About Janel Garno
Janel, her husband Dan, and six children are from lower Michigan and have always enjoyed the outdoors, especially around water. The family had vacationed at this home numerous times before recently purchasing the home. Dan has enjoyed a lifetime of fishing and has found this location to be one of the best you can find. All of the six children prefer to play in the sand and water the entire day. Several of the children are now taking up an interest in fishing as well. While Janel grew up with one sibling, Dan has 14 siblings. Family gatherings at a lake home like this have been a highlight for the owners for many years.
Janel Garno purchased this House in 2015
Why Janel Garno chose Algoma, Unorganized, North Part
Having known the prior owners of this home, and having vacationed at this very site, made this home and location of special interest. In fact, the home is only about 10 years old and the Garno's vacationed in the area before the home was even built. If you enjoy the outdoors, water, swimming, fishing, sand, and great family time, this is an experience you will keep with you for a lifetime.
What makes this House unique
First of all, this large 11 acre wooded lot provides a peaceful and secluded setting. Whether you are just a couple wanting a peaceful week away, or a family with children wanting to make a little noise on the beach, you will find this location to provide a nice private setting to enjoy. One of the very unique attractions are the occasional freighters and ships from around the world that pass directly in front of the home. There are few places where this experience can be enjoyed, and this is one. Experiencing the ferry ride, staying on an island, enjoying the company of family, fishing, swimming, evenings around the campfire, and much much more make this location one of the most unique you will ever find.

Great getaway ...
Wonderful cabin provided a great getaway for our family of 4. The unusually cold weather did not allow for the fishing fun we hoped for, but the nature, solitude and history of the area were entertaining. The Soo Locks are incredible - and the huge ships moving through the channels were a sight. Owners were very hospitable - and all the info was well-communicated. This is a must visit for fishing season!!
NOVEMBER 3-4 STAY AT THE CABIN
Had a great time. Was everything it said. Had a dusting of snow one morning. Will do again next year.
Wonderful!
Great place, amazing sunsets, comfortable accommodations!
Loved The Sugar Island Cabin!
I'm from Florida and met family from Wisconsin at the cabin. We loved it and hated to leave! It's well furnished, comfortable and so peaceful! We did a few day trips and it is a bit of a drive to catch the ferry but we all agreed it was well worth it.
Sugar Island Cabin A+++
This is a Beautiful cabin on the south end of Sugar Island.
The inside is of the knotty pine variety for a cozy up north feeling ,while the open floor plan provides you with spacious room with all of your modern conveniences, such as WIFI and satellite TV.
The Master bedroom is on the ground floor and the up stairs has multiple beds for the kids. What can beat that ??!!
It has a nice sandy beach for swimming or sit back in a lawn chair and watch freighters as they float by. Or lay in the hammock and read your favorite novel.
Has great docking accommodations for your boat.
Would highly recommend to anyone that likes to vacation on/near the water.
Great Cabin, Great Location, Wonderful Stay
Our family has stayed at this cabin for the last three years over the Labor Day Weekend. We love it. The cabin is very nice and accommodating. It has everything you'd need. We rent the pontoon boat as well and take rides around Neebbish Island as well as chase freighters up and down the St. Mary's river. Before our arrival, we stop at Walmart in Sault St. Marie and purchase our groceries for the weekend. There is also a corner store just 2 miles from the cabin if you need pop, milk, eggs, chips, etc. They also have a boat dock you can pull up to from the water to fill up your boat. I'd recommend this cabin to any family or couple looking for a nice quite get away with a great water view and view of the passing freighters.
