Willard Beach was rented the 2nd prettiest beach in Maine in 2018.

This stunningly beautiful, fully-renovated beach house is the quintessential Maine Beach house. Painstakingly renovated by a regionally-famous designer for over 12 months, the brand new home is now available as a vacation rental for the first time ever. The designer's work on this home has received national attention and the home is featured on the popular "Cottage Living", "House of Turquoise" and "Hooked on Houses" websites and in the April 2018 issue of The Old House Journal magazine.

PLEASE NOTE: We have already made and continue to make improvements to the home as follows: Photos to come at the end of October.

1. Newly installed tall privacy fence now surrounds the entire back yard and side yards with charming picket-style fronts and gates (on both sides of the front of the house).

3. Blackout curtains have been added to the 3 windows in this new bedroom design.
4. Decorative upgrades to the master bedroom and blackout curtains added to the 2 largest windows.

We recently had the pleasure of staying in this fabulous house. It was not only beautifully decorated but the location was exceptional- close to the beach and our now favorite Scratch Bakery. The house is fully equipped with everything one could imagine in a luxury beach house. At our arrival and to our delight, was a homemade cake on the kitchen counter! Marilys gave the most detailed list of the house information but also of everything one would need to know about the surrounding area. We never rented a house where the host went above and beyond with such amazing information. Our children and grandchildren have taken home lasting memories of our wonderful Maine vacation- Thank you Marilys!!!

Perfect, Perfect, Perfect!

Maryls was the perfect host. She greeted us upon arrival and showed us all around the house. She gave us helpful tips to make sure we knew all about the features of the house and informed us about the surrounding area. The house is perfectly decorated and outfitted with everything you need to have a most delightful stay. We decided to relax and not utilize the kitchen, but it truly has everything you need to cook and entertain. The weather was perfect and the we took full advance of the outdoors. We walked to the beach, had coffee on the rooftop deck in the mornings and wine in the evening. We rented a boat for a day and went to Fort Williams Park. We enjoyed many delicious lobster rolls and had great meals at local restaurants. I highly recommend you consider being a guest at this house. Marilys really goes to great lengths to make sure that your stay will be one that you will never forget. I'm already looking at our calendar to see when we can return!

It's All in the Details!

I don't think we've stayed in a vacation home with such attention to detail and we have stayed in several rentals over the years. The contact prior to and during out stay was superior. The house was equipped with everything you could possibly need and then some! There was a cake cooling on the stove when we arrived (seriously!!), the linens were of the highest quality and plentiful, the kitchen was fully stocked with all the necessities minus the food, the home was clean from top to bottom and the location was great! Marilys and Bob go above and beyond in thinking of everything (even shampoo and body wash in both showers!)I would recommend this house in a minute!

Amazing house and location!

We enjoyed our stay in South Portland. What's not to love about a 5 minute walk to Scratch bakery and Willard Beach?! The house is as GOOD as the pictures. Decor and furniture is perfect for Maine. The beds were comfy and towels/sheets were luxurious. The kitchen has everything you need. And the rooftop patio is perfect for cocktails and sunsets or coffee and sunrises. More than a Beach House

We enjoyed our stay immensely. The property is only a block from the beach making it ideal to take a stroll to watch the sun come up. This comfy home had all the amenities and each and every bed was decked up with luxurious bedding making it tempting to nap and sleep in! We look forward to revisiting this well -kept home again...being greeted by a lemon poppyseed cake dusted with powder sugar was the absolute best!

Perfect vacation home! Very comfortable accommodations! Walk to beach and close by Willard Square!

