Our 4 BR, 3 BA home is a perfect getaway for families or couples wanting a nicely appointed, comfortable vacation rental at any time of the year. Situated on a large lot on the beautiful Crystal River, the house has over 3,100 square feet of living space on two levels:
1) An open-concept main floor with kitchen, dining room, living room, large deck, 2 bedrooms, 2 ensuite full bathrooms, and laundry room; and
2) A walk-out lower level with 2 more bedrooms, 1 full bathroom, a large family room with patio and back yard access, and a bar sink, refrigerator, and microwave.
The house features hardwood floors and quartz kitchen counters on the main level, carpeting in all bedrooms and family room, and an eclectic western style with comfortable furnishings.

Downtown Carbondale—only a 15-minute walk from the house—is a charming, historic town and a wonderful alternative to Aspen or Glenwood Springs. Named one of the best towns in Colorado by Outside Magazine and 5280, Carbondale offers restaurants fit for foodies as well as access to art, music, shopping, and terrific recreational options.

You will find world- class downhill skiing and snowboarding in Aspen and Snowmass, easily accessed in 30-45 minutes by car or local bus. Ski Sunlight mountain near Glenwood Springs is a smaller but popular alternative with locals as are the two hot springs pools in Glenwood. Cross country skate and nordic skiers enjoy groomed trails at nearby community-run Spring Gulch, others in Snowmass and Aspen, and many ungroomed back country trails. The area offers unparalleled cycling (paved trails running from Aspen to Glenwood Springs) and mountain biking.

Fishing is popular in the gold medal waters of the Crystal and Roaring Fork Rivers as well as other rivers nearby, and rafting/kayaking trips are also offered through local outfitters. Golfing at lovely River Valley Ranch is less than a mile away. The surrounding national forests provide exceptional hiking for all levels of hikers and are particularly beautiful during the summer and fall seasons.

Another historic town, Redstone, is only 15 minutes south of town up scenic Highway 133.

Great place

This is the second or third time we’ve stayed here visiting nearby family and it’s great. Used the garage for the first time to avoid scraping the car after overnight snow. Just another nice benefit,

Small Family Reunion

Great house. Perfect location. Easy check in and out. The sound from the river and the privacy on the deck was just perfect. I speak for everyone that stayed there with me, it was lovely and will hopefully do it again in ‘25.

So private but in a neighborhood

This home is wonderful for two families. The kitchen is well stocked. The evaporative cooler kept the house cool in the afternoon and evenings. It was great to hear the River running. The home is in a quiet neighborhood and convenient to town. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I would stay here again!

Lovely location in a nice neighborhood. This house, while not new, is beautifully maintained and equipped. It is the best furnished house I have ever rented. It is perfect for a large family gathering. The owners were so nice and comfortable to deal with. It is adjacent to the Crystal River and the sound of running water was such a delight. I forgot and left the garage door open one night and A hungry bear paid a visit. Fortunately, the only damage was a tipped over trashcan and a bit of a mess in the driveway. This was entirely my fault and was avoidable. You, I hope to return to carbondale in the future and would very happily rent this house again!

Fabulous home

We have stayed here several times just because it is so perfect! The house is perfect for a family, lots of private space and yet a very lovely deck for outdoor feasting together. We couldn’t ask for a more perfect fit for us. The kitchen is always well stocked with the basics so no need to run out and get all your spices,oils etc. as soon as you check in. The beds are very comfortable, house is well furnished, we love it all!

Great house

The house is perfect. It has enough room so 8 guests feel very comfortable. The deck is beautiful and the kitchen is perfect. We cooked and baked quite a bit and it was super comfortable. Very near town so running out for anything you need is easy. Also close to trails and beautiful country. Perfect house and location.

A perfect fit for us!

