We thoroughly enjoyed our Memorial Day vacation. This property is an easy walk to the beach. If you’ve stayed at high rise condos, it’s a shorter walk to the beach than those. The unit has awesome decks and plenty space and privacy. We loved being able to bike to get ice cream and go to the state park. My husband and 12 year old spent lots of time fishing in the area.
Great value, peaceful location, comfortable and everything you need for a great vacation
Great value for the money! This is a comfortable unit that is very well stocked with every kitchen item needed to cook for a family also with a coffee pot, electric hot water pot, blender, outdoor grill, and a large pantry to store food. The beds and pullout were all comfortable. Lots of towels and plenty of linens. There is a full size washer and dryer that worked well. Both bedrooms upstairs had deck areas. The main level overlooked the pond and there were tons of turtles that we fed every morning and night. Loved the outdoor shower downstairs and the chairs and beach toys! The unit has older Tommy Bahama style furniture with darker wood and decor and is tastefully decorated. It was a plus that the unit and Barrier Dunes is dog friendly. The development was quiet and a nice area to walk around with the pool and ponds. Great restaurants in the area with ice cream and donuts right up the road. I would highly recommend this unit and I would rent it again.
Definitely a tranquil location🏝☀️😀
We always love our time in Barrier Dunes. Have been coming there for many years and have rented many different condos . This was the first time we have been on a pond. The condo was lovely, probably our favorite. Lots of privacy on a quiet street.

B&D Beach Retreats
Early Spring Week On The Cape
We chose Barrier Dunes for it's remote location and dog friendliness. We are a 65+ couple with two small dogs and we like to travel together when possible. We chose this particular unit for it's location (pond side, some ocean view and that it was at the edge of the property with no development next to one side and away from the amenities). We were pleased with the privacy of the quiet corner of the development. Nothing was really far away as it was a short walk to the beach or either of the pools, one of which was described as being "heated". NOT. We had a few very windy days and that together with the early spring temps left my wife excited about taking a dip in the heated pool. It was much too cold for her and the same temperature as the clubhouse pool, only more protected from the wind. The beach was beautiful; soft, white sand stretching beyond sight in both directions, and not at all crowded even during "Spring Break". For me, the water was fine but I was one of the very few adults that went into the ocean and/or pool. The water was mostly frequented by teens at the beach and younger children at the pool (all having a delightful time).
The unit itself was very comfortable, clean and in good repair. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, silverware, pans and pots, though there was a shortage of lids for the pots. There were ample towels and a washer and dryer that came in handy. One side, with the main deck off the living area, looks out over the pond that is filled with turtles (of all sizes) and a few fish. We would throw some dog food or bread over the rail and watch the fun of the feeding frenzy, In the morning the sun shown on the bank below our deck and a large number of turtles would come on out to sun bathe. The pond was definitely a plus for its charm and tranquility. The weather was so nice (cool and dry) most of the time that there were no bugs to speak of and we could leave the sliders open, without using the screens, without any problem. No grilling on the deck in rainy weather as it is shaded but not at all protected from the rain.
The feeling at Barrier Dunes is one of complete safety. We never felt compelled to lock doors or hide beach toys. It is a family destination and everyone seemed at ease. Super market shopping is a 30 minute drive, both ways, so stock up when you first get there. Fresh seafood is available at a couple of shops on the Cape. Hagen Daz at the "Trading Post".
Barrier Dunes is located at the tip of Cape San Blas and just 5 minutes away from St. Joseph State Park. The park is over 8 miles in size and 3 miles of bike paths, beach access (no pets allowed) and a boat landing. Barrier Dunes is a gated community with 2 swimming pools (one of the pools is gulf front), 2 lighted tennis courts, paved roads with street lights, stocked fishing ponds and a playground! There are also three beach accesses! You are within a 2 minute walk to the sugar white beaches of Cape San Blas where we are known for our amazing sunsets. Our tourism is nature based, so you'll experience all types of wonders that Mother Nature has to offer!!!
