About Shelda Muirhead
I have been in the vacation rental business for 20 years and LOVE what I do. Some of the homes in Maggie Valley on VRBO are owned by me and my husband, and I manage others. I am so fortunate to live in these beautiful Smoky Mountains and I enjoy helping vacationers by sharing my knowledge of the area.
Why Shelda Muirhead chose Maggie Valley
I chose Maggie Valley and this home because of the awesome view! It's not hard to get to either! It is so peaceful. All you can hear from the deck is the creek below and the other sounds of nature.
What makes this Cabin unique
It has a game room with pool. There's a hot tub on the view side of the home so you can relax while taking in the view. It also has an acre of land behind the home with a picnic area, huge fire pit, horse shoe pit, sand box, swing, and large picnic table.

Amazing experience in nature
We had a great time with our family of 9 at this beautiful cabin. The house is so cozy and comfortable; right in the forest with lots to explore; a short walk from a little river; skiing, horseback tiding and lots of other things to explore close by. We will be back!
Great cabin, even better view.
We had a good time overall in a beautiful cabin in a great setting. The three levels of bedroom/bath combinations is a good feature, and we had adequate cooking utensils. The hot tub was clean and in a private location, but was not ready for the first night. We have rented many cabins in western N.C. and this view was right up at the top. We would give it five stars if a few things were addressed. First, the cabin needs a thorough cleaning, we had small children with us and invariably they would drop toys under couches, etc and would have dust and dirt all over them after retrieving the toys. My wife found a Swiffer and was going to do a little cleaning but could find no pads for them. The fireplace grate was woefully inadequate and there were no fireplace tools to speak of, making a fire a tough job. A little air balancing on the HVAC would be good, the downstairs bedroom was cold when the master bedroom was comfortable, and master too warm when downstairs about right. Early checkout (10:00am) was tough with the requirement to wash and dry a load of towels before leaving. Lastly the charcoal grill needs to be repaired/replaced, the grate for charcoal was nearly useless, though we adapted it with a few rocks and made do. As stated, this cabin would be a top rated 5 star if not for these issues, though none of them will ruin your time at Autumn Falls.
Awesome cabin in a natural setting
The cabin is very roomy with all the bells and whistles. The three floors and size allows everyone to be together when needed and apart when desired. Very modern and updated for a cabin. Loved the wood fireplace and outdoor sitting areas. Definitely need 4 wheel drive and parking can be a challenge if more than 2 cars but very workable. Loved the experience and will be back.
Thank you, Todd. We hope you'll come back soon!
Really nice cabin and view
Overall, we had a nice time at this cabin. The area around it was private, but not removed from society. Our kids played outside on their own and had fun. The cabin could use better internet connectivity (it was just about non-existent) and a more modern TV in the living room. Kids want their electronics and dad wants his TV! The cabin was clean and had plenty of space for a large family. Parking for more than one vehicle is very tough. We loved the deck, the view, and the game room. We wish Maggie Valley had more of a "Main Street", but that is not the cabins fault. The management company was amazing and was always responsive. Thank you.
Thank you for your honest review!
We hope you will come back and visit!
For future guests sake, please do be aware that since this home is on a mountain the internet service is DSL (not high-speed) and therefore can be slow or non-existent at times. We do not want to hide any information like this from potential guests as we want happy traveler's who will come back! We do our best to respond to all guests needs/problems that arise and appreciate Andy's comment regarding our responsiveness. Happy travels! Thank you!
Overall great cabin, EXCELLENT location, close to attractions.
It was just as it was described, within minutes of a lot of attractions but still gave you a better experience being up the mountain with gorgeous views and the perfect cabin to enjoy it in. Katie set me up with her friend Julie, who accommodated our entire trip, she supplied the cabin full of my grocery list and even things that she knew we would need that I forgot to add, she would check in on us to make sure we were ok and had everything we needed. If we got lost Julie would get us back on track, she was literally a real life Siri... I would recommend anyone coming to this cabin to ask Katie to get you in touch with Julie, she made our trip!!!!!! Her fees are worth every penny and you have know idea the stress and workload she will take off your shoulders. Any time we would get lost or couldn’t find something my guest would yell....”where’s Julie” I can’t say enough good things about how well she took care of us. although we did have to leave early because of a snow storm that about had us trapped on the mountain. It was over all a great trip and I wouldn’t let Mother Nature hinder it. The only other thing I will add.... is when it says 4 wheel drive recommend..... don’t go with a 2 wheel drive car. We almost took a 2 wheel drive Tahoe just for comfort and more luggage room but the day we left Florida something told me to take my pickup truck with 4 wheel drive. There would have been no way for us to make it up or back down in that snow without 4 wheel drive. Thank you for a great adventure and the best hospitality I could have ever imagined Julie!! Hopefully we will try it again in the summer time..
Thank you very much! We always appreciate detailed reviews as it really helps vacationers to make a decision on where to stay.
To clarify for future guests, Julie owns a Concierge business and offers services on behalf of Carolina Mountain Vacation Homes. Anyone interested in having groceries or other items delivered may request so and we will work with Julie to accommodate guests needs and requests.
