Artist's home with a beautiful mountain view and convenient location.

This home is clean, spacious, and private. It has a contemporary feel while being completely comfortable and artistic. The owner is an artist and her work and creative touches are all over the home. It has 2 stories, 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, wrap around deck that is partially covered, overlooking the mountain range called Black Rock. Downstairs is a spacious den where you can stream your favorite show on Netflix, play cards, work on a puzzle, dabble on the piano, or right outside is a covered patio with a 5 human hot tub. There is a laundry room available as well. It is the last house on the road and very private and is surrounded by 6.5 acres.
The house is 4 miles from downtown Sylva (galleries, restaurants, a brew pub), off highway 23/74 but tucked away; 9 miles from WCU campus, a 3 minute drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance, 12 miles to Waynesville, 21 miles to Harrah's Casino and the Cherokee Indian reservation, and a 50 minute drive from Asheville. It is 40 miles from the Nantahala Gorge and river, and 27 miles to Maggie Valley. There is rafting, hiking, horseback riding, lakes, rivers, shopping, music all around. Other interesting areas nearby include: waterfalls from Franklin to Highlands, Deep Creek hiking trails/ fishing and the Smoky Mountain Railroad in Bryson City.
The home has strong WiFi for streaming and 2 smart TV's to use your apps on. A brand new HVAC unit has been installed. The homeowner will work with you on extended stay rates. Please inquire!! FYI this home no longer accepts pets.

Adorable place

Great location! Contact with owner was very easy. We had to leave early due to an emergency, but we enjoyed our shortened trip.

Perfect Views

The cabin was comfortable and clean. Plenty of space for our family. The yard was beautiful and the hot tub made the stay even better. We loved the privacy. Short driving distance from all the attractions we wanted to see, perfect location.

Incredible stay in a beautiful property

Really enjoyed out time at this rental. The views were great, and the coolest part about it was the house itself. Lots of beautiful artwork all throughout the house that makes it a really unique stay. Lots of room to relax both inside and outside on the porch. Hot tub was incredible! Would definitely recommend.

Amazing cabin in the mountains!

This was a wonderful place to stay for our Christmas break! It had everything we needed and more! The morning views was one of our favorites. Our fur babies loved it too! Thank you Lara for sharing your place with us! We are definitely coming back :)

Amazing Views Perfect Location

This was the perfect location! The view was spectacular and we took full advantage of the hot tub! My kids really enjoyed the views as they had never been to the mountains before! Our two Basset Hounds enjoyed our stay as well! The location was perfect! We were able to enjoy Gatlinburg, the SMNP, Cherokee, and Asheville, all while staying in this quiet home. Downtown was also a treasure! And the beads were incredibly comfortable!

Perfect Vacation Spot

We enjoyed this spot so much! It is a great house with great views. It is located close to several towns that provides something different to do each day. We visited Sylva, Cherokee, Maggie Valley, and Bryson City. The house is just as described. My daughters loved the hot tub and swings downstairs. I highly recommend this house to anyone wanting the perfect mountain getaway!

Artwork and cleanliness added special feeling of love and attention to the beauty of the house.

Our family were able to come back after working all day organizing and cleaning out our house on E. Cope Creek, preparing it for sale, to Gentle Ridge where the view was wonderful and we could just relax and enjoy its artistic touches.

Delightful

We had a wonderful time at this unique home. Very comfortable, all the luxury of home, well stock with everything you need. Views were amazing. Grandchildren loved the hot tub and so did we. Great location and house

We had a wonderful time staying at Gentle Ridge. The house was full of unique items that decorated it. We enjoying putting together the puzzles, lazily enjoying the hottub, enjoying the beautiful view, and having a fire on the chilly night. The house is very well located. Easy quick drive to Sylva, where we checked out the small town and a couple breweries. We also were able to easily head to the Blue Ridge Parkway and check out the amazing views while having a picnic and the top. We truly enjoying our stay and hope to return one day.

