About Vacasa, OR - Mt Hood / Hood River Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Loved the locations, very disappointed with the cleanliness of home.

They did refund $60 for the cleaning fee since it was so dirty, think they should have refunded more, took away from our vacation!

Looks Can Be Very Deceiving.........

 • 2 of 5

The area is beautiful and we definitely want to return, just not to this particular property.

The pictures paint a nice, bright, clean space... and reality is a tad different. The floors could have used a good cleaning to start. As for the lights, I'm sure that it had potential to be bright if half of them weren't burnt out and if they happened to be brighter than 25W incandescent bulbs. In fact, most of the photos look like either there is additional lighting behind the camera, or they were digitally manipulated to be brighter.

The master claimed that it had a queen, but really it was a full bed which it a bit tight for two adults. The bunk beds are crammed into the second bedroom and a little awkward to climb into.

The kitchen was quaint, if a bit dangerous to operate. Light levels were again low, making precision prep difficult to prepare a "fantastic" meal as advertised. The larger danger is from the gas range. I love cooking with gas, but I don't love the total lack of a vent. All it has is a simple once through grease fan so to cook you have to open the front door. During spring/fall I'm sure it's fine. When it's 10 degrees out it's pretty ridiculous. Also, cutting holes up high in the wall between the kitchen and living room isn't "venting".

As for the bathrooms, they had their share of issues. The full bath by the bedrooms is not vented to code, so both the sink and bath/shower fill up and drain very, very slowly. To the point that you can't really take a shower. This bathroom also lacks any sort of vent fan (do we see a theme here?). We found the window in the bathroom taken off it's pane with the blind drawn. We found this after wondering why the bathroom was so cold (again it's 10 degrees outside). The 3/4 bath off the kitchen dining area at least had a fan and was legally vented, but it had a louvered pantry style "door" that didn't even close all the way so there is no privacy (nor any way to really contain any odors that may come from such a space).

If there is snow, don't plan on using the hot tub. At least not unless you bring your own snow shovel as the owner wasn't gracious enough to have one accessible.

Lastly, don't trust the line about there being "plently" of firewood. There were about 7 pieces (just enough for a small fire). When we called the management about it we were told we could use the wood outside (after hemming and hawing) but it was still drying and not suitable for burning without smoking out the place.

Leaky fireplace

 • 3 of 5

Owners need to get the fireplace fixed before allowing guests to use it. Leaks smoke into the house in dangerous amounts.

Basic propery

 • 5 of 5

This property was alright to stay at for a few nights. It great room was terrific, with 2 french doors leading to the deck, ample seating and a beautiful fireplace. But the thermostat didn't work for us, so it was a cold 2 nights for sleeping. Nor could we find any extra blankets, Brrrrr...! Also, one of the bathtub knobs is broken so there is a wrench to turn it on. Remodeling - even basic- would give this room appeal. The bathroom near the washer/dryer is much nicer. The appliances seem newer and very clean. Overall, the property has everything you need.

Great getaway to escape the busy life.

 • 5 of 5

Our family who is busy with work, school and sports 7 days a week took a couple nights here to get away from it all. The cabin was well situated for a young family with room to stretch and a guest room of bunk beds and games. We spent the entire day in our pajamas while sitting by the fire. This allowed us some much needed nap time, reading and game time while taking swims in the hot tub. Just what we needed.
