Why Pamela C. Radwani chose Virginia

The current property owner, John Poindexter, an entrepreneur as well as a land and building preservationist, is a native Texan. He currently resides in Houston while considering New Kent, Virginia his second home.

With family roots in New Kent dating to the late 1600's, John began a property acquisition and restoration effort in 2013. By 2014 it included 2500 acres of rural property situated near Williamsburg, VA. The acquired properties are once again becoming farming acreage and managed forests, characteristic of the colonial era.

Unlike most entrepreneurs whose interest New Kent has captured, his intentions have been to protect and preserve.

Moss Side Cottage, part of the Moss Side Manor Estate was in disrepair when purchased in 2014. With the guidance of local craftsmen and talented advisers, the property was revitalized and updated. Moss Side's acres were once in the Poindexter family, from which it was purchased and operated for generations by the Christian family. The Christian family still lives in New Kent and remains close neighbors and friends. The Christian's were pleased to witness the masterful renovation and to see their beloved family homeplace (Moss Side Manor) restored to its original elegance.

What makes this house unique

Moss Side is a wonderful place of tranquility and retreat due to its seclusion and natural beauty. It features a natural, lush environment and direct access to 216 farm and forest acres for the enjoyment of guests. The convenient location allows access to the wineries and golf courses and the James River Plantations, and is located near Richmond and Williamsburg, as well as Hampton Roads and Northern VA/ Washington D.C.

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

My weekend was wonderful in this home. It felt like home. I didn't want to leave. During our time in the home, we spent most of our time at the table telling stories and cooking. And once we were done we played board games. The yard is huge. The pictures were exact in person unlike other places where the pictures look nothing like it is in person.

Everything was wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

Our trip started out to be a disappointment but ended up fantastic! The power had gone out from a storm the night before so Amy called to let us know about it instead of us just showing up at the house to a "surprise". We couldn't stay without power since we had a young child with us. Amy kept in touch often to let us know how the power being restored was progressing. She worked with us along the way. We were finally able to stay at the amazing cottage house to end our vacation on a high note. It was truly equipped with everything you could think you might need other than food. It is so nice and clean inside and very peaceful on some beautiful property. It also was very convenient to a lot of things we were attending yet at the same time away from the noise of the surrounding area. We are definitely planning to stay again. We are probably going to have another graduation next year and that is definitely the house for us! Amy is a great person and very caring about you being happy on this property. She is right there to take care of any problems that might arise (such as the storm affecting our stay). Amy, thank you for everything and for helping to make our vacation what we had hoped it would be!

Wonderful, Relaxing Home

  • 5 of 5

Something about this home was just so serene. We were in the area for a wedding and rented a home instead of driving for Hotels, and we were not disappointed. This home was beautifully equipped and immaculately maintained. The home had a Ralph Lauren-esque decor that was well executed and comfortable.

Our mornings were spent sipping mimosas in the plush robes (provided) around the large kitchen island-- it was the perfect relaxing start to a weekend of wedding activities. Great rental!
