This property offers a 1,000 sq ft lake house with 50 ft feet of private beach front on Lake Huron. It has 1 bathroom, 3 bedrooms and sleeps 8 comfortably. The lot is 200 ft deep so there is plenty of room for yard games and parking for up to 4 vehicles. We are located adjacent to M-25, on a private road; no need to worry about traffic if you have small children. The house is located half way between Caseville and Port Austin. The house is also 1/4 mile from a convenience store and 1/2 mile from a Public Park and boat launch.

It is ideal for when you just want to get away from it all. Now, we want to share these unique experiences with you and your family.

Great house. Steps to the beach.
We had a great time. House is very clean and family friendly. Steps to the beach, made it great for the kids. Definitely will look to return again.
Had a Wonderful Stay . . .
We had a great long weekend at Jon's place. It was clean, comfortable, and convenient to both Port Austin and Caseville. It's close enough to the water that you can hear the waves at night -- which makes for some very good sleeping. It sits back off of 25, so that it's very quiet as well. Makes for a great getaway.
Nice beach but that is about it.
This is a typical dated cottage and hardly worth the high price. You would think for the rental price the owner would invest in decent beds. Sleeping for a week on ancient K-mart full beds was hard. For one weeks rent the owner could have purchased some decent queens. The place was clean but the water is terrible and with no air conditioning it was unlivable when the temps got over 80. Make sure you rake the beach for an cigarette buts or bottle caps or you will lose your deposit like we did. Also note the people next door will report on everything you do any perceived infraction of the rules will lose you your deposit. There are better options for the money.
Dear Daniel C.,
I am sorry you didn’t seem to enjoy your stay with us and I would like to address your concerns one by one.
First, the house has been renovated over the past three years putting in a brand-new bathroom, all new light fixtures, appliances, flooring, and painting the interior and exterior of the house. As the house get updated, I update the pictures on the website. This allows renters to know exactly what they are getting when they book. Also, the website does list there is no air conditioning in the house. But, we do have box fans and ceiling fans in each individual room.
Second, I am sorry you feel keeping your security deposit was unfair. You broke several rules of our rental agreement. Your group was overcapacity, there was smoking in the house, and you had two dogs with you. I had to have a professional service come in to remove the smoke smell and pet dander from the house. I keep this policy for the pleasure of all my future renters.
Lastly, my neighbor next door is the property manager and very friendly. I let her know how many guests are coming and what to expect (if there are any special needs). She is there to help you with whatever you need during your stay.
In the future I would recommend your group be more honest and upfront with what your expectations are. I would have recommended another place that accommodates more people, pets, and smoking. This will allow both parties to come away with a great experience. I never want anyone to feel that their money isn’t being well spent on a relaxing vacation.
It was super comfortable. The only negative were the rocks on the beach as your going into the water. A few of us cut our foot on the rocks.
Amazing from the minute we unlocked the door!
Jon, you should have heard us women as we scampered through room by room delighted to find the cottage to be even better than described. We enjoyed the (practically) private beach, the huge gas grill, deck furniture, Nexflix and Roko, comfortable separate bedrooms, fully supplied kitchen and the clean bathroom! The weather wasn't too great for a couple of days, so went to Caseville, Port Austin and Bad Axe for shopping and eating out. Then on our final day, we were able to do the kayak trip to Turnip Rock! Previous reviews made us aware of the rocky conditions of the lake so we were prepared. The only other thing that would make this place perfect would be to install a toilet and sink upstairs. Delightful accommodations for a girls getaway vacation! Highly recommend.
We enjoyed our stay at the Port Austin cottage. It was very clean when we arrived. The owners were very accommodating. It was a peaceful area with a great view of beautiful sunsets.