Glorious location and friendly management experience

I can’t say enough about Lara! In a world where corporations having taken over the vacation experience, it was so nice to have actual contact and excellent customer experience with the owner. Lara was so helpful and welcoming. So many little touches went into making our stay personal and comfortable. The location of this home was perfect! The view off of the deck was breathtaking. Morning coffee, yoga, lunch, reading a book, drinking a glass of wine and fun and conversations all occurred on that deck with those views!!! The home was located close to everything. Hiking, small town markets, adventure activities.. it was perfect! Would absolutely stay here again.

Fantastic View

Lara was extremely friendly and easy to communicate with. She checked to make sure we found somewhere for Thanksgiving dinner since I had been previously concerned and weren’t sure if eating out or shopping. The view from the hot tub was amazing. The downstairs is a nice little bonus if you have teenage kids to have their spot. The location was very centrally located for us to visit different cities. The view from the hot tub, deck and off the couch were amazing. I would suggest swapping rooms to the king bed in master and queen where king is, but facing the view instead of away.

Wonderful

We would love to come back for a longer trip and enjoy this place. Just far enough off main road to enjoy peace and quiet and scenery, but convenient to everything you may want to go. Or stay in. We didn’t lack a thing. Current photos don’t reflect a recent fix to open kitchen to the view…lovely out of every window. Owner great to deal with.

The best yet!

My sister and I and our husbands have spent our summer vacations in this area for the last three years. This house is by far our favorite. OMG. THE VIEW! The porch is where we spent most of our time, even saying “nah’ to day trips because we couldn’t leave the porch. Lara was very responsive to our few questions and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would stay there again, but we’re all moving to North Carolina!

WCU Graduation

We stayed for several days for my daughter's WCU graduation. The home was exactly as advertised. It was so clean and comfortable. Everything we needed was there including a large crock pot which really was needed. We had a couple of other family members over (with Lara's prior approval) after graduation to celebrate the occasion. Everyone loved the home and it is laid out perfectly so that we could all be together. We loved the front deck area so much. The owner was very easy to communicate with and was very attentive to any questions we had. I would highly recommend this home to anyone!

Amazing View, Fun Home

Cozy home away from home

This property is so awesome, the view of the mountains really did it for us! There’s definitely enough room for a family to stay there! Everything was clean and as pictured. You can relax in the hot tub and let the kids hand out on the swings! It’s overall just a great place to stay. The property owner, Lara, really made our stay great also. We’ve never had a property owner reach out to us to let us know if we needed anything, they’re there. She made it so personable and I just loved that! She was there to answer all of our questions and was super helpful, plus she really does have great taste in decor! 🙂 10/10 recommend!

Owner that Cares!!

When we first arrived, the hot tub was not working. The owner was quick to get someone out to fix the problem (it was a breaker). The house was clean and tidy. Furniture comfortable. Many maps, menus, and other local items were provided. The only reason i marked location 4 starts instead of 5 was the steep dirt road going to the place. My husband had to put the truck in 4wd 2 times due to slipping on the slick road after a rain storm. But location otherwise was great access to many hiking trails and small towns!!

Loved the Artist’s home!

Hello. A little bit about me... I am an Artist through and through and this is how I see the world. I have been displaced from my art for a time and intend for this rental to help steer me back. I currently am a counselor for the Cherokee Indian Hospital. I am originally from Florida, and have lived here in Sylva 20+ years. I have adopted these beautiful mountains as my own and am willing to share any information to help your stay be a memorable one.

I bought this house because it spoke to my artistic side. It was a fixer upper. I put on a new deck and a new roof. I have stuccoed and painted many of the walls and ceilings. I have also refinished the kitchen cabinets. Of course, I can't help but put an artistic touch on everything that I do. A lot of the artwork and sculpture is my own work. I have put a lot of love into the rebirth of this house and hope you get a chance to see it.

This home has all of the amenities without needing to be state of the art. It is very comfortable and clean and has a lot of personality. It is in a convenient and easy location and feels very private. It also has a hot tub that overlooks a fantastic view. Read a book, watch the news, take a nap on the downstairs chaise, soak in the tub, or plan your day's adventure.
