Charming Cottage in a Charming Town
Our host was prompt and direct and helpful. We enjoyed the welcome basket and local information. The well-equipped kitchen was very nice, including coffee and tea. The cottage was exactly as described. The attention to details was awesome, so many little thoughtful details. I really enjoyed the location too. If we come back in warm weather I will enjoy the screened in porch!
We had a wonderful stay in St. Michaels. The cottage was so close to everything. We walked everywhere. Came to visit my best friend. We cooked, played games and watched the Oscars in our home away from home! We will be back.
Pre-Christmas Long Weekend in St Michaels
First, our thanks to Diane for sharing her wonderful cottage with us. We lived in St. Michaels for five years before moving to coastal Virginia on The Bay so we do know and love this quaint town..
The cottage is just perfect. The entire time I was wondering how much Diane would charge to visit us in Virginia and help me renovate our guest house on the river that we occasionally rent?
Scouts Honor!!! I was taking notes on "how to make your guests feel special" with her fresh flowers in every room, wine, cheese & crackers in refrigerator, snack basket with coffee cake and lovely soaps & bed linens. We are a 'non-hotel' couple and have stayed in some special rental homes in the US and abroad but Diane wins 5 Stars on the cutest cottage, perfect location in St. Michaels and welcoming hospitality!
St. Michaels deserves it's title for one of the 10 cutest towns on the Chesapeake Bay , both summer and winter. It's the perfect, sparkling holiday gift for you and yours at Christmastime. Please be sure to have dinner at 208 Restaurant...loved dinner there and went again the next night. Sadly, Perry Cabin, one of our old favorite restaurants had lost many stars...check reviews.
Hope we'll get back this summer. Thanks so much for the perfect Homecoming!
Beautiful stay in a beautiful town
We so enjoyed our visit to St. Michaels! We wished we could have stayed longer. The cottage is absolutely perfect and the owner so attentive to details. We had an amazing time using the bikes and exploring the town! Thank you for a perfect stay.
So glad we chose this little cottage for our 2 day stay on the Eastern Shore. My wife and I were celebrating our 41st wedding anniversary and this place was just perfect. It was: clean, comfortable, convenient location and just a comfortable place to be. We were able to enjoy a glass of wine on the screened in porch and with just a 2 minute walk down the road you're standing by the river. We enjoyed a sunrise and a moon rise from the bench there. So nice. If we come back to the area I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Dianna has a terrific host providing a bottle of wine, cheese and crackers and other goodies on our arrival. Also it was a real quiet neighbor. A few cars but mostly bikes and runners going by. Told our daughter and son-in-law about this place. They might be booking it soon for a few days.
About Diana Bartell
My husband and I fell in love with Saint Michaels 20 Years ago during an anniversary weekend. We began looking for a weekend home and were fortunate to find the cottage in 2006. As our family grew we renovated a slightly larger home near by. We decided to keep the cottage for our family to enjoy and now offer it to guests to enjoy its many charms as well.
Diana Bartell purchased this Cottage in 2006
Why Diana Bartell chose Saint Michaels
The location is ideal! It's on a gorgeous corner lot with the Miles River at the end of the street and the views and sunsets are incredible. You can easily walk or bike to town -- my daughter and her friends like to go to Justines ice cream in the summer and I enjoy biking to the farmers market for flowers and delicious pastries. My husband and I also love to run and take advantage of the SM race every year. The starting line is just down the street, perhaps a 3 minute walk. During the warmer months we also ride or walk into town or the harbor to enjoy the unique dining/shopping
What makes this Cottage unique
The cottage has an enchanting feel to it. A sign in the kitchen says it all "This is my happy Place" We hope it is for our guests as well. The screened in porch is a favorite spot to relax, read a book, enjoy a glass of wine in the evening or coffee in the morning. We hope the welcome basket with baked breakfast breads, savory snacks and chocolate will help begin your relaxing stay.
