About Tim Hoy
We are parents of two grown girls and two loving pups! We have lived in Southern California for 16 years. Our previous home was in Eugene, OR. We have always yearned to have a quiet place in the woods to take us back to the feelings of "getting into nature" that we used to enjoy when living in the Pacific Northwest. This year we were able to realize this dream by purchasing our cute little cabin. We so enjoy spending time here in the quiet and want to share this experience with others.
Tim Hoy purchased this Cabin in 2016
Why Tim Hoy chose Idyllwild-Pine Cove
The proximity to the charming village of Idyllwild was our main reason for choosing this location. It's only about a mile from the village and has beautiful cedars as well as mountain views. We are also very close to many hiking trails. The sunny deck in front is a great place to relax as well as enjoy the sunset. While our little cabin is on a private unpaved road, access is easy as we are the first house on the road. Since the cabin is set lower than the main street, there is a feeling of privacy here.
What makes this Cabin unique
The craftsmanship of the interior is unique and whimsical. There is actually a little house within the house where the wall between the kitchen and dining room was crafted as a little house with roof, chimney and other details, with a pass-through that can be closed with little shutters.

Cozy, well-equipped, very comfy beds!
This is our second stay here & we enjoyed it just as much! The kitchen has everything you could need, even a fun Aebleskiver pan to make pancake balls. We've stayed in a lot of places and it's rare to have a comfortable bed. Here, all the beds have memory foam mattresses. Other things we really appreciate are thick towels, plenty of hooks for hanging stuff, a bundle of firewood, nice ( not thin & cheap) toilet paper & tissues, a VERY quiet street, great lighting, and labels everywhere to make it clear where stuff is and how to use it! We were delighted to have a lovely snowfall so we could walk in the nearby forest in total silence. Humber Park is closeby with great hiking trails. It's only a few minutes to drive to town. We'll be back!
We are so glad you enjoyed your second stay so much and we look forward to having you back again and again.

Cozy, cute, comfy cabin
Sweet, comfy, cute cabin that was wonderfully equipped with all one would need, and nice touches everwhere! Easily and happily recommend! Only suggestions: a) could use more or better lighting in the living room, and b) would be nice if driveway down to house was paved.
Cozy, comfy, delightful stay.
It was just what we wanted, just what we needed. Everything we needed was there for us. We cooked, ate, relaxed, sat on the deck and enjoyed the wonderful weather. The parking situation was a challenge. Don't try turning around down below, but backing up that incline was scary. The alternative of carrying things up and down from the higher parking spot wasn't practical. We still had a lovely time.
We are glad you had a lovely time sorry you had difficulty maneuvering the drive way. We work hard to make sure our guests don't put themselves in a situation like that this is why we take the time to give detailed instructions to back down the driveway because there isn't anywhere to turn around.
We look forward to hosting you again.

This was a welcomed and peaceful getaway! The cabin is so cozy and perfectly organized making it easy just to pack a bag, some food, and begin to relax!
Thank you for your hospitality! We really needed this home away from home!
Tidy, cozy, family friendly!
My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Lazy Gnome. My 4 and 7 year old daughters delighted in the loft and my husband and I were so pleased with the well-stocked kitchen (all the necessary pots, pans, etc.), the ample supply of flashlights and night lights, the fire starter and wood for the fireplace, and the access to control the thermostat as I'm often chilly. Much gratitude to Tom for putting so much thought into this sweet little cottage!
Quiet Cozy Cabin in the woods
We wanted a cozy rustic cabin in the woods with a fire place. This was that and so much more. The place is better than the pictures. I was nervous the heater wouldn’t keep us warm enough but we were toasty with the high outside being around 35 during our stay. We did get a little snow which was whimsical to watch from our cabin window. We used the fireplace, played games, went sledding, and made Aebleskebers (my first time ever and they turned out great). The kitchen was fully stocked which was perfect as we made a few meals during our stay (also loved the panini grill). Our daughters loved the loft!!! So cute!
