conditioning or central heat. This is a summer cottage and can be chilly in the spring and fall. Looking for a rustic cottage in a quiet community this is your vacation spot. Please contact me directly and I will answer all questions about the area as best as I can.
