About Shelda Muirhead

I have been in the vacation rental business for 20 years and LOVE what I do.

Some of the homes in Maggie Valley on VRBO are owned by me and my husband, and I manage others. I am so fortunate to live in these beautiful Smoky Mountains and I enjoy helping vacationers by sharing my knowledge of the area.

Why Shelda Muirhead chose Maggie Valley

I chose Maggie Valley and this home because of the awesome view! It's not hard to get to either! It is so peaceful. All you can hear from the deck is the creek below and the other sounds of nature.

What makes this cabin unique

It has a game room with pool. There's a hot tub on the view side of the home so you can relax while taking in the view. It also has an acre of

land behind the home with a picnic area, huge fire pit, horse shoe pit, sand box, swing, and large picnic table.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our family can't recommend these folks enough. We stayed at beautiful Autumn Falls for spring break 2017. Shelda and Katie went out of their way to be accommodating. They were extremely flexible and great to work with!

The cabin was amazing. Our two girls had the best time sleeping in their "big girl" beds up in the loft. The views from the hot tub that are amazing! We truly felt like this was our home away from home and can't wait to come back!

Really nice cabin and view

  • 4 of 5

Overall, we had a nice time at this cabin. The area around it was private, but not removed from society. Our kids played outside on their own and had fun. The cabin could use better internet connectivity (it was just about non-existent) and a more modern TV in the living room. Kids want their electronics and dad wants his TV! The cabin was clean and had plenty of space for a large family. Parking for more than one vehicle is very tough. We loved the deck, the view, and the game room. We wish Maggie Valley had more of a "Main Street", but that is not the cabins fault. The management company was amazing and was always responsive. Thank you.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your honest review! We hope you will come back and visit! For future guests sake, please do be aware that since this home is on a mountain the internet service is DSL (not high-speed) and therefore can be slow or non-existent at times. We do not want to hide any information like this from potential guests as we want happy traveler's who will come back! We do our best to respond to all guests needs/problems that arise and appreciate Andy's comment regarding our responsiveness. Happy travels! Thank you!

Overall great cabin, EXCELLENT location, close to attractions.

  • 5 of 5

It was just as it was described, within minutes of a lot of attractions but still gave you a better experience being up the mountain with gorgeous views and the perfect cabin to enjoy it in. Katie set me up with her friend Julie, who accommodated our entire trip, she supplied the cabin full of my grocery list and even things that she knew we would need that I forgot to add, she would check in on us to make sure we were ok and had everything we needed. If we got lost Julie would get us back on track, she was literally a real life Siri... I would recommend anyone coming to this cabin to ask Katie to get you in touch with Julie, she made our trip!!!!!! Her fees are worth every penny and you have know idea the stress and workload she will take off your shoulders. Any time we would get lost or couldn’t find something my guest would yell....”where’s Julie” I can’t say enough good things about how well she took care of us. although we did have to leave early because of a snow storm that about had us trapped on the mountain. It was over all a great trip and I wouldn’t let Mother Nature hinder it. The only other thing I will add.... is when it says 4 wheel drive recommend..... don’t go with a 2 wheel drive car. We almost took a 2 wheel drive Tahoe just for comfort and more luggage room but the day we left Florida something told me to take my pickup truck with 4 wheel drive. There would have been no way for us to make it up or back down in that snow without 4 wheel drive. Thank you for a great adventure and the best hospitality I could have ever imagined Julie!! Hopefully we will try it again in the summer time..

There was plenty of space for our family to enjoy the week.

  • 4 of 5

The space was perfect for our family. The views were nice. Our only frustration was the comfort of the beds, the mattress pads may need a little freshening up. Otherwise, it was very accommodating to our needs as a family.

Wonderful house with a beautiful view!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely had a blast! The house was perfect for our family trip! We had 3 family units with us on this trip and the house offered so much space. We each took a floor and there was plenty of room to spread out. Just wonderful. And.....the view....gorgeous!

Outstanding property

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely loved this property. Beautiful views and magical fire flies at night. Saw several elk right on the property. Hummingbird, squirrel, so many birds with nests, and chipmunks all from the deck. Loved waynesville and our last dinner was amazing at the Sweet Onion. So sad to be leaving. This property had everything one would need while being away from home.

Wonderful Home!

  • 5 of 5

Shelda and Katie thank you for a wonderful family vacation! The house was perfect and gave 3 generations plenty of space and then plenty of room to come together for family meals. I love it because it was ease of access for me and my husband to stay on the main floor. The central vacuum and laundry shoots are wonderful! We all enjoyed the chipmunks, hummingbirds, sunrises and sunsets. The elk? That's a different story! They were awesome and became backyard farm animals to us - even the doe with t new calfs. #s 99 and 162 were around the most. We spent 10 days in Cherokee and Waynesville or just relaxing on the deck. It was heaven and all the family agreed that they would love this house next year! Don't miss going to New Belgium brewery in Asheville! And of course the shops in Maggie can't be missed! The Gray Mare has the best fruit, veggies, pickled eggs, okra, garlic, and country ham! And don't forget to try the boiled peanuts!

Shelda and Katie were great to deal with and all of the others neighbors and workers so friendly as well.

Easy drive to the house and plenty of parking.

We loved the hom, the accommodations and the well stocked supplies!

Thank you for sharing your wonderful home! We can't wait for next year!
