Boat required to access off the grid living on a unique boat house
Guests will have to have their own boat or kayak/canoe, or use my double kayak (30 minute paddle) to paddle to boathouse, or rent a boat at Fontana Marina or Prince Boat Dock to access this totally remodeled 265 sq ft solar powered boathouse and is located in a sheltered cove in the Stecoah Creek area directly on Fontana Lake. It is the perfect spot for fishing, boating, relaxing, ect. The boathouse can only be accessed by water. There is no walking to the boathouse since it is floating in the lake and is not at the end of a dock. There is no transportation to the boat house from any local marina. Guests with their own canoe/kayak/boat can launch and park their vehicle with gated/key access by contacting a local boat landing which is about 30 minutes canoe/kayak distance from the boat house. I will provide that number when the boat house is booked as it is a local private landing and not a commercial business.
Guests will need to bring their own sleeping bags/sheets/pillow cases/towels and 1 lb propane tank is they want to use the small portable grill as none of these are provided.
The boathouse is totally off the grid which means no cable television, no wifi, no phone, no AC, and probably no cell service.
The boathouse features a kitchen area with Italian granite tiled kitchen, and pebble tiled backsplash, under counter fridge/freezer and cooktop, bar seating for 4, a 12 cup Mr Coffee maker, toaster oven, dinnerware and utensils, basic kitchen supplies, pots/pans, and paper towels/garbage bags.
The living room area features a reclining loveseat couch, and 32" TV with blue ray player with approx. 50 DVD's.
The bedroom area has (3) full/double beds (2 of which are bunk beds). Pillows are provided but guests will need to bring their own bedding/linens/towels/ect.
The bathroom features a 12 sq ft slate tiled shower, sink, and marine toilet with marine toilet paper provided.
The partially covered front deck area faces the lake and National Forest and has a picnic table, serving area, small portable grill (guests must provide their own 1 lb propane tanks/) and 2 reclining chairs.
The back of the boat house has an wooden fish carving platform and a metal fish box for storing bait.
There are 2 single kayaks included with the rental when at the boathouse.
For guests that do not have their own boat, my double kayak can be used if guests used to access the boathouse. Otherwise it is staked off at the private boat launch.
This rental is a unique property for guests that are adaptable to working with solar power, marine toilet, water pump, propane water heater and are able to provide their own and linens/towels and propane for grilling.
The boat house does not have a cleaning crew so guests will need to clean up after themselves and remove all garbage on departure. The boathouse is stocked with Marine toilet paper, paper towels, soap for washing dishes/hands/shampoo, and garbage bags. There are some spices/salt/pepper and basic kitchen supplies.
Pets are not allowed on the furniture or beds and guests are requested to refrain from allowing pets in the boathouse when wet.
Lake Fontana water levels vary during the year but the boat house is always floating.

About Gaylene de Weijer
My family and I love this lake and area because of its proximity to all the things we love to do like water sports, mountain biking, white water rafting, and just relaxing on this beautiful 30 mile long wilderness lake.
Gaylene de Weijer purchased this House Boat in 2015
Why Gaylene de Weijer chose Robbinsville
We loved the idea of being totally off the grid and living on solar power. It is a little like glamping where you have all the comforts of a solid roof over your head in inclement weather but can still relax with movies and games while cooking and grilling under cover. There is very little boat traffic in the area and the water is perfect for swimming in the summer. Locals love this area as there is great fishing in this lake especially during the cooler months.
What makes this House Boat unique
My husband and I love the super comfortable bed and the spacious slate tiled shower. My favorite thing to do at night is have a lovely fire going in the firepit and watch the moon rise over the mountains. My husband favorite thing is to relax and watch movies at night and know it is all powered by the sun.

Very peaceful place to stay
This was a really neat little place to get away. We enjoyed the peacefulness and serenity of the lake. My husband really loved being able to just fish right off of the dock from where we were staying. I would recommend not allowing animals since it's such a small cabin it did have an odor of wet dog but thank goodness I use Young Living Essential Oils and brought my diffuser. I was able to get rid of the smell other than on the mattress. Galen was very responsive to anything that we needed while we were there and assured us that she would be making it a rule that you cannot have your animals on the furniture.
Pets are not allowed on the couch or beds. As a side note there might be a bit of product advertising promotion in this guests review.....
As described and perfect for a couple
Amazing experience! Look forward to returning for years to come.
Great Get Away
Great time. Excellent weather. I will be back!
Tranquility, beauty, relaxation
Great weekend away from busyness of life. Adequate accommodations for two. The kayaks were a favorite. Waking up to a sunrise on the water is amazing, and coffee maker to boot. Will definitely come back.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The place is extremely clean and having the propane provided was a great amenity. The cove is quiet and very peaceful. If you have a boat that runs decently fast, prince isn't too far at all to put in from. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking to get away for a day or two.
Lovely spot for a respite!
Charming boathouse that comes with all the amenities and friendly ducks!
