Cabin on 38 acres part of which is an active Christmas Tree Farm and the rest is wooded mountain. The property is bucolic, featuring an old barn, seasonal mountain stream and pond. Beautiful views of the Green Mountains. There is a fire pit w. plenty of wood and tongs for roasting marshmallows. Ideal for hiking, snowshoeing then realxing by cozy new woodstove in the great room. Or relax in one of the hammocks listening to the creek meander by. A short ride to Quaint Old Bennington and Charming Manchester. Antique stores, premium outlets, museums and skiing all within a short drive. Please note that this is an active Christmas Tree Farm so there may be a farmer or two tending the trees while you are there- but you probably won't even notice them. #MountMeMo

About susan cicala
My husband and I have been married for 35 years and have 4 grown children who live around the country. We live full time in Delaware, but get to the cabin as often as possible. We have used VRBO many times and enjoy the personal touches that they offer.
susan cicala purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why susan cicala chose Shaftsbury
We were looking for some land in charming Vermont, when we came upon this slice of heaven. We are so thrilled with the cabin and the area, that we just bought the house next door. We would love to have you experience the wonderful scenery and serenity found here.
What makes this Cabin unique
Although the cabin is compact, it is comfortable for at least 6 people. There is one bedroom (queen) and a charming, private sleeping nook off of the kitchen (double). It has a large window that looks out over the property and the night sky. Up a steep ladder there are two small areas with 3 twin bds. (Please note, that it takes some effort to climb the ladder, so not suitable for small children or elderly) In addition to the refreshing outdoor shower there is a full indoor bath w tub/shower, laundry facilities and lots of vanity counter space for your toiletries. The kitchen area is small but well equipped- my husband likes to cook so all the utensils are there. As are serving pieces etc. The eating area seats 6 comfortably, but you may find yourself eating at the picnic table by the pond more often than not. Note that this is an active Christmas Tree Farm, so there may be a farmer or two tending to the trees. But no worries you probably won't even notice them if they are there.

Cozy Cabin - great access to hikes
We enjoyed staying in this cozy quirky cabin just after Thanksgiving. It was great to be able to take a quick walk up the hill along the path, and see folks coming to get their christmas trees. We also enjoyed easy access to hikes in the Green Mountain National Forest. The propane fire and wood stove were great to sit around in the evening, and the kitchen had all the supplies we needed to cook a few meals. Our dog loved running up the trail and looking in the creek. It was definitely a fun/cozy winter spot, but I'd like to come back sometime in the summer so I can put my feet in the creek!
We had 6 adults and 1 dog. We're all pretty close, so one couple "sleeping in the kitchen" wasn't a big deal (and the nook was very cute). No one minded climbing the ladder/stairs to the upstairs room either, but just keep that in mind.
This place was just what we were looking for.
Also - the host was very generous with the check in/out times, which I very much appreciated.
Secluded cabin in a beautiful setting
We enjoyed our stay in this quaint cabin on lovely property. It is very remote so be aware that it takes a while to get places but if relaxation is what you’re after you will be happy here! Be aware also that the TV has to be connected to your laptop or device as there is no cable. Ask them to walk you thru it- I did not and we had no TV for our stay. There is WiFi however and it worked pretty well.
Quiet comfort on a secluded Vermont farm
A wonderful stay in a wonderful spot: roomy, comfortable, and amazingly quiet.
Great place for a family trip
Had such a fun time over July 4th!
Exactly what was advertised. Loved it!
Even though the 100 degree weather made the 2nd floor unusable, still wonderful place!
Quaint Old Bennington features the Bennington Monument, Covered bridges, the Molly Stark scenic byway, Bennington Potters and Lake Paran. In Charming Manchester you'll fing premium outlets, Hildene (museum) Orivs flagship store and the Battenkill River. The cabin is nestled between these two towns as are plenty of restaurants, antique stores, gift shops, Mt Equinox skyline drive. All surrounded by the Green Mountains. The charm of Southern VT everywhere!
