About Barb

We have enjoyed living in the Puget Sound Area for over 25 years. Staying active outdoors is easy to hike, boat (Barb is an avid dragon boater!), swim and bike close to our home. Our home feels like living in a country setting yet we are so close to everything!

Why Barb chose Washington State

We built our home 15 years ago with the intention of hosting families. That dream did not happen but we are now opening our walk-out (lower level) to visitors. We respect the privacy of our guests but look forward to getting to know folks staying in our house.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This unit is spacious and very well maintained. The location is second to none with a wonderful lake just a short walk to the north. Walking or running on the neighborhood streets was a quiet and beautiful experience. The unit was clean and had new appliances and furnishings. It was conveniently located close to restaurants, hiking, and shopping. We had 3 adults in our party and the Owner surprised us with a second bedroom fully furnished in lieu of the advertised aero-matress! It was heaven!!

What a wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We had come in for a grand baby's birthday in Maple Valley. The Owner communicated with us on everything we needed to know, welcomed us and even had fresh fruit waiting for us when we arrived. It was quite, setting was just breath taking, the rooms were well stocked with everything we would want or need. It was just like being at home. PLUS, they had fresh ground coffee, several types waiting for us. It was a great way to start each day. We had our own place to park, the entrance was secure and we felt right at home. We will come back, and recommend it to anyone looking for a "at home" place to stay.

Owner's Response: Hi Roxy, We are delighted your stay with us was so enjoyable. You are welcome to come back and experience more activities on our property. Fall is a great time to visit our area. We could set-up up our outdoor fire pit and provide smores for your family!

Perfect place to stay for a weekend or a month!

  • 5 of 5

I met my long-time friend here for a weekend get together. The unit is nicely decorated and very, very comfortable. The owners have put thought into each room anticipating what a traveler might need. The location is a lovely residential neighborhood that is very quiet. It's close to fun places like the Black Diamond Bakery (great place to eat or pick up a yummy treat!). Barb was easy to contact when needed and when we arrived, she greeted us with ingredients for s'mores & a fire pit all ready to be lit. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Owner's Response: Liz, I am so glad you liked your stay! I hope you return and enjoy the outdoor fire pit close to the seasonal stream. We have an acre of property to explore native plants and wildlife. Of course, the indoor fireplace is a great place to sip wine or coffee and chat too!

Excellent location, adorable suite.

  • 5 of 5

My SIL and I spent two nights in this ground level suite and we were very comfortable. The suite is very well appointed with all of the usual kitchen supplies, a good size bathroom with dual sinks and separate shower/bath/toilet, comfy beds, and a washer/dryer.

The owner was so nice and helpful, she even brought us a bag with organic eggs, yogurt, coffee, cream and muffins!

We really liked the location, a short drive to shopping but it felt like a world away. We went for a few walks in the neighborhood, people were very friendly and the scenery was gorgeous!

I would highly recommend this suite, the location is quiet and beautiful, the owners are very nice and helpful and the price is very reasonable.

Owner's Response: Come and stay with us again sometime. I will point out the best hiking and mountain bike trails in the area. We are so close to outdoor recreation yet just a short drive from City stuff too. We also have a super night life at Kent Station just 5 miles away! I am so glad you enjoyed your visit to Kent.

2016 Christmas Holiday

  • 5 of 5

We needed a place to stay while visiting our daughter and her family for Christmas (they have a small home). We were thrilled to find this gem which was so close to them and in a very nice neighborhood. The apartment is a walk-out basement in the owner's home. We had all of the privacy that we needed, yet the owners were just a text away. The apartment was very nice and spotless, and had all newer appliances. The kitchen was well equipped with pots, pans, cooking utensils, coffee pot - everything needed to enjoy cooking there. They even supplied coffee! We will not think twice to book this one again! Thank you Barb and George for the memories that were made in this home! Happy New Year!

Owner's Response: I am so glad you enjoyed your stay in our apartment. During your next visit to the area be sure to walk the loop around Lake Morton. Views of the Lake and Mount Rainier are visible. You can also grab a good book too! There is a Lake Morton Lending library ...a neighbor built a small kiosk along side the road for anyone who wants to borrow a book (or leave a book). You are welcome to return anytime.
