Rustic two-story farmhouse-style attached apartment converted from a former lobsterman's workshop. Wide plank (some squeaky) floors throughout, narrow steep stairway, ideal for those looking for authentic Maine island charm. Old-fashioned glider out front gets morning sun exposure. One double bed or two twin beds. Beds are very comfortable, great location for walking to Main Street and ferry. Near water but no views. This is not a good choice for people who are expecting a modern "fancy" place. There aren't electric outlets and switches on every wall in every room for instance, but there are plenty of lamps, the kitchen is well stocked includes lobster pot, coffee maker, and toaster. The owners might be in the connected house while you are here but we are a quiet older couple. No pets allowed. Maximum occupancy is two adults.

Excellent location and accomodations.

This was my first trip to Vinalhaven (and definitely not my last!). The rental is nicely decorated and equipped with everything that you need for a fun stay in this great town. I cooked lobsters almost every day. It is centrally located to town so that you really do not need a car to get to most locations. (If you do, take the local taxi.) Caleb provided wonderful suggestions as to food and local attractions as well as went above and beyond as a landlord. Would highly recommend this rental and plan to return. Thanks!

We had a wonderful time in Vinalhaven. The space was simple, but perfect for what we needed. The owner was very helpful responding to the few requests we had. Definitely recommended!

Island Get Away

We enjoyed our stay on Vinalhaven!! The small house was perfect for our needs. It was clean and comfortable. We were able to eat breakfast and make lunches in a well equipped kitchen. We loved the Maine Cottage Furniture!!! It was an easy walk to town where we were able to enjoy some great meals at Harbor Gawker and Salt. Our last morning we ate a great breakfast at the Homeport Family Restaurant. Also rented a car one day at the Tidewater Hotel because we wanted to explored areas we could not walk to and then drive to dock on the other side of the island so we could go to a Barn Seafood Supper at the Turner Farm on North Haven. Nebo Lodge picked us up to cross the Fox Island Tororfare. Highly recommend the trip!!!!

A perfect fit for the first time traveler or couple!

This multi-level apartment is perfect for first time islanders. With its eclectic charm, plenty of sunlight and many books to choose from, it’s a perfect hide away. The apartment is equipped with most (if not all) supplies needed during a vacation stay, and the beds were comfortable.

'The location, just outside of Vinalhaven’s town center, makes it great for excursions on foot. Across the street is the Historical Society, and around the corner you can stop in for an ice cream at Vinalhaven Candy Co. For a seafood lunch, the Harbor Gawker is close by. Take short drive in the other direction and you can swim at Lawson’s Quarry.


Looking for more to do? Caleb has this covered! Upon entering the apartment, you will find the apartment’s rental rules, and on the backside Caleb has added his suggestions for exploring the island. You will also find several maps/pamphlets with information for many of the trails/preserves.

Caleb was very pleasant to work with and was easily accessible for any questions I had. I hope to stay in this apartment again during my next visit!

Excellent choice for Island Stay

I needed somewhere to stay on Vinalhaven while emptying a house I was selling there. The apartment was perfect: Clean, well laid out, it had everything I needed. My stay was very peaceful, the bed was very comfortable, and I slept very well. I look forward to staying in it again in the future, as I will surely vacation in Vinalhaven.
