About Carlos and Karolina
Hello there, We are Carlos and Karolina Galvez, owners of Mountain Pause Retreat. I am from Peru and my wife is from Switzerland. We met on a Caribbean cruise, married in Alaska and settled in Miami Florida. Over the last 27 years we have been blessed with 3 children, all grown up now, and also with the opportunity to travel all over the world, including the Peruvian Andes and the Swiss Alps. Although we love the sea where we met, we both have a special place in our hearts for our mountains and what they represent. So when we first visited the Smoky Mountains we fell in love with the area as we saw them as a memory of each other’s own culture. It was our dream to one day own a Cabin here as a gathering place for our growing family and friends, encouraging them to leave the hustle and bustle of our busy city lives behind and take a “Pause” in our gorgeous “Mountain Pause Retreat”.
Carlos and Karolina purchased this Cabin in 2016
Why Carlos and Karolina chose Sevierville
Mountain Pause Retreat is one of the most beautiful cabins in the Smoky Mountains. The views are spectacular. We simply love its spacious rooms, the Resort, the facilities, the overall area, close enough to enjoy the attractions of the main towns nearby but far enough to relax and enjoy the wilderness and serene views of the Great Smoky Mountains. We are enjoying it to the fullest with our family and friends and when not in town, we want to share the same experience with you. We hope you enjoy our Cabin and take home a memory that will last for years to come.
What makes this Cabin unique
It is an easy drive on the newly paved road and access from East or West US 321. It is close enough to all the action in Pigeon Forge, Sevierville and Gatlinburg but far enough to enjoy the peacefulness, lots of fresh mountain air and surrounding wilderness. It's bright rooms lighten the mood and are a perfect recipe to relax and recharge. The back entry access to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park as well as Cades Cove is just minutes away. There are plenty of choices for grocery shopping along the way or simply have them ordered and ready for you upon your arrival.

What a place!
This was the best place ever. We were a family of eight siblings and our spouses and we could not have asked for a better place to stay. Plenty of room, and many spaces to congregate, which is exactly what we did! We started our days out with breakfast at the cabin, moved on to explore the area during the day and met back up at the cabin for dinner. We spent some hours out on the deck, just enjoying the awesome view. What a place to have that morning cup of coffee!
We may just make this an annual event. Thank you Carlos and Karolina. What a wonderful place you have.
Awesome cabin! Many fun memories!
What a beautiful cabin! Well stocked with everything we could have needed! There was plenty of space for our group of 20. The kids had a great time playing in the game room and watching movies in the theater room. The view off the balconies was amazing! The owners were very helpful and welcoming! We loved our stay at Mountain Pause Resort!
We had a wonderful time. Space was great for all. View was great. Didn’t have to leave the mountain if you didn’t want to.
We had such a wonderful stay! The owners were absolutely amazing and provided everything we needed. The cabin was beautiful and very clean
Best trip ever to the Smoky Mountains
My husband and I were celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary. We decided to take our children and grandchildren. There were 13 of us in total. The cabin was everything and more that we wanted. Plenty of room to spread out. The game room was amazing and our family enjoyed a lot of good times in it. The kitchen was awesome and we cooked and enjoyed our meals together. Enough kitchen tools to cook any kind of meals you want. The views from the decks were wonderful. The cabin was very clean. The owners responded quickly to any questions we had and were there to help if we needed them. We come to the Smokys at least twice a year, and this was our BEST trip and cabin. Thanks Carlos & Karolina, you are the best. We will be back.
A wonderful family vacation
My family spent 5 days at the Mountain Pause Retreat, and perfect does not even begin to describe our stay. The mountain views are absolutely beautiful. There was plenty of room for our 15 adults and 4 kids, and the entertainment level did its job!! So many memories were made here this week. The owners, Carlos and Karolina, made this trip stand out even more. They were both very inviting, caring, and made sure everything was perfect. We were sad to see the week end, but are looking forward to another stay at the Mountain Pause Retreat.
Thank you for the fantastic review, we are thrilled you had a great time at Mountain Pause Retreat. It was a pleasure to welcome your family to our home away from home and communicating with you before, during and after your stay.
Thank you for leaving the Cabin in great shape, we appreciate it very much. We look forward to welcoming you back to Mountain Pause Retreat very soon.
Sincerely Carlos and Karolina