We had a family vacation with 6 adults, and 3 children under the age of 5. We stayed 5 nights. The quiet neighborhood is lovely, with lots of flowers and well maintained homes. It is a very short walk to scenic Willard beach. Our toddlers loved the playground there! This beautiful home is very comfortable, and has everything you could possibly need. Each family had their own bedroom, and the children slept well, because there was space for a crib and 2 pack n plays! The beds and bedding were SO comfortable, and the bathrooms are beautiful, with lots of fluffy white towels. The half bath, on the first floor, was great for a family group. Not many rental homes in the area have that feature. Marilys and Robert were immediately responsive when we had one issue with a doorknob. It was replaced within hours! There are books for young children and a “play kitchen”, as well as lots of beach toys and yard games. There is great living space, and natural light, in the downstairs, with wonderful cross breezes from the many windows. Lots of comfortable seating in dining and living area with loads of pillows. The gorgeous kitchen is very spacious and easy to cook in. We grilled outside one evening, and got bagels and bread from Scratch bakery most mornings. There are wonderful restaurants, and pizza, in South Portland, and Portland. Marilys had a freshly baked bundt cake for our arrival! It’s a quick drive to the Old Port area, in Portland, for shopping, dining, harbor cruises, or just sightseeing. Our family LOVED the house, the area, and the weather!

Amazing and stunning vacation home with it all!

We recently stayed at the cottage on Henry Street for a family vacation and I can’t say enough positive things about this rental! The home is beautifully appointed and so comfortable! Plenty of beds to sleep in and chairs for dining. The house is in a perfect location to explore Portland and the surrounding areas. We walked to Scratch Bakery every day! It is a 4 minute walk! Willard beach is a 2 minute walk and is wonderful at sunset! Our host was incredible, there was a toddler kitchen set for our little ones to play with, backyard toys and beach chairs and towels. And Marilys had made a delicious cake upon our arrival!! The kitchen was a blast to cook in and the beds so comfy! Downtown Portland is 10 mins away and you are near so many parts of Maine! We drove 40 minutes south to Kennebunkport one day. There is so much to do even right near the house. I would highly recommend this house for a family vacation or a group of friends looking for a quiet place to relax! It was WONDERFUL!!!

Beautiful Home!

We stayed at this beautiful home over the long Memorial Day weekend. We were met by Marilys upon arrival as she had just finished baking the most wonderful cake for us. The house smelled so wonderful.....as wonderful as the cake was delicious! This is such a lovely home with the most comfortable beds! There is really every possible thing that you could need. Marilys also provided us with extensive lists of info for dining, shopping etc. We will certainly look to stay there again when we need a place in the Portland, ME area! Thank you again, Marilys!

We spent a long weekend at this house and couldn’t have been happier. Location is in a very quiet neighborhood that is 10 minutes from old Portland and 20 minutes from airport and easy drive to scenic sites north or south. Kitchen is well equipped for a full meal. Gorgeous House in South Portland 2 Min. to the Beach!

This house was straight out of a magazine! Brand New and Beautiful!! We had the best time! Marilys was the best! I swear she had poppy seed cake for us when we arrived and I swear it was still warm!!! We dug right in. :) She has every thing you could possibly need and more. The house is fully stocked. Bring your clothes and a toothbrush. I have never been to a VRBO before that was so well stocked. Beds were super comfy and everything is high end. Two minute walk to the beach. We enjoyed the upper deck and the ocean views. Weather was amazing! We visited all the local bakeries, the Crepe restaurant, and went Lobster Boating in Portland. So fun! Also, visited several of the local lighthouses and took the Trolley Tour. Marilys has a super book that she prepared that gives all the ins and outs of where to go. We used it religiously for where to eat and not to eat. We called it our "Dossier." LOL! We will be back! Thanks again!

Fantastic family beach house

Rooftop deck, comfortable beds, beautiful decor, friendly neighbors, and accommodating owners who left us a homemade bundt cake upon arrival. What more could you possibly want in a vacation house? This is a perfect beach house for a big family (or two!) or a group of friends, and comes well-stocked with everything you need from kitchen appliances to beach towels. It's an easy uber ride to the Old Port (20ish minutes) or a 5 minute walk to the nearby beach. Highly recommend!

Best VRBO ever! Great for families or friends.

