About Eileen or Wally
We live in Mantiou Springs and work in education. Although we love Manitou, we also love being able to get away to Salida for nice relaxing weekends when we are able to.
Eileen or Wally purchased this House in 2004
Why Eileen or Wally chose Salida
As we said earlier, we wanted a place to get away to that was within a reasonable distance from our home in Manitou Springs. We fell in love with Salida and were fortunate enough to find one of the very few available homes on the river. We just couldn't pass it up!
What makes this House unique
The house and neighborhood are surprisingly quiet considering how close it is to downtown. All the traffic turns before they come down Sackett unless they live on that street, which is only 3 blocks long. We have the Arkansas River in our backyard, and all the downtown shops and restaurants are a short walk away (one block). We are 20 minutes from Monarch and less than a mile from the Salida Golf Course. There are no limits to the things you can do in and around Salida and we think that we were more than lucky to have found a house in this particular location. We love it there.

Simple house, great property on thr river and location in Salida was perfect.
Great for our family of 4
Cute home, have stayed many times and likely have reviewed it before! It's the perfect size for our family of 6. Our dog loves the backyard, though he hasn't caught a deer yet. :) Great location for skiing or fly-fishing and we walk everywhere, for both dinner and shopping.
Cozy & Convenient
Thanks for hosting our crew for the Salida Run Through Time Marathon/Half. We enjoyed the close proximity to the Steam Plant for the race, as well as being within easy walking distance of downtown & groceries. Comfortable living room, well-stocked kitchen, cool backyard with river access, and pet friendly - all great. Wish it had more than one bathroom, but we knew that going in. Look forward to next year!
Thank you for the kind words. We love the house and we have spent numerous wonderful weekends there ourselves. As a matter of fact, we live in Manitou, which is. a great place, but we have decided that we may retire to that house in Salida in a few years. You are most certainly welcome back at any time and thank you for being a great guest.
Very nice indeed! The longer we stayed the more we enjoyed it. Can't wait to come again!
We enjoyed this visit very much. Nice views, plenty of well stocked items, close to town and walks. Loved the cozy blankets. We made friends with the neighbors as well as some of the merchants in town. Getting to chat with local artists was an added plus as our son too is an artist. Recommend Absolute Bikes Absolutely! Great trails for walking or biking. Honestly we would like to stay here at least once a month. The yard is an added plus. Will plan several more trips if it is available. We loved it! I would like to go again tomorrow! Thanks for letting us stay. Hope to see you very soon again.
Clean and cozy!
This is the perfect property for our family of 6 and pup! Clean, cozy, and it has beautiful views of the river and the Salida mountain! We've stayed here twice and loved it both times, can't wait to return! The yard is spacious and fenced, perfect for kids and dogs. We walk everywhere from the house, including to the park to play and restaurants to eat.
Can’t wait to stay here again!
This was our very first VRBO and we had a wonderful stay! The property owners were great! Easy to communicate with. Check in check out was easy. Love that they are dog friendly with a reasonable cleaning fee! Some VRBO’s charge an arm and a leg for pets to stay, but my pets are better behaved than many kids. We had the most wonderful time! A truly relaxing retreat! A wonderful way to ring in the new year! We are already planning our next stay!!! Thank you so much Rio Perdido!
