We searched for the perfect lakeside cottage for many years and this quaint, charming home and beach had it all! Secluded location with friendly neighbors where you will want to sit on the large patio and look at the lake all day long observing wildlife and the reflection of undeveloped lakeside wilderness across the lake. True North Country experience with many opportunities for activities, restaurants, pubs, museums, shops etc.
Our family of four really enjoyed our time at this wonderful vacation spot. The house is stocked with everything you could possibly need for your week and more. Nice and cozy with beautiful views of the woods and lake. The fireplace was nice to have too! Our kids loved having the lake in their own backyard and swimming and catching frogs all day. The neighbors were very friendly as well. Beaver Island is such a special place and staying in a nice cabin such as this is just icing on the cake! Thanks again!
We came all the way from Dallas to enjoy this beautiful and quiet area with some of our family in Michigan. Getting there was a little time consuming for us traveling from Dallas but we really enjoyed the cozy cottage, lake and surrounding area. We had everything we needed at the cottage, although bikes would have been nice to have. We did rent bikes in St. James and toured some of the areas of the island. McAllister's cottage is a little slice of heaven if you really want to get away from it all.
Our stay in this charming little cottage was nothing short of breathtaking. It offers a beautiful view of Lake G and tons of peace and quiet. Perfect place for those looking to get away from the hectic pace of everyday life. Stunning views, friendly neighbors and plenty of R&R. Hoping very much to be able to stay there again!
The cottage was perfect for our family of four. It had everything we needed. Mornings and evenings were so quiet and peaceful, looking out over the lake. The kids enjoyed fishing and we all enjoyed kayaking. There are several beaches nearby, and we had a great time exploring the island! We're already talking about going back!
Just returned from a week here and my husband already wants to go back! We brought our 5 kids who range in age from 2-13 years. They loved the kayaks, playing in the lake, sand, and big shady yard, and campfires with s'mores every night. Brought our small fishing boat and it was so convenient to dock it right at the property for use anytime. Right down the road is the beautiful beach at Iron Ore Bay. Although it's a public beach, we went there daily and only encountered ONE other family the entire week. Amazing!
Lovely, private, and peaceful. Loved listening to the loons at night. If you're looking for rest, nature, and quality time together as a family, this is a great choice. Owners are kind and helpful. We packed much of our own food, which was nice since the property is a bit further from town. But you could also buy from McDonough's market, which is really not terribly overpriced. Special place on a very special island. Thank you, Sheila!
