Why Dylan Caldwell chose Crescent City
This property has been owned by my family since my early childhood. I spent many happy years there growing up, and have done a great deal of custom work personally on the house, prior to purchasing it myself two years ago. After relocating to Arcata, CA for a new career opportunity, I decided to share my home with others as a vacation rental.
What makes this House unique
This property is unique for some of the best sweeping river views on the Smith River. It sits on two beautiful acres with a large garden, orchard, and field surrounded by redwood forest.

Great Property right on the Smith River
This property is beautiful and right on the Smith River. The house is older but big and welcoming with multiple heat sources. It is also very private and at the end of the street.
There is no 'cable' which was fine for us. The dart board and pool table were much more entertaining anyways. Communication with the owner was great and made all logistics very easy.
Comfortable home, great view
We really enjoyed staying at Dylan’s home. The view of the river was great and loved that it was so private and spacious.
Beautiful spread on the Smith River
An amazing property on the lower Smith River with good river access and lots of space. The house felt like someone's home, without the usual kitschy vacation rental decorations. The kids really enjoyed the redwood stump gnome house. We would love to return.
Rustic charm in a great location
After spending time in the local parks it was lovely to return to this quiet and natural location. While the home is lacking some amenities (dishwasher, blow dryer, extra bedding) it is well set up for a lot of other family fun (pool, darts, fire pit, horse shoes). Jedediah Smith Park is only 15 minutes away and the Redwoods National Park is just a one hour drive south. Crescent City has many great restaurants - SeaQuest Brewery, Hawaiian BBQ and Vita Cucina are the few we tried and would return to again. The view of the river was perfect for morning coffee.
Beautiful grounds. Great central spot to explore redwoods and crescent city. Lots of fun games.
Very comfortable cabin. Very comfortable bed upstairs but one bed downstairs was not the best. Also could use more blankets of varying warmth, so maybe you should bring your own. The extra blankets are not big enough, and are more like couch throws. Nice, soft sheets. We really enjoyed the use of the pool table, horseshoes, darts, grill, fire pit, and other fun game outside. Great spot on the river for floating with inner tube. Nice and shallow for kids. Very peaceful and overall amazing!
Beautiful views and a lovely property with plenty to do. The owner is very thoughtful and is attentive to requests. We would stay here again.
