Rustic two-story 1850s farmhouse-style attached apartment converted from a former lobsterman's workshop. Wide plank (some squeaky) floors throughout, narrow steep stairway, ideal for those looking for authentic Maine island charm. Old-fashioned glider out front next to rhododendron and rose bush gets morning sun exposure. So quiet with the sound of rustling leaves and seagulls. One TempurPedic double bed and two comfy twin beds in separate room. Apartment is in great residential location near Historical Society up on the hill for easy walking to Main Street restaurants, shops, and ferry. Near water, but not on water, with limited Carvers Cove views from upstairs bedrooms. Good neighborhood for walking, great harbor views from nearby Blueberry Lane overlook. Walk to breathtaking Lane's Island Preserve or rent bikes and kayaks in town. This is not a good choice for people who are expecting a modern "fancy" place. There aren't electric outlets and switches on every wall in every room for instance, but there are plenty of lamps, books, games and the kitchen is well-stocked including lobster pot, coffee maker, and toaster. The owners might be in the connected house while you are here but are a quiet couple and there is no open access between spaces. You have your own entryway. We provide bedding and towels. No pets, please. There is wi-fi, reception best on first floor, but no landline phone or TV. AT&T has cell towers on the island and is the best choice for cell service. Maximum occupancy is two adults. Will also consider an infant or small child with parents. Note: rate shown and minimum two-night stay is for summer. We are open to nightly stays at lower rates for May and also mid-September thru November. Contact us.

Very Sweet and perfect for what we needed.
My boyfriend and I stayed here while visiting Vinalhaven, where I grew up. It was a perfect place to have as a rejuvenating landing place while spending time with friends and family. It was, however, a bit tricky to make plans and reach others due to no phone. We mostly had to rely on the internet and just going to see if our friends and family were home in order to make plans. The simple charm matched that of the island, no need for many bells and whistles. We met Caleb and Anne, his wife while stepping out one morning and they were very kind and instantly easy to like. Thank you for everything!
Wonderful Place to enjoy VH Island
This apartment was a perfect way to enjoy VH island. A nice short walk to town and a very comfortable place from which to enjoy a relaxing week away from the busy of life. The hosts were very helpful, and when we notified them of a leak because of heavy rain they promptly helped us clean it up and resolved the issue! We would recommend a stay here!
Please come again! We were so fortunate you were there during that freakish storm and alerted us to the leak. Just needed to clean the gutter, as it turned out. Have a wonderful summer!
Affordable and good location
Overall we enjoyed our stay and loved Vinalhaven! The house is older and not fancy but worked fine for my husband and I- it was affordable and close to town/restaurants and the grocery store but a quiet neighborhood. The kitchen could use a medium size pot but we were happy there was a huge pot for cooking lobster and 2 crackers. The steps to upstairs are steep so maybe not good for older people or kids. There are many hiking trails on the island and we were happy we had a car so we could explore beyond town. There is also a quarry nearby where people swim and the Tidewater Inn in town rents bikes and kayaks. Such a beautiful place!
Thanks for coming. I’ll get a medium-size pot over there. Come again!
Tons of charm.
Great for the price!! great charm! will book again.
Cute place, well appointed with everything necessary for living confortly.
We were impressed with our communication with the owner. The place was beyond our expectations in both living necessities and decorating. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen well stocked. Location was great. The only complaint I have is a smoke detector low battery alarm during the night.
Thanks for letting me know about the alarm. Sorry about that I'll fix it now. Come again!
A perfect apartment for our stay on Vinalhaven. Situated within walking distance to all amenities, we were also pleasantly surprised to be a 20 minute walk from the local swimming hole. It is a bit of a walk from the ferry to the apartment with the last part being uphill, so arranging a ride to and from the dock would be ideal. Other than that you are set. Super comfortable bed with nice linens. The apartment is clean with a lot of unique character, just like the town of Vinalhaven. I highly recommend this place for a couple.
