The Cannons is truly a fantastic holiday apartment just moments away from the seafront. The apartment provides plenty of space, natural light and sea views from the side of the bay window. This stylish apartment provides a pristine, hotel style haven with all the comfort and space needed for relaxing and unwinding and making the most of a typically English seaside escape. The fantastic location means you are a stones throw from the beach, and within a few minutes walk of all the shops, restaurants and other amenities that Southwold has to offer. The Cannons holds an independent 4 **** rating with Visit England. It is situated on the first floor and forms part of Suffolk House and can be booked together with The Pier, The Blyth and or The Lighthouse. Please note that The Cannons also has a sofa bed, travel cot and high chair.

Amazing place to stay

The Cannons is a spacious apartment pretty much in the heart of Southwold which is beautifully decorated, comfortably furnished and ideal for the perfect stay. Only downside is having to tear yourself away when it’s time to leave!

The perfect property for staying in Southwold

As soon as we entered the property we were greeted by well thought out coastal decor and the property was clean. The property is a two minute walk to the beach and five minutes to the high street, making it an ideal base to explore what the town had to offer. The description of the property was accurate and at no point did we have difficulty parking close by. It was the perfect stay for our honeymoon - thank you!

New Year In Southwold

We visit Southwold every year and have stayed in a variety of properties (including The Blyth which is in the same building) and the Cannons was by far the best. Lovely size, well appointed, comfortable and in an excellent location, we loved it.

The Cannons was high caliber!

We had a great stay there for three nights. The flat was nicely proportioned, the interior design clean and simple. It was the kind of place you didn't mind spending time in when the weather is wet, windy and miserable, which it was for a day or so!

The Cannons

Third time we’ve stayed here, it just has a really nice ambience. Lots of natural light and comfy chairs/sofa. Great location for pubs, shops, beach. Only way I’d fault it is the lack of lav paper!

An excellent property for a short holiday with a toddler

We recently stayed at the Cannons with our daughter and 20 month old grand daughter. I chose it because of its open plan layout with no stairs once in the apartment and not too many doors. It turned out to be a perfect space for all of us. The bedrooms are large enough to accommodate a cot and having a separate bath and shower room meant that all needs were catered for. It is in a fabulous location with the seafront at the bottom of the road, the town centre a short walk away , a good kiddies playground close by and we managed to find street parking right outside the front door.I would recommend this property.

We’ve stayed in various properties in Southwold and this was by far our favourite. Perfect location and decor to a high spec. Plenty of cutlery, crockery, and glasses. Washing up liquid, dishcloth, tea towels and dishwasher tablets provided. We have already been looking to rebook for the Summer.

The kitchen was lacking a large saucepan for cooking pasta for 4 adults. No empty cupboard space for guests foodstuffs.The armchair had a bad stain on the seat cushion when it was turned over it was covered in dog hairs. The chair smelt of dog we do not have a dog and found it very off putting. There was no vaccuum for us to clean the chair. The rug needs replacing or shampooing.The beautiful large sash windows rattled in the windy weather they had pieces of wood and plastic wedged in them but still rattled. The guttering over the 2nd bedroom is blocked.The cental Heating timer needs adjusting came on at 3.30am The apartment was bright and welcoming ideal decoration for the seaside. Key safe pre-checkin information and information pack were very informative.

Compromised

Setting aside the lack of hot water and heating, which the landlord had warned us about but which was NOT fixed on the Monday (of a Saturday to Wednesday stay) so stayed that way throughout our stay, many little things spoiled the stay: no teapot, no spare toilet rolls (and the flimsiest possible toilet paper) , no spare rubbish bag, central living room light not working, heavy bang when doors are closed, missing cord from living room blind, curtains in both bedrooms very hard to close, heated towel rail not connected up . Shame, because it’s a lovely flat and well situated, and a little more attention to detail and better maintenance would have improved things immensely

Weekend away

This property is good for a few days away by the coast. We would recommend however a few things to be aware of, Plentiful free parking however not always nearby especially for loading and unloading. Neighbours can be noisy early/ late, coming and going as the front door slams and noise travels up the walls as does the noise from people coming up and down the stairs. The baking trays, as per a review a while back, are in need of replacement and are a breeding ground for germs! Avoid or take your own. Bed linen was crisp and clean and beds were comfy. Plenty of sofas and rooms were nice and airy although Patch on living room wall needs filling and painting! Overall it suited our needs and was well priced for what was provided.

Perfect location for exploring Southwold

Easy and very comfortable from start to finish. Lovely apartment. Nothing awkward or fiddly to use. Though one suggestion I would make is having a bin for recyclables. We’ve had a fabulous time.
