The Perfect Place For A Getaway. Comfortable And Cozy. Yet Elegant And Chic!
ABOUT THE PROPERTY TWO BEDROOM WITH TWO FULL BATHS
I live on three acres filled with magnolias, pine, oak, cypress, bamboo galore, azaleas, camellias and crepe myrtles nestled right up to a river. My house opens up to expansive views of the river. No matter what season it is, I love the beauty and peacefulness of the place. I also have a one bedroom apartment further up on the acreage if you need both! Its called 'You wished it were yours"-#510569.
My house has a comfortable layout with two RH down sofas, 55 inch Apple TV in the main room with NETFLIX, has 360 views of woods and river. Step out into the porch and grill right from the deck. Each room is filled with impeccable decor filled with antiques and contemporary. The kitchen boasts of the newest convection cooking with fine dining farm table and dinette seating. The Master bedroom has new king size bedding and serves as a quiet repose away from the house with Asian bamboo peeking in from the French doors. But the real treat is the spa retreat in the master bath. Soak in the stone tub while you are surrounded by views of trees or shower in the all glass enclosed area. The guest bath has a jacuzzi tub and shower with beautiful vanity. The guest queen bed with new mattress is also airy bright and cheerful. There is a outside back deck that overlooks the river where one could sit for hours. There is a patio on ground level that has a hammock, wooden swing and picnic table where we love to roast marshmallows in the fire pit. Use the outdoor shower for all the river wading you will do!. Walk along the expansive boardwalk, play croquet, swing, lay in the hammock under the towering pines or play board games. The three acres are filled with wildlife and you just might catch a deer 🦌 running through. You will not be disappointed.
Downtown Covington is nearby and you will find a very quaint town filled with nice restaurants and boutiques. Framers markets on Saturday’s. Or walk/bike ride the trace nearby.

About Parris Bailey
We are pastors for over 35 years in New Orleans. We chose this place to rest and enjoy. I also oversee a women's and men's restoration center and have the privilege of seeing lives transformed.
Parris Bailey purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2012
Why Parris Bailey chose Covington
It is just a special place to regroup from the city, see wildlife, hear the nuns ring their bells every morning, and walk in a river for hours and virtually see no one around. Yes close enough to a small quaint town to enjoy good food and get what your need. Close to the Tammany Trace, other rivers and wonderful food and shopping all nearby. It is our special place.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
You can rent both houses or just stay at my special home.

Upscale river house, tastefully decorated, and very cozy. Amazing park like grounds. Fantastic familhy retreat. Can't wait to go back.
Very private and charming retreat!
Beautiful cabin nestled by the river! The bathrooms are what dreams are made of. Every room has amazing views of the surrounding nature. Plenty of outdoor accommodations to utilize. Our weekend was kind of rainy so we would love to return when it’s nicer and we can play outside more!
What a fabulous home for peace & quiet. Great layout, well designed & decorated for a perfect weekend experience. Owner was so easy to work with and we'll be back soon we hope!
This beautifully decorated home has a wonderful open floor plan and all the comforts of home. Very clean. My family appreciated all the windows and scenic views. One morning we enjoyed watchinig a blue heron fly over the river. Can't wait to come when it's warmer so we can enjoy walking or canoeing in the river. My husband appreciated the fact that they had Netflix. Very convient to all Northshore events but far enough from the hustle and bustle of the city to have peace and quite. Don't miss out on seeing Global Wildflife Refuge, Otis House and the beautiful oak trees that line Lake Ponchatrain (on the levee in Mandeville) and Fountainbleau State Park. Only minutes to a wide variety of delicious restaurants in Covington. We recommend Toad Hallow(for breakfast), Di Martino's, Del Porto's, Gallagher's, and Sal n Judy's(in Lacombe best Italian try crab claws). Try a traditional doberge cake from Mandeville Bake shop (on Hwy. 22) or Zoe's(Covington) delicious strawberry cake. Best places to eat in New Orleans are Palace Cafe,GW Finns, Rebirth(seafood stew), and of course Cafe Du Monday(for beignets). By the way, you can get great beignets at Cafe du Monde on Hwy 21 in Covington. Great way to start a busy morning of sight seeing. Parris Bailey was an absolute pleasure. She was extremely helpful. Can't wait to return. The only thing we would wish for is steps to the river instead of the ladder. Thank you Parris for sharing your wonderful home with us.
Different.. but Inviting until the end..
We were happy to stay here as we had our young adult children nearby on property to visit.
I have been a repeat homeaway customer. I had to turn a blind eye to a frig left with opened food. Some current the other half expired. Drawers in the kitchen were filled with a miscellaneous disarray of utensils etc but not enough basics? Plates and bowls.
Bathrooms the same. Sense there were “part time” occupants somewhere.
I recommend this beautiful home a good cleaning of drawers kitchen/bathroom and be set up properly!
The kicker: owner admits previous renter may have had a party and had moved furniture. When a “phone cord” for a cell phone went missing we were docked all but $35 of our $150. My husband and I are in our mid 50’s . I do not need an extra phone cord not to mention we left this home better than received.
Beware renters! Beautiful home aside from some general cleaning issues but you may be tricked in the end .
Thanks ChrIstine from your response. Am sorry that your visit was met with some disappointments. This is the first time I’ve gotten such a low rating. I sent you the back the $35.00 charge for the missing phone cords months ago. Your son and daughter were super guests at the other rental.
A hiding place in the trees
We loved this place.
It was 15 min from our equestrian event and we could tell it was renovated recently with an eclectic eye. The owner could not have been more helpful. We do plan to stay here again next year.
If you stay in this house you MUST go to Zoe’s bakery to pick up a strawberry cake and I can recommend a barbecue place named SMOKE which is 5 min away. Great place, host and location.
Thanks for loving my special place!
Everything is close nearby. I love the fresh farmers markets around town. There are plenty of great restaurants.
