About Barb

We have enjoyed living in the Puget Sound Area for over 25 years. Staying active outdoors is easy to hike, boat (Barb is an avid dragon boater!), swim and bike close to our home. Our home feels like living in a country setting yet we are so close to everything!

Why Barb chose Washington State

We built our home 15 years ago with the intention of hosting families. That dream did not happen but we are now opening our walk-out (lower level) to visitors. We respect the privacy of our guests but look forward to getting to know folks staying in our house.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This unit is spacious and very well maintained. The location is second to none with a wonderful lake just a short walk to the north. Walking or running on the neighborhood streets was a quiet and beautiful experience. The unit was clean and had new appliances and furnishings. It was conveniently located close to restaurants, hiking, and shopping. We had 3 adults in our party and the Owner surprised us with a second bedroom fully furnished in lieu of the advertised aero-matress! It was heaven!!

Very clean, spacious and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

The property is very clean and spacious, with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. It's private and real quiet, but not too far from food, groceries or your everyday shopping.

Barb (host) was quick to respond and very helpful. Will definitely look to stay here again when visiting the area.

I was blown away at how nice the apartment was. Very relaxing setting in beautiful area of trees !

  • 5 of 5

We loved this apartment. Lots of big windows letting in lots of light. A very private garden area so no one could see in! We so enjoyed walking in the mornings and evenings in the neighborhood. Everything you could possibly need was provided. The owners were very attentive to our needs without being intrusive! Bebe and Bart!

Perfect Accommodations

  • 5 of 5

My son wanted to attend a baseball training facility in Kent. I found this rental and could not have been happier, the rental was amazing. The accommodations were second to none. The owners went above and beyond to make our stay a pleasure, they are very knowledgable in the history of the area and provided us with a list of places of interest to visit during our two week stay. Upon arrival they made us fresh baked banana muffins and it was a pleasure having conversations with the owners, they even put out a request to see if any of their neighbors were available to take us out on a boat fishing. The rental was absolutely beautiful, very peaceful and quiet. Will definitely stay there again and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for the perfect place to stay for half the price of a hotel and so much more to offer.

Owner's Response: We are so pleased you and Brad enjoyed your stay with us. Next time we will share more about adventures in Seattle. Our local area has numerous lakes for fishing, miles of mountain bike trails and skiing in the winter time. You might consider a trip to Mt Rainier...the wild flowers are in full bloom in August!

The perfect place to stay while visiting Seattle area!

  • 5 of 5

From the moment I saw the listing I was impressed with this vacation rental. Our host (Barb) responded immediately to my inquiry, answered all of my questions and made our visit perfect.

We arrived very late and everything was ready when we opened the door to our cozy get-away.

The home is very well appointed and quite comfortable. We are already planning our next visit for graduation next year and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else.

Things we loved about it:

Big kitchen with lots of space and everything you need to prepare meals.

Seating around the kitchen island and a dining room table!

Wonderful new stainless steel appliances (huge refrigerator!)

Giant, full sized washer and dryer!

Cozy furniture, comfortable beds with cushy bedding, plenty of pillows and extra blankets, sheets and throws!

The shower has a handheld shower head!

Plenty of shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc.

A very high powered hair dryer (not the cheap hotel brand that doesn't dry anything!)

Soft, cushy towels (not the scratchy kind the hotels use).

Beautiful landscaping and even a babbling brook near the front of the property.

This place is so quiet and peaceful, we didn't want to leave.

THAT FIREPLACE!! (it deserves two comments!)

Parking right on the property.

A real bargain (we paid less than 1/2 what the Seattle hotels are charging and no daily fee for parking)

High-speed wifi with easy connections.

Giant flat-screen television with plenty of cable channels to watch.

There is a beautiful park across the street!!!

We will be back!

What a wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We had come in for a grand baby's birthday in Maple Valley. The Owner communicated with us on everything we needed to know, welcomed us and even had fresh fruit waiting for us when we arrived. It was quite, setting was just breath taking, the rooms were well stocked with everything we would want or need. It was just like being at home. PLUS, they had fresh ground coffee, several types waiting for us. It was a great way to start each day. We had our own place to park, the entrance was secure and we felt right at home. We will come back, and recommend it to anyone looking for a "at home" place to stay.

Perfect place to stay for a weekend or a month!

  • 5 of 5

I met my long-time friend here for a weekend get together. The unit is nicely decorated and very, very comfortable. The owners have put thought into each room anticipating what a traveler might need. The location is a lovely residential neighborhood that is very quiet. It's close to fun places like the Black Diamond Bakery (great place to eat or pick up a yummy treat!). Barb was easy to contact when needed and when we arrived, she greeted us with ingredients for s'mores & a fire pit all ready to be lit. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Owner's Response: Liz, I am so glad you liked your stay! I hope you return and enjoy the outdoor fire pit close to the seasonal stream. We have an acre of property to explore native plants and wildlife. Of course, the indoor fireplace is a great place to sip wine or coffee and chat too!
