About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 3 Baths, Sleeps 9 in beds.

Enjoy the majestic view of the Great Smoky Mountains from the spacious open decks. It's just a two hour round-trip hike to the Blue Ridge Parkway from your back door!

Forget your worries and relax in the 5 person hot tub while taking in the view.

The layout of the Maggie Valley vacation home brings the breathtaking scenery inside. All the common areas have lots of space with huge windows.

The master bedroom is on the main floor and has a king sized bed and walk-in closet. The bathroom has a claw foot bathtub with a pedestal sink and a large walk-in porcelain tile and stone shower.

The upstairs bedroom has large casement windows, ten foot ceilings and a queen bed. Upstairs there is also a sleeping loft and large bathroom.

The full, walk-out basement has a playroom with a 31-inch TV and ping pong table. There is also another bedroom and full bath, and a large laundry room equipped with a tile floor, a folding table, ironing board and superb lighting.

The house is equipped with a built-in vacuum system with hoses and accessories on the main and basement levels, and a laundry chute that is accessible from the upstairs and main floor bathrooms makes clothes washing a breeze.

The home is decorated in warm colors with leather sofa and love seat, and hand crafted furnishings.

A wood burning fireplace will keep you warm and cozy on those cold winter nights. In the summer, the temperature stays in the seventies in the day and dips into the 50's at night.

The home has central heat and air conditioning, and each bathroom has an additional supplemental, built-in space heater.

The elevation of “Autumn Falls” is 4,300 ft. The house is within a quarter mile of the paved, state maintained road, and the adjoining private roads are in very good condition, making 'Autumn Falls' accessible year 'round, although a 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended during the winter months.

Autumn Falls features 3 bedrooms and 3 baths (1 King and 2 Queens) and a sleeping loft with a twin-sized day bed.

The living room has a sleeper sofa, and there is even a game room in the basement with ping pong, a second TV/DVD/VCR and a Playstation 2 with 3 games for tenants to use!

WE have a 3 night minimum.

About Shelda Muirhead

I have been in the vacation rental business for 20 years and LOVE what I do.

Some of the homes in Maggie Valley on VRBO are owned by me and my husband, and I manage others. I am so fortunate to live in these beautiful Smoky Mountains and I enjoy helping vacationers by sharing my knowledge of the area.

Shelda Muirhead purchased this house in 2000

Why Shelda Muirhead chose Maggie Valley

I chose Maggie Valley and this home because of the awesome view! It's not hard to get to either! It is so peaceful. All you can hear from the deck is the creek below and the other sounds of nature.

What makes this house unique

It has a game room with pool. There's a hot tub on the view side of the home so you can relax while taking in the view. It also has an acre of

land behind the home with a picnic area, huge fire pit, horse shoe pit, sand box, swing, and large picnic table.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Shelda,

It was the best cabin/location we have stayed at since we started having

these vacations almost 20 years ago!

Thank you,

Wonderful Home!

  • 5 of 5

Shelda and Katie thank you for a wonderful family vacation! The house was perfect and gave 3 generations plenty of space and then plenty of room to come together for family meals. I love it because it was ease of access for me and my husband to stay on the main floor. The central vacuum and laundry shoots are wonderful! We all enjoyed the chipmunks, hummingbirds, sunrises and sunsets. The elk? That's a different story! They were awesome and became backyard farm animals to us - even the doe with t new calfs. #s 99 and 162 were around the most. We spent 10 days in Cherokee and Waynesville or just relaxing on the deck. It was heaven and all the family agreed that they would love this house next year! Don't miss going to New Belgium brewery in Asheville! And of course the shops in Maggie can't be missed! The Gray Mare has the best fruit, veggies, pickled eggs, okra, garlic, and country ham! And don't forget to try the boiled peanuts!

Shelda and Katie were great to deal with and all of the others neighbors and workers so friendly as well.

Easy drive to the house and plenty of parking.

We loved the hom, the accommodations and the well stocked supplies!

Thank you for sharing your wonderful home! We can't wait for next year!

The Cabin

  • 3 of 5

First let me say the Mountains was just breath taking. The home was just beautiful! It was so comfortable, for all the guest that was with me. I love the rooms, the view. But on the downside I was not to happy about the trash taking it somewhere, I do understand that it needed to be done the distance was quite far, am glad it was not raining the driveway was not all that great. Then at the end of the stay we had to check out @ 10am put towels in the washer. Didn't have a problem with that if check out was a little later, so everyone had time to shower and eat breakfast and enjoy that view one more time with coffee but instead early rise shower put towels in wash. I am a renter too so am sure you have your reason for things. Thank you on behave of us all so much for allowing us to stay in your home I hope we took good care of your beautiful home, we felt like we did. Thank you again.

Lesson learned

  • 1 of 5

Word to the wise:.immediately upon arriving, renters should walk through the house with their phone or video camera, documenting the condition of everything in the house. Then, last thing before your departure, do the same thing. I've been renting for years through VRBO and for the first time ever, part of my security deposit was withheld and I was blamed for damage I did not do. I will not do business with these owners again.

Maggie Valley at its best

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to the Blue Ridge side of the Appalachian mtn range and Maggie Valley with the previous two times in the Smokys and Pigeon Forge area. Glad we came! We came for the view, new places to seek out and the possibility to see some wild life near the cabin as described by the owner. We were not disappointed.

As others have said the view from the cabin was amazing and one of the qualities I look for when choosing a place to stay. From here we made day trips to Asheville, Waynesville, and Cherokee to explore each area where we found new places to explore, foods to experience and a sovereign nation. Within a short drive, like just up the road, we were able to drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, enjoy the many the overlook areas and see the Soko Falls mentioned in the description.

As for the wildlife we didn't have to wait long. The morning after we arrived the kids left for a trip to Asheville but had to stop for several Elk who were making their way down the driveway Then a few days later a pair of female Elk and their two calves came right under the deck and made there way over to the fire pit spending a long time eating along the way. And the last day while leaving a whole herd came by, almost like saying good-bye.

This was a great choice for us and will return if ever in the area again. The cabin very comfy and plenty of room for our 3 families which included 6 adults, 2 teenagers and a small dog. We were able to enjoy the fire-pit just outside the cabin, pool table and play plenty of board games we brought with us on the large dinning table. They had other games including a ping pong table available but we didn't use them including or the grill outside. The homeowners were easy to work with and helpful in getting the hot tub up and working upon our arrival. The only problem we had was keeping a continuous wifi connection with our phones. There were times when you would have to go into the master bedroom where the router was to get a good connection. But, we were here for the beauty of the mountains! Thank you, Shelda, for a wonderful vacation!

Words really can't describe it

  • 5 of 5

I decided this year that I wanted to spend my 40th birthday in the mountains with some of my friends. At first everyone thought that I was crazy because I live in Florida and hate the cold weather but I knew exactly what I wanted and am so happy that I chose this cabin. It was a BEAUTIFUL place with an amazing view and the owners were great. My friends and I had such a wonderful time that we've decided to make it a yearly tradition. I highly recommend staying here to any and everyone considering a cabin in the mountains :)
