Rachel's Place is a cottage that I remodeled for my mother when she moved here. When her dementia accelerated she could no longer live on her own. She moved into our house with us. I took a lot of time and care to make it special for her. Now I invite you to enjoy Rachel's Place. Everything is brand new. It has everything you need to provide a wonderful and relaxing base for your trip. Signal Mountain is a beautiful little community, once voted the best place in Tennessee to raise a family. Just a short drive from Rachel's House is the brow which affords incredible vistas of the Tennessee River Valley, Chattanooga, and the Smokey Mountains. It is close enough to all the attractions and activities of Chattanooga for easy access, but far enough away to have the feel of a country setting.

About Jerry Market
My wife and I moved to Signal Mtn, Tn in 2002. We are originally from Indiana. I was a pastor for 28 yrs, 14 here in Signal Mountain. My wife works part time as a Library Clerk at a local Law firm. We have two daughters, Sara and Jenny. Sara is married and lives here locally, Jenny lives in Brooklyn, NY. Rachel's Place is a cottage that I completely gutted and remodeled for my mother when she moved in with us. However her dementia has accelerated to such a degree that she cannot live by herself. So she moved in with us and we made the cottage into a vacation rental. Debi loves to decorate inside and out. I love to work with my hands building things, taking something that has no value and making it into something. I love to read, Debi loves yard sales. I know while traveling sometimes you don't feel like neighboring (country talk for getting to know people) but if you do we would like to get to know you.
Jerry Market purchased this Cottage in 2010

Very comfortable and clean.
The cottage was very comfortable and felt like home. Nice quiet area, not far from everything we had planned to do while we were there. We had to leave early but the couple says we were there we really enjoyed. Will definitely stay again.
My husband and I only stayed a night, but Rachel’s place is a comfy, cozy, and peaceful cabin to stay in while visiting Chattanooga.
Nice refuge from the city bustle
The information provided is exactly what you find upon arrival. If you have to use both beds just know that you will have to go through the bathroom to get to the main bedroom unless you put the Murphy bed up during the day. We did not find it a problem as we were travelling with our 2 small kids.
We drove into Chattanooga several times and the drive was not far at all. For us it was definitely worth having some extra space and the wonderful quiet at night.
We will definately stay here again. The location was great, easily found and suprisingly quiet from road sounds. A small store is just up the road and a large grocery store the same distance in the opposite direction. Chattanooga is 15 minutes to the front of the mountain and the Sequatchee Valley 30 minutes to the other. For road cyclists , there are convient routes on top of the mountain and numerous climbs in all directions. We loved it and will stay here again when visiting.
Unfortunately, we arrived late and had to leave early so we didn’t really get any time to explore the town around this cottage. The house was as advertised. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean. Access to the cottage was easy as well. The owner sent great directions. Too bad I didn’t follow them. Heed his advice when he says to stay on the highway going to the house. The crazy scenic route that GPS took us on was super scary. It was 1030pm, dark and super foggy. Add in several switchback turns when all you can see to stay on the road is the white line. Just plain terrible. I did heed his advice on the way home. Say no to Anderson Pike Road. Trust me. Thanks again! I hope we get to come again and spend some more time!!
Quiet and comfortable
We stayed in Rachel’s Place around this time last year and loved it, so we found ourselves there again. We love seeing the lights at Rock City. This cottage is the perfect location for this and other activities. It’s nice and quiet and has everything we need.
