As always what a fabulous weekend at the Tortuga Frio! We celebrated my parents 45th wedding anniversary and couldn't think of a better place to spend it. Cozy family environment with a wonderful view and a terrific clear creek. Thank you so much to the Browns for making this such a special stay. We will definitely be back soon!
Amazing spot to relax and getaway.
House was perfect for our family of 6. Amazing swimming hole with everything necessary for a good time, including chairs on the dock, paddle boards, kayaks, and floaties. Loved the town of Kerrville as well.
Great house with easy water access
Peaceful setting with lots of birds. Catch and release fishing, primarily bluegill and a few largemouth bass. The water is very clear, and reasonably deep (about 6-7 feet at the deepest parts). The house can comfortably sleep 6 and has a great back porch with a view of the creek and adjacent limestone cliff face. No cell phone service, which for us was a bonus! The owners are very gracious and accommodating. We had a great time and would definitely stay again.
Thank you for the awesome review! Despite the drought, our water has managed to remain perfect for hot Texas days. I’m so happy you and your family enjoyed it!
As for cell service, it is sketchy. That is why we installed a landline. As a mom, the idea of not having phone service made me uncomfortable. I wouldn’t want any of our guests to feel the same. So you can still say there wasn’t phone service if you want to remain unreachable, yet call when necessary.
We hope you’ll come back and stay with us either at this home or one of our other 3. They are all on water and family/friend/kid friendly!
Take care and thanks again!
Fabulous family getaway!
We loved staying at Tortuga Frio and will definitely book again for future getaways. We could walk out the door and jump right in the water - no stress, no hassle. The house is equipped with floats, kayaks, paddle boards, life jackets; everything you need for fun on the creek. Our 4 year old loved feeding the fish and the turtles each day, and we loved watching the birds and deer from the porch. Even in late June, we were comfortable outside with the breeze off the creek and shady trees in the yard. The house is clean and comfortable, the kitchen is well-appointed, and all of our technology needs (wif-fi and flatscreen tvs) were met 100%. Lori was a wonderful hostess, and made sure we had everything we need.
Absolutely perfect !
The privacy and amenities were above and beyond what we expected. It really couldn't be any better. The river was cool and clear, a stone's throw from the house. The house was impeccably clean, spacious, modern and comfortably furnished. Many personal touches by the owner; a welcoming bottle of wine with note, 4 cushioned porch rockers overlooking the river, 2 well stocked bird feeders by the porch and lots of river 'toys' such as a paddle board, tubes, kayaks, noodles, etc. We especially enjoyed eating outside at the covered picnic table area every evening. The house and outside furniture were freshly painted and completely dust free. Lori was super accessible and welcoming. We are already planning a return visit!