Outdoor sitting areas are important to us and this house was perfect! We had 3 couples all cyclists. The bike rides in this area are just breathtaking, especially with the fall foliage! The house is not new, but very comfortable. And it was the best equipped vrbo I have every stayed in (and I have a lot of experience in this type of travel). Loved our stay and hope to come back.

Wonderful stay

This property was perfect for our family vacation. The floor plan was perfect for our party of 8. The back deck and patio area are private and peaceful. House well accommodated- had everything we needed. Plenty of towels, toilet paper, laundry soap, etc. Will definitely return!

Lovely home

The property is in a great location, was convenient to all the activities and people we came to visit. The property was not quite ready for us when we arrived as housekeeping was delayed but the owners quickly remedied that problem and we enjoyed our stay in Carbondale very much!

Comfy and spacious

Our family stayed here for our son’s wedding. Perfect location and plenty of room for four couples. Well stocked kitchen for cooking and comfortable beds. We’d stay here again!

Lovely location and comfortable

This house is welcoming and has a great layout. The entry has lots of hooks and cubbies for gear and coats. The kitchen is well appointed and connects to the upstairs living room, dining room and deck. The rooms are all good sized and the downstairs is private and huge. Hosts were very responsive and the location is great for walks and skiing. True vacation home without any desks to tempt one into working.

Great house Great owners

Thomas and Linda is what I call the "old school" way of home rental. It is not a property management company it is the owners of the home you are dealing with. This is now the second time I have rented with this family and it has been great. Not a stuffy HOA like River Valley Ranch that has so many rules and regs that you have to sign away your first born to rent a place from them. Linda was able to answer my question and troubleshoot an issue over the phone and that was wonderful. Sorry Linda that I had to call you and bother you at your party. My brothers and sister/ and spouses all stayed at the house. They told me that the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen worked well and we had all the spices and condie ments needed. On the main floor there are 2 bedrooms. Master suite lovely master bathroom/tub with a view. Huge closet. The other bedroom is large with a queen bed and has an attached bathroom/bath but this bathroom is also the main floor "powder room." Was not an issue for our family. The balcony deck overlooks the Crystal River. We stayed in the summer and the river could be heard but not seen because of the overgrowth. We enjoyed our time on the deck telling family stories. Downstairs there are two more bedrooms but not ensuite. One room with twin beds and the other one a Queen. The bathroom is close and have enough towels for everyone. Also downstairs is a great another living room and great gathering place. You can walk out to the yard with table and chairs and listen to the river sounds. So peaceful.

Great spot for a large family!

We met both our kids and young grandkids for a week’s vacation. The property was spacious with lots of good gathering places as well as good sleeping arrangements for all of the families. Surrounded by opportunities to entertain ourselves in parks, river, downtown, etc. Great hosts!

Wedding in Carbondale

We all came to Carbondale from England to attend a family wedding and meet up with American cousins from all over the US. The house put 5 of us up for 5 days - and it met all our expectations. It was well located, well equipped, clean and pleasant. There was no air conditioning which one might have thought would be unfortunate given the heat during July. However, there was a controlled ventilation system which did a good cooling job and to green-minded visitors such as us, was a much preferred option. We did have one problem with plumbing which could have been significant, but the owner dealt with it promptly and so rather than a disaster, it became a minor irritation. This was really a one-off event for us, but should we stay in Carbondale again, this house would be on our list...

River Sounds

Two grandparents, two parents and two little boys opened the door of this house and were blown away at the beautiful layout, the size and the cleanliness that greeted us. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking and there were plenty of paper towels and toilet paper rolls in case we ran out. We spent time playing games at the dining table and eating outside on the beautiful deck. Always in the background was the lovely sound of the river.

This home is special to us. My husband, Tom, built this house in 1991, and his sons grew up here. Now a second home, we enjoy time here ourselves with family and friends whenever we can get away.
We still work in the Denver-Boulder area, but as we scale back we are spending more time in Carbondale. In the meantime, we want to share the house and all of the wonderful activities the area offers with others.
