Constructed in 1960, this property holds a lot of historic value, from the 100 year old water wheel which greets you as you pull up the driveway to the walls and ceilings built with wood from old buildings being torn down in the mid 1900's (black walnut, cherry, ash, and cedar).

* Kitchen breakfast bar area seats up to 4 and designer round teak dining table seats up to 8 guests

* Screened porch with new wrought iron patio furnishings

* 6 person hot tub that overlooks creek

* 3 full bathrooms with travertine tile, red cedar walls & ceilings, glass block windows, new vanities & lighting

* 2 decks with patio furniture and patio grilling area with gas BBQ

About The Owner

My husband and I are both realtors and we live in the suburbs of Atlanta. We have 2 kids in elementary school.

The Owner purchased this lodge in 2006

Why The Owner chose Northwest High Country

We chose to buy in Ellijay because of how close it is to Atlanta and our home. We wanted a vacation home in the mountains to be able to escape to have a peaceful, relaxing weekend. This house captured us from the moment we first saw it. My husband spent over 3 months living here as he remodeled it.

What makes this lodge unique

Sometimes we visit with just ourselves...the kids will play in the creek all day as my husband and I sit under the shade of the pine trees in the front yard. We like to invite family and friends, and the home is so big we never feel cramped or crowded. Most of our guests are families/friends with children and many of them bring grandparents. Our home is very suitable for those who can't walk up or down stairs. All the living spaces are on the main level and there is only one small step down as you walk in the front door. Plus, there is a bed/bath on the main perfect for this type of guest. We just think the home is so unique and special with the water flowing underneath! It's a different experience, and we are glad to share it with our guests!

Realxing, with something for everyone!

  • 5 of 5

Eleven family members, ranging from ages 4 to 62, fit comfortably into this beautiful home! The younger members LOVED playing in the creek and exploring and hiking. The pool table and hot tub were a huge hit and the dining table was large enough for the all the adults to play games around in the evening. Everyone went tubing and sightseeing, and some played golf. As sited above - something for everyone. We have done this family vacation several times in the past and this home was rated 'THE BEST'! We would definately return to this home again!

Great Labor Day Weekend

  • 4 of 5

My family had a wonderful time this weekend. We enjoyed sitting around the fire pit talking, roasting marshmallows and making s'mores. We explored the creek and took a short walk in the area. There was plenty of room for the entire group. Some played board games together at the table while others played video games in another room. We had some problems with the water pressure, but it got worked out. We had problems connecting to the Wi-Fi, but we spent a great deal of time in the community so not having service was not that big of a deal. Overall, we made some lasting memories this weekend. We would definitely consided renting this property again.

We loved it!!

  • 5 of 5

It's hard to describe in such a few words how much my family and I loved this cabin! We rent cabins several times a year, and this is by far the nicest property that we have visited. The balcony overlooking the river is pure serenity. The crystal clear river is wonderful to splash in. I took some fantastic pictures while hiking upriver, behind the house while my family explored the area. We made use out the fire-pit outside in the evenings, but perhaps the most stunning sight is the night sky. Away from the pollution of city lights, the Milky Way is clearly visible. The clearing in front of the house makes this a perfect spot for setting up a telescope, but even without one so many stars can be seen with the naked eye.

This cabin is perfect for family gatherings, or families with children, it is very spacious and there is something for everyone to do. All the bathrooms, bedrooms and the kitchen are extremely clean. Overall I was very satisfied with the interior of the cabin. The view from the living room is BREATHTAKING. We are definitely coming back here, and I am bringing the rest of my family next time.

Prior to renting this cabin, I read a negative review on this thread, and I became a bit concerned. This is why in my review, I just want to point out that we had absolutely no problems with the septic tank. It should be common knowledge not to flush sanitary napkins, nor wet wipes down the toilet. Not only will one clog the pipes, but this is horrible for the environment!! The cabin is spotless, there are no bugs nor any kind of "cables nor cobwebs hanging everywhere". The owners were very friendly, and easy to communicate with.

We are definitely coming back to this place!

Wonderful mountain getaway

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 8 was very comfortable. The large living areas allow everyone to spend time together, but also have a quiet place to read a book alone. Both adults and kids enjoyed playing in the stream and the hot tub. There is a nice fire pit for roasting marshmallows and hot dogs. The kitchen was surprisingly well equipped. It's hard to capture it all with pictures. It was even better than we hoped in person. Brittany was very responsive and helpful throughout. We highly recommend staying here for your family vacation!

Our Family Loved This Place!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a four night stay with my family. The website pictures of this place don't do enough to describe this idyllic place for a family. There were 12 of us, including a baby, and everyone had a comfortable bed and plenty of room to spread out. The huge den, with a giant screen tv and pool table was the favorite hang out spot. But the kids also used the smaller den as well. The large dining table and bar could accommodate all of us for dinner when we ate in.

But the real draw of this place is the outside. Everyone went wading particularly up the stream behind the house. Old and young alike had a blast. We used the porches, the swing, the grill, the fire pit, and explored all the grounds. I had a photographer come up on Sunday evening for some family pictures and she fell in love with the place. There were so many perfect spots for the pictures and my personal favorite was on and in front of the huge water wheel.

The owners do a great job of communicating and making sure the house is "move in ready" upon arrival. We'll definitely return.

Fabulous!

  • 5 of 5

This home is everything you could ask for! Spacious, beautufully furnished, and in an idyllic setting. Beautiful rushing creek running under the middle of the house. Balconies on both sides of the house that overlook the creek. A bridge over the creek, a quaint double swing beside it as well as a wonderful firepit and chairs that made for fabulous evenings. We stayed the week of June 3. I'd go back every year if I could!
