About Joan Reed

I was born in Llano, raised on our family ranch and graduated from Llano High School. Attended college in Austin and moved back to Llano to marry. Lost my husband of 42 years to cancer. Remarried in 2008 to Lony Reed.

Joan Reed purchased this house in 2005

Why Joan Reed chose Llano

My husband and his late wife came from Louisiana for many years each fall to hunt. They fell in love with Llano county and decided to make it their home. They worked to clear the land and built their house and Mountain View. Mountain View was originally built for Lony's mother-in-law.

What makes this house unique

From the living room and the front porch there is a view of the surrounding mountains to the east. The sunrises are awesome! Don't be surprised if the miniature donkeys and Gypsy (the horse) come up to the fence for "treats".

Great for a girls weekend!

  • 5 of 5

This is an amazing place to stay! Four of us went for girls weekend, and it was the perfect place for it. The host Kristie is super responsive, helpful and accommodating. She's great to work with. The couple that lives on the property are also incredibly hospitable. You get gorgeous views from the front porch, and the house is really clean and comfortable. Highly recommend!

Hill Country Gem!

  • 5 of 5

The Mountain View Guest House is a beautiful place to stay. It had plenty of room for the 8 of us that came to celebrate a 30th birthday. The view can't be beat off the front porch, you can see for miles. The hummingbirds were a nice touch too! If you're in to hiking there's a trail that heads up to the ridge behind the house from where you can see so much, including enchanted rock! The owners were gracious enough to let us check in early and check out late. When it came time to leave we really didn't want to go!

We completely enjoyed our stay at the Mountain View Guest House! The welcoming from the Reeds and their many four-legged family members began the start of our heartwarming stay. The guest house surrounded by beautiful flowers and plants and mountain views provided a comfortable and relaxing stay. The ranch tour and history were much appreciated and ended up being one of the favorite parts of our trip. Thank you to the Reeds for sharing your lovely place! We would definitely stay again.
