About the host
Hosted by Marilys Regueiro, owner of Luxury Getaways Portland
After 15 years in a corporate career, I wanted to turn what I love most into a career. I have always been passionate about houses, interior decorating, hosting dinner parties and hosting friends and family overnight in my home. Owning vacation rental properties seemed like the perfect way to combine my passions into a career and I absolutely love the career I have created for myself!
My husband and I moved to Maine purely for lifestyle, knowing that I wanted to pursue owning and managing vacation rental homes as a career, and we began by purchasing two homes with ocean views in 2005. We purchased our third vacation rental home in 2015, this home in 2016, and our fifth vacation renal home, #1112052, in 2017, #1660664 in 2019; and we are about to introduce our largest vacation rental in mid-April, 2019. We love our vacation homes and love hosting guests and sharing what we know about our wonderful city and fantastic state of Maine.

Why they chose this property
I have been a longtime fan of a locally famous home designer and had dreamed of one day buying one of her homes. When this home was made available for sale, I knew it would be the ideal vacation rental home for several reasons. The neighborhood is amazing; the beach is gorgeous and the and the walkability to several really good restaurants, bakeries and gourmet food shops, in addition to Willard Beach down the street, made the location perfect. It's also so close to downtown Portland but in a much more peaceful location. We had just one year prior purchased another vacation rental home in the neighborhood (#4019326) and it had been very popular, so we knew this home would be the perfect home for our guests who wanted to be in the neighborhood but needed more space, more bedrooms, more bathrooms and more beds.
We have since purchased a third vacation home in the neighborhood that was redone by the same designer who renovated this home. That property (#1112052) is our largest home and it has four bedrooms, 2.5 baths and ocean views--it's a few blocks from this house in the same neighborhood and is only 150 yards from the beach. It's located right in between our other two Willard Beach vacation homes. We purchased the property as our near-future family downsize and it's fantastic! We can't wait to move in but are thrilled to be offering it to our guests until then.

What makes this property unique
There are many unique benefits of this home that make it an ideal vacation home, whether you are a small group, or a large multi-generational family.
The home feels cozy and open at the same time and I frequently host groups as small as two couples and as large as 16! Everyone seems to love it. The interior of the home and the tall ceilings and open floor plan and layout make it feel roomy, but there are different conversations areas that are also cozy, whether you have a small family/small group of friends or a large group.
It is warm and cozy for small groups and it also provides a great set up for large groups for several reasons. One is that the floor plan is open and spacious on the first floor, with 3 separate but conneced living spaces. There is room for a lot of comfy/oversized furniture for large groups to gather and we also have also separate, smaller living spaces to cozy up with a good book or for a more private conversation with one or two others.
The layout of the bedrooms and bathrooms also makes it ideal for couples or multigenerational families sharing the home.
There are two bedrooms separated by a full bathroom with a tub/shower on the first floor and then another two bedrooms with a very large spa bathroom on the second floor that features a deep soaking tub and a large shower.
Each floor has a bedroom with a king-sized bed and each floor also has a bedroom with a queen bed. There is a large "family" bedroom on the second floor, which is also the perfect "slumber party" bedroom, with a queen bed, a double bed and a single bed (upon request). Adjacent to that room is an open loft space with two twin beds.
On the first floor, we have a small den, which features a very comfortable standard/double size Serta sleeper sofa. I have a memory foam pad for it and it is very comfortable. That room has a tv and a coffee table that can be removed and it's very small and cozy. It is off of the living room and has the privacy of a door.
