About Liz Fletcher
I came here from Ashland, Or. 30 years ago and never left. I've lived in Washington state, northern California, Saskatchewan, Canada, and the White Mountains of Arizona, Costa Rica, and Puerto Vallarta Mexico. A musician and massage therapist, I met my husband, a former Motown musician, playing together in a Blues band in Tucson. Now a mom and wife, I recently completed a graduate degree at the UA. I enjoy the home-sharing model which has brings countless wonderful people through our accommodations. My goal is to facilitate a wonderful stay in Tucson, in comfortable, immaculate quarters where you can enjoy your privacy in a home away from home.
Liz Fletcher purchased this Studio in 2010
Why Liz Fletcher chose Richland Heights East
We bought this 3300 sq ft home with extended family in 2010. It's a favorite part of town for me, located near the Rillito Wash, the UA, and a quick drive to almost anything. In 2015, I re-purposed unused space for a 2 bedroom guesthouse. That success prompted the conversion of the studio into a separate and complete living space. Hosting has been an unexpected adventure! Working with the nonprofit Watershed Management Group we implemented water harvesting features throughout the half acre yard a few years ago, transforming the space which hosts native flora and fauna as we continue to add native plants and trees. The property is featured in the annual WMG home tour. This neighborhood was once a ranch and incorporated in 1938, after which the city grew around it. The neighborhood has retained the generous half acre lots and low density with foresight. A wildlife corridor arroyo through the neighborhood brings javelina, bobcats, owls, coyotes, and more, enjoying the neighborhood along with many neighborhood dog walkers and cyclists.
What makes this Studio unique
Central yet peaceful and private. Walking distance to restaurants and grocery shopping. Excellent walking, jogging, and biking access from the house to the 100 mile non-motorized "Loop", or bike path, as we call it. The Tucson Racquet Club is minutes away featuring a full menu of indoor exercise classes as well as racquet sports and heated swimming pools; likewise the Tucson JCC. Minutes away, St. Phillp's Plaza features a Farmer's Market on Sat. and an artisan market on Sundays.

Perfect Location - Cozy and Comfortable Space
My wife and I randomly selected Tucson as a short vacation getaway. We didn't have any place in particular we wanted to visit nor did we have relatives or friends to see. So, we set out to find a place to stay while in Tucson. WE ARE SO HAPPY we chose this place.
First, after staying for three nights and literally going to every mountain range, every place we could in the days we had, this nice two-room studio was so perfectly centrally located that we were never too far from anything. We loved the location and how easy it was to get there. Also with the location was the fact that this place is in an actual neighborhood, but the way the place is situated and with the retaining wall in the back, you really feel like you are much more secluded. We really liked that.
As far as the amenities, we didn't need much space as we were just planning to sleep there. But we enjoyed the comfy bed, the sofa with a blanket was awesome just before bed to watch a show via the ROKU to relax after a long hike. In the mornings, we enjoyed the selection of coffee, creamer and we used several of the pots and pans to make breakfast. Everything was so handy.
Finally, we enjoyed our interaction with Liz, the owner. While we never officially met her, we interacted often as we had many questions. First, we asked about placed to see and restaurant recommendations. Liz was great with that. (We loved El Saguarito - one of her recommendations). Also, after a particularly long hike we asked about using the pool. We enjoyed the pool and the peace and relaxation that went with it.
All in all, we LOVED Tucson and the place we stayed and the people (including Liz) that we interacted with were a big reason we enjoyed our time so much.
Thank you so very much guys. I hope you can come back sometime, and if so, we'll get to meet face to face! I'm so happy you enjoyed Tucson. It is a special and unique town and you were some hard-working visitors taking it all in! Thank you for being fantastic and considerate guests!!!
Great travels to you always :)
Very nice quiet getaway.
My wife and I love visiting Tucson and we came across this property on VRBO and could not have been more happy with our stay. We were close to everything we wanted to do and will definitely be back. Thanks Liz for sharing your home.
Centrally located, clean and comfortable
I traveled as a travel nurse for 3 years. For any gypsies looking for Tucson housing, this is a great set up in a good neighborhood close to UMC and TMC.
My stay at Liz's place was so enjoyable. Liz was accessible if I needed anything, but the set up of the studio feels very private. My nieces and nephew came on different nights and Liz was very welcoming. We played in the pool, which in Tucson in July was awesome. I had my Aussie dog and it was truly pet friendly.
I am from Tucson so I know the area. It is an ideal location, the best farmer's market in Tucson is less than 2 miles away, there are tons of restaurants, it's close to UofA, and Sabino Canyon and Mt. Lemmon are accessible.
Thank you Jamie! It was a pleasure hosting you and having kids in the pool. All the best to you!
Just right for my needs, small space, quiet neighborhood and close to the things I needed. The space was clean, neat and nicely appointed with soft towels for the bathroom and for all the basic kitchen needs. The outside covered porch, which faces west, was perfect in the early morning and after sunset.
The host was friendly, fun to visit with and committed to making my stay enjoyable. I'll return.
The only change I would offer is having access to both sides of the bed (my partner was not with me on this trip and this could be an issue if there are two persons).
Thank you for your thoughtful comments George--and for being a wonderful guest!
Yes, you're right about the bed which can be moved out depending on guest preference.
We look forward to your next visit!
Very centrally located this older, established, low density, and conscientious neighborhood is comfortable and quiet. We are within 10-20 minutes to most of Tucson's unique attractions, including the 100 mile bike/walking path. The wide unlined streets feel removed from the city bustle but public transportation is a block away. A French cafe and bakery (breakfast & lunch) and a Mexican restaurant are walking distance. Numerous restaurants and grocery stores are within minutes by car including Trader Joes.
