Our lovely Cottage is located at the corner of School Drive and Camellia Street, which is one of the liveliest areas in Everglades City. This cozy 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage will keep you close, within walking, bicycling, or golf cart distance to all of Everglades City's major attractions and also to its local color, because of its awesome location near all the fish houses found along the Barron River.

Our cottage features an open floor concept for the kitchen, common room and living room. Play billiards while you're waiting for dinner, or watch TV while the kids play in the living room as you prepare breakfast. Kitchen features a built-in island with breakfast counter, subway tiles, and stainless steel appliances. The common room and living room feature an old Florida plantation-style decor and furniture, including two comfortable sofa beds.

The two bedrooms are located towards the north end of the house, overlooking Camellia Street. The master suite includes a large queen and a large ensuite bathroom with a shower and large spa-like tub. The laundry room is also located in this area. Nearby is another bedroom which features two full beds and is adjacent to a smaller bathroom with toilet, shower and sink.

Our cottage has WiFi, cable, and TVs in every room. There's also a lovely terrace outside with a BBQ grill and seating area where you can sit and enjoy your paper or read your guide book before you begin your tour of Everglades City! To tour the neighborhood, there are two bicycles and a golf cart for your use!

We do welcome children and elderly people on our property, but we will note that the home is not child proof, and some of the steps, including one in between the common room and the living room/kitchen area, might be a barrier for handicapped people and/or people with limited mobility traveling with you. The cottage is the intimate setting to relax and reconnect with your loved ones during your vacation!

For a vacation rental in Everglades City, you can't beat our location! We are located next to everything you want to see: the historic homes, the fish houses and well-known restaurants like Camellia Street Grill, Triad Seafood and Sweet Mayberry's Cafe and Gifts, the Museum of the Everglades, City Hall, the Rod and Gun Club, many of the airboat tours like Speedy's and Captain Doug's, kayak tours like the ones at The Ivy House, and McLeod Park, which is a great place to take the kids to unwind or to play a game of tennis or basketball.

You’ll want to drive over the causeway to Chokoloskee Island to visit the restaurant we own, Havana Café of the Everglades. Other attractions include the Smallwood Store, Everglades National Park, and great opportunities to rent or charter a boat. Big Cypress National Preserve, Everglades Adventure Tours, Wootens, and Big Cypress Gallery are in Ochopee, only a 10-15 minute drive away. We are an hour's drive east of Naples, a 45-minute drive east of Marco Island, and a two-hour drive west of Miami.

About Owner/Manager

We are a fun-loving couple who have lived in the Everglades City area for about two decades. We own a very popular restaurant, called Havana Café. My husband, Carlos works as a grouper fisherman, and we use some of his catch at the restaurant.

Why Owner/Manager chose Florida South West

We liked the location of the cottage and wanted to become landlords. So, when this property became available, we immediately bought it! When we bought the house, the exterior was painted a bright yet deep lavender color, which earned it the nickname "The Purple House" from everyone in town. We painted the exterior a different color and also spent an excruciating yet fruitful year remodeling the house. Although it’s no longer purple, you’ll love “The Purple Cottage.”

What makes this cottage unique

We just loved the location because it really is close to everything, which made us think that it would be a great rental property. The grocery store, post office, restaurants, gas station, museums, kayak rental companies, and historic buildings are all within walking distance. We just remodeled it too and we just love how it looks now! We think you will too!

This bathroom features a large, comfy jetted tub, a tiled shower stall with a glass door, a toilet, his/her sink, plenty of coat hangers and towels, and a linen closet. Please note that the washer/dryer is also located in this bathroom, behind two wooden, folding doors. Bathroom 2: Much smaller than the master bathroom, this bathroom has an attractive visual appearance. As a three-quarter bath, it includes a shower stall, a toilet, a sink, and a small tub.

The nearest bathroom is the master suite bathroom, which has a door located behind the couch in the living room. Living Room/Day Bed: This sofa in the living room also pulls out into a daybed. Nice, roomy and clean.

This little cottage was nice and in a good location. Stayed with a group of five and had plenty of room. Owner's were very nice and responsive to any questions that I had. Would recommend this place for anyone who is looking for a nice comfortable place to stay in Everglades city.

We had a great week here. The owners are very accommodating and always available for assistance. They are lovely people and their restaurant Havana Cafe is great! The cottage is airy, well appointed, clean and comfortable. We will definitely come back again.

Great Christmas get away.

Excellent place. Quiet and peaceful. Perhaps air conditioning was set a bit too low. Overall it exceeded our expectations.Very clean and comfortable. Much larger than photos suggest. Thanks for the coffee!

Annual 3-day Seafood Festival held in February. For white sandy beaches, beachfront dining and shopping, it is an easy drive to nearby Naples, Marco Island, and Fort Myers.