The rooftop deck is beyond awesome. The mattresses were heavenly. The kitchen was stocked better than our home. The wonderful landlord (Marilys and her family) are extraordinarily accommodating and really care about your rental experience. (E.g., a great bunt cake was waiting for us and the kitchen is stocked with the basics.) Quiet neighborhood a short walk from the beach (and the house includes all the chairs, umbrellas and towels you could ask for). Furnished for comfort. In short, a wonderful place to stay with family or friends.

Amazing Beach House with ocean views!

I stayed at this house recently with a group of 11 friends & had an amazing time. It was our second time renting from Marilys, as we rented her other neighborhood home last fall. The owner was really responsive & great to deal with & she really tried to think of everything to make our stay comfortable & enjoyable. The house was very attractively furnished but also with a lot of obvious attention to the comforts of its guests. Several of us commented that we have never slept better. The mattresses were so comfortable & it was great to have so many large beds to share with good sheets & great pillows. She even put an extra twin bed in the master bedroom for us. The house looks brand new, with its recent renovation & apparent expansion. The breezes throughout the house were great & we especially enjoyed the rooftop deck & had a couple of casual meals up there. Watching the boats go by, especially the cruise ships, was really something. The kitchen & bathrooms are extremely well-equipped (basically everything you can think of) & she had a lot of chairs to sling on the shoulder & walk down to the beach with. The location was great. One block to the beach, a lot of good places to walk to for dinner & a couple of great bakeries, also. I would go back just to sleep on those beds again & wake up to those Scratch bagels & Cookie Jar donuts!

Wow. This is the best beach rental ever.

This house could not be more perfect for a family vacation. We recently spent 9 days there for our daughter's wedding and were completely comfortable. The owner is just lovely and so easy to work with and accommodating. She has outfitted the house with everything you could possibly imagine; all of the appointments are top quality and the beach-themed decorations added to the enjoyment. The roof-top deck was an added bonus; we did not anticipate how much we would use the comfortable furniture there to view the sunset. I love to cook and the kitchen did not disappoint: it was very well-set-up, thoughtfully furnished with pots, pans, and everything else you could ask for. The location is perfect also; a block from a lovely beach, 5 minute walk to Scratch Baking Co (we can recommend basically everything on their menu, especially the miche loaf) and easy access by car to Cape Elizabeth, downtown Portland and other locations. All in all, this house is just superlative and we cannot recommend it highly enough.

Amazing home for a big group

House was perfect for our group of 11 women. Super clean, well-stocked, everything we needed. Rooftop deck was amazing. Just minutes from the beach and an easy drive into downtown Portland. Marilys was super attentive and made sure we were all set up for a great long weekend. Highly recommend this home!

My husband, Robert, and I own three beautiful Vacation Rental homes in the wonderfully popular Willard Beach neighborhood (see other properties #903832 and #4019326) and another one just a few blocks away (See property #1660664). We live a short walk away from our 4 vacation homes homes and both work at home (this is my full-time occupation). We respect our guests' privacy but are always available to assist our guests with anything they might need.

We have always loved hosting friends and family in our own home and greatly enjoy hosting guests in our vacation homes.

We are huge fans of the designer who renovated this home and own another of her fantastically transformed homes (#903832). Her homes are loaded with character, charm, high-end appointments and are always thoughtfully designed. We began to follow the transformation of this home after buying the other one (VRBO #903832) and watched it unfold daily for over 11 months. We are beyond excited to move into it ourselves when our kids head to college. Until then, we are pleased to offer it to our guests for the fist time ever as a BRAND NEW vacation rental home starting August 2017.

Scratch is 3 blocks from the cottage and everything is fantastic! Great coffee bar and a huge array of breakfast pastries, their famous sourdough bagels and house made cream cheese. Extremely huge and super high-quality custom made deli sandwiches with the highest quality meats, salads, wines, cheeses, and the most highly-regarded cakes and many other dessert options, all sold by the piece or the slice.
