About the property

Deluxe Home On 17 Acres, 2 BR 2bath, Fireplace, 1 Kitchens, Views From Every Rm.

Spend a night, a weekend or a week at one of the most unique properties in all of the Finger Lakes. Clifftop is a 17 acre paradise, with unforgettable Sunset, Seneca Lake, and village views. Perched atop a bluff and high above the lake, enjoy your very own private compound, only 1 mile from the center of Watkins Glen, at the gateway to the east Seneca Lake wine trail. Hike along thousands of feet of clifftop trails, then descend into a magnificent gorge with several waterfalls, flanked by hemlock, periwinkle, and stone formations. Take an hour or a day; relax within this private natural paradise. Hike back up to the many cliff top nature trails and take in the bee balm, shaded canopy, and daily visits by the bald eagles and osprey that inhabit our area. Or "stay put." Kick back on the deck or lawn directly in front of your room. Sun bathe, nap, or simply enjoy the sailboats, western bluffs, and village below. The Rookery, our upper level hemlock lodge, has 2 king bedrooms(one is a suite) each with deluxe bath, including 6' soaker tub and shower. The full kitchen and entry room provide plenty of elbow room, and 3 patio doors lead to the 50' x 9' deck, located 200' above the lake, below. The large kitchen has quartz counters, all new appliances, lovely maple wood floors. Large glass fireplace. A short distance from your back door is a beautiful view area with your own under the stars fire pit.

A new standard of excellence for vacation house rentals

  • 5 of 5

We have vacationed at 7 house rentals over the last 3 years. 5 of them I have given 4 stars, and 1 of them 5 stars. This one receives only 5 stars officially because that is high as allowed, but I really give it 7, on a scale of 5!

The house is immaculate, the owners are friendly, helpful, and available when needed, but out of the way unless you want them. The view in the picture really is from their balcony. The appliances are all high quality. Enough meal utensils for at least 8 people, so if using dishwasher do not have to run it after each meal. I think our group of 4 ran it 3 times the week we were there. There are 2 master bedroom suites. All of that gives it 5 stars. But what puts it in a class by itself ...

The lakeviews are from both bedrooms and living room via sliding glass doors, and from the dining room by looking through the living room. So, spectacular views from about anywhere in the house. All lakeviews face west, so sun and clouds permitting, will have gorgeous sunset(s).

100 feet up a small incline from the house is a level area with a picnic table, lounge chairs, and a firepit, with wood provided!

On the 17 acres of property is over 1.5 miles of mowed paths - what a delight to this runner to have a private cross country course! It is a runner's heaven! I ran a .7 mile outer course, and a .5 and .35 inner courses, and mixed up a couple other variations to get some maximum hill work as some hills have 15%+ grades!

But maybe you are not a runner or want steep hills. There is a very moderate way to get to the hiking path to the gorge to see 2 sets of waterfalls; only total 1/3 mile hike from house. And if you are ok with a 25%+ grade, you will get 2 more sets of falls that are more majestic.

On the paths are many wildflowers, several black raspberry bushes, and rabbits for viewing pleasure.

All 4 waterfalls are your own private viewing! Amazing! 3 in our group saw 2 of them, I was the only one who went down the steep decline to the third, and then across the creek to more path down to the fourth falls. We had a couple friends join us one afternoon, and they also took that hike with me to these two falls; they had high quality walking sticks, which made it very doable for any hiking lover.

The property was far beyond anything I could have imagined. On top of an already 5 star rental, when the property is added, it goes off the charts. What a find this was; I could have have stayed a month. Looking forward to returning

Lovely home for a couples vacation over Memorial Day weekend

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I along with another couple enjoyed our stay at this home for Memorial Day weekend. The house is perfect for 2 couples and has 2 spacious master suites. The kitchen was well stocked and we were welcomed with a chilled bottle of wine from the owners, Cindy and Ed.

The views of Seneca Lake from the home were spectacular. We also enjoyed the outdoor space including the deck, fire pit and hiking trails. If you enjoy hiking it's a nice treat to see a beautiful waterfall during your hike.

The home is very close to many wineries, breweries, and restaurants and is a short drive to Watkins Glen.

Overall we had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend this home! Cindy and Ed made our stay enjoyable and we hope to go back soon!

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We came for a girls weekend to celebrate a friend turning 50. We stayed a long weekend. The home was gorgeous. Looked like it came out of the pages of a catalog. The baths were upgraded. The kitchen was fantastic, I wish I had had more time to cook in it. The home is well supplied with anything you could think you may possibly need. I could have stayed longer and/or moved in permanently. The VIEWS are amazing. We loved the deck. The location is fantastic, minutes from many great wineries and restaurants. Cindy was great and had spot on suggestions of things to do and see. Would highly recommend.

Perfect stay! -- Beautiful home, we wanted to move in!

  • 5 of 5

Cindy was excellent to work with. She helped coordinate our stay through phone calls and email. Upon arrival we were shown around the property by Cindy and Ed and could not believe how beautiful the home was! It was more than described, expertly kept, everything you could ask for in a rental property and more! The location is perfect for access to the wineries, town of Watkins Glen, and the Gorge trail. We brought friends up for the weekend who had never experienced Seneca Lake, and this property helped make the experience truly memorable. Our stay was over Memorial Day weekend, so it was perfect to sit outside on the deck and enjoy the gorgeous view of the lake! If we could have stayed for a week we would have loved to! Kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms were modern and in perfect condition. I look forward to the opportunity to stay here again!!!

The perfect place

  • 5 of 5

The perfect place for a secluded weekend! We were happy to find Ed and Cindy's new place and it was more than we expected. The upstairs is perfect for two couples, or the lower level is great for 1 couple. Both have gorgeous lake views and patios/deck for relaxing. We cant wait to come back and hike the trails on the property again and see everything in bloom. our new favorite place in the finger lakes!!!

Highly recommended property!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time staying at a rental property like this. We were in the Finger Lakes region when we called Cindy and Ed. Cindy explained we would be their first guests and we were welcomed with open arms! I think we all were very excited! The property is beautiful, living room with fire place was a relaxing place to watch some TV, comfy bed waking up to a beautiful view of the lake, sunset was perfect, and was close to some wineries/breweries. We plan to go back every year!!!!! Thank you Ed and Cindy for allowing us to be your very first!! <3 Anthony and Mandy
