Why Todd Sotir chose Penn Yan
It's a beautiful, well kept 5 acre parcel in a prime location bordering the Keuka Lake Outlet and the Outlet Trail. Two lakes (Keuka and Seneca) both within 4 miles. The Cabin is brand new (Spring 2016) New Shower building added April of 2017. We offer an incredible value for those traveling on a budget.
What makes this Cabin unique
The property borders the Keuka Lake Outlet and the Outlet Trail which creates plenty of no cost, fun things to do for our guests. The Keuka Lake Outlet is the waterway that connects Keuka Lake to Seneca Lake. Guests can fish the Outlet or take a short drive to Keuka or Seneca Lake, both are less than 4 miles away. Quite peaceful and private setting, close to nature. Guests can enjoy the beauty of the Outlet Trail which is 6+ mile walking/biking/horseback trail. The Cabin has a tiny house feel with most of the comforts of home. More than a dozen wineries within minutes of this location and the Windmill Farm and Craft Market which is open on Saturdays has been a big hit with our guests.

It was the perfect romantic getaway and perfectly placed in wine country!!!
Beautiful cozy cabin for a weekend away
We had an amazing time here. It was very clean and well kept and the property is beautiful. The shower and toilet being away from the cabin was not a problem at all. We just loved everything about this place and can’t wait to come back again!
Wonderful place to stay and relax. Great surroundings, nice and peaceful.
Great place ! Really enjoyed the area:)
The property is clean and well-kept. The cabin is very comfortable, warm and dry. Our host left many little helpful amenities:)
BEAUTIFUL property, extremely private, easy to find, thanks!
Perfect for a Relaxing Getaway
First off, Todd and Mary are great people. They are responsive to any requests you may have. My wife and I were here celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary and found it to be the perfect getaway.
The cabin was clean and the property well-kept. The outdoor toilet and shower are modern and clean, with heating lamps in the shower area. At first, we thought the 19-gallon water heater would not be enough, but we had plenty of hot water for two showers within minutes of each other. There were three fire pits, one of which we used our last evening there, along with a picnic table. There was also a small fire grill. We brought our own George Foreman grill for our dinners, but we used the fire grill one evening to cook steak in a cast iron skillet. I was skeptical it would work because the grill looked so small, but the fire and cast iron combined for a great medium rare steak!
The kitchen area came stocked with a microwave, coffee maker, dorm-size refrigerator, condiments, coffee, sweeteners, plastic cups and real utensils. The cabin has an AC which was handy during the time we were there, as well as a heater (which we didn't use!). There is plenty of lighting and outlets, to include USB outlets.
There is easy access to the Outlet Trail. It's a relatively easy four mile hike to Penn Yan with wide, well-maintained trails. After our hike into Penn Yan, we stopped for a brew break and lunch at the Tavern Restaurant. The food, beer and barmaid were all great! We both enjoy breakfast very much, so we had to visit the Penn Yan Diner one morning. It was like an old-time Jersey diner. While the food was good, the diner was very warm inside, unless you were sitting next to an AC. We also visited the Windmill Farm & Craft Market on our last day there. We recommend that you plan to eat at the Windmill. You'll have hundreds of options, all of which smelled great! We ate a big breakfast beforehand, but wished we'd saved it for the Windmill.
When I was researching Todd and Mary's cabin, I think I remember the earliest reviews mentioning not having a shower, or referring to a rudimentary shower. That's not the case any more because the owners responded. The one recommendation I would make would be to find some way to add a sink to the kitchen area to make clean up after meals a little easier.
We are both extremely happy we found this cabin. The hosts were responsive and gracious, the setting was clean, comfortable and relaxing, and the experience was awesome!
Thank you for taking the time to give such a detailed review. Glad you enjoyed your stay !
