Tough time for a vacation but great stay
Hard to relax during the COVID19 pandemic, but being in this house was wonderful. The home is beautiful. You could spend hours upon hours looking at the decor and thinking about the origins. Well-stocked kitchen—if you like to cook, the gas stove is an amazing experience. The view from the tub was fantastic. This home was the perfect place, especially for a scenario when social contact was limited. The property is very whimsical with hidden features along the trails...just be mindful of ticks as they are abundant. Overall, it was a great place to spend a few days away from everything.
It was very comfortable, clean and cozy.
Place was awesome. We loved staying there
We had a great time. Awesome town. Went to a little brewery in town per Lars recommendation. Would absolutely return
Our family of five had a great "away from it all" weekend. My kids, who normally live in the city, were delighted to be able to romp in the woods and build a snow fort. And we also loved just curling up by the fire with games and books. Lars was extremely prompt in his response to questions. We hope to come back!
Loved the barn home experience. The owner was available for questions. Rustic, private and quiet. The perfect trifecta!
Shaftsbury is nestled in the southwest corner of Vermont bordering Bennington and New York State. It is approximately a one hour drive from Albany NY and Pittsfield MA; four hours from Boston and NYC and 45 minutes to many ski resorts. Bennington Vermont is located just south of Shaftsbury and Manchester Vermont is 20 minutes north. Enjoy leisurely drives over dirt roads, peaceful hikes throughout our beautiful mountainsides, quiet lakes, bicycling, fall foliage, cross country skiing, snowmobiling and take a moment to discover its rich history.
Other Activities: hiking
Lars (pictured here with his childhood sweetheart and wife Kristen) teaches high school biology, chemistry, and environmental science just outside of Philadelphia. He is a VERY avid skier who also enjoys camping, hiking, mountaineering, kite-surfing, watching the Minnesota Vikings, and spending time with his wife and children. Kristen teaches electronic engineering at the college level and is an avid wind surfer, hiker, and skier.
Lars purchased this Barn in 2003
Why Lars chose South Shaftsbury
This is the perfect property to relax and unwind in total privacy. Vermont in general is a very relaxed, friendly place. Southwestern Vermont is IMO the most beautiful part of Vermont. If you are looking for stress reduction, a romantic get-away, and tons of outdoor activities, you found the perfect place.
What makes this Barn unique
If you are looking for authentic Vermont country living and something a little out of the ordinary, look no further.
