Starfish is a lovely 2 bedroom/ 1 bathroom condo that feels like a cottage. Fully furnished with luxury linens and all the comforts of home. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to take advantage of our many farm to table markets. Barleans Fishery and Pleasant Valley Cheese Farm are just a few miles away. Not your average vacation rental. Leather furniture in the living room paired with beach rattan furniture in the study make for a sophisticated feel. A desk in the study provides a scenic view while working in this home away from home. The bathroom has a rain shower head and luxury bath linens. The bedroom has 2 closets, queen bed with luxury linens and a view of Terrell Creek and all the wildlife. While the back deck overlooks Terrell Creek for your morning coffee and sun, the front deck offers a sunset ocean view for your afternoon wine and people watching along Birch Bay Drive. Ideally located just steps from the beach.

Terrell Creek rises and falls with the tides and is home to many ducks, birds and the occasional otter. Birch Bay State Park is 1/4 mile away and easily accessible by walking.

Starfish is one of only 8 condos ideally located in charming Birch Bay. Birch Bay itself is a protected half moon bay with a gently sloping beach. There are not many places which boast a beach that, at low tide, has more than 1/2 mile of warm water wading, ideal for clamming and beach combing . World famous sunsets are the perfect setting for evening bonfires on the beach.

Enjoy the local flavor all within walking distance. Around the corner is the C-Shop with ice cream, homemade chocolates and pizza and nearby is the Bayside Cafe for lattes and quick sandwiches. Further down the beach there are many restaurants, live entertainment venues and Bay Center, a well-stocked convenience store.

There are hiking trails abound through the State Park, Point Whitehorn Preserve and many other nearby locations.

It is a short drive to local attractions: Drayton Harbour Oyster farm and brew pub, golf, spa, water-slides, miniature golf, go-cart track, hiking, restaurants, bars, the cannery museum, wine tours, local cheese and berry farms. There are many antique shops all throughout Whatcom County as well.

We are surrounded by many charming small towns, Blaine, Ferndale, and Lynden. Bellingham is a larger city 25 minutes away featuring brew pubs, wineries, historic Fairhaven, Alaska Ferry Terminal, Amtrak station and marinas. We have so many things to offer, we can't begin to list them all.

Perfection on the Bay

We were seeking accommodation for a month- Starfish provided us with everything we needed- comfort, ease of access, every possible household item, a very comfy bed, big fluffy towels and a wonderful welcome basket that even included a treat for our cat. Our host was always accessible and quick to respond. The location is perfect- a short walk along the beach to several restaurants, a state park, with easy access to Bellingham or Vancouver. In a word, Starfish is wonderful.

Great area to explore!

The property was just what we needed for a month long stay and the owner was wonderful to work with. We enjoyed exploring the small towns in the area and having time with family. We like to walk and found several places nearby, but major hiking was a bit of a drive.

Exceeded expectations!

We stayed at the Starfish for a month (along with our dog) and it was a delightful experience all around! prompt and courteous communication, well stocked home, fantastic location - lots of places to explore with the dog. The internet speed was fast for all our work needs and streaming. We would definitely come back! Strongly recommend for those considering long term stay.

Wonderful retreat by the water

My husband and I stayed in Ginger’s lovely Starfish home for about a month and really enjoyed our time. We worked from home full time and loved taking breaks to walk across the street to the beach or even just looking at the water from the front window. The internet was very fast and reliable for two people on frequent video calls. It was a joy monitoring the creek in the backyard, with almost daily encounters with precious otters, a heron, bald eagles and a belted kingfisher! The state park beach is down the street and a wonderful place to hang out. Ginger made my husband’s trip by arranging golf at the beautiful country club. The house is very clean and while “luxury linens” is a term frequently used on this app, it is truly the case here. Ginger has stocked the house very generously and makes you feel very at home. She is completely available, but not invasive and a lovely person all around. We loved going to local farms and picking berries and buying our food there. The only aspect that was less than perfect was the street noise during the day. But the windows are very soundproof, so it’s absolutely not an issue if doors and windows are closed. We loved our time in Birch Bay and are thrilled we found the Starfish to call home for a month.

Spring in birch bay

My fiancé and our dog loved our 3 month stay at starfish with ginger! The space was perfect for us and everything we could possibly need was provided. Ginger has really thought of everything to make a longer stay comfortable and feel like home. Her communication was outstanding. She was prompt and solved any issue, which was very few, quickly and efficiently. Being across the street from the bay was our favorite part. Beach access for fetch when the tide was low was our dogs favorite part. Walking through the town while the sun was setting made for such a relaxing and beautiful evening every night. Thank you Ginger! We will miss our temporary home in Birch Bay!

Perfect in Everyway

Staying at Starfish was relaxing and restoring. From the first communication with Ginger( she is awesome) the host its been perfect. The location in the heart of Birch Bay , luxury linens and robes made the experience so positive, just what we needed. The cottage was thoughtfully stocked with all we ever wanted and even extras for our pet. Want an amazing experience come stay.

Darling Bayside Cottage Lacks Nothing

I cannot imagine a better shelter for "sheltering-in-place" during the pandemic--a quiet, bayside community where I was able to commune with an abundance of birds on the creekside and watch beautiful sunsets from my front porch. The cottage is decorated tastefully and well-appointed. I lacked for nothing. And the best part? Ginger, the hostess. She was extremely welcoming and attentive in the best possible way.

A perfect vacation

This place is a gem. Starfish cottage is located across from the beach, and near some great little shops. We could run our dog for miles on the sandbars at low tide. The cottage is beautifully decorated, comfortable, and well equipped. Everything is like new. Ginger was an attentive and hospitable host and went the extra mile to help us have a great experience in every way. We travel a lot, but this was one of our best experiences ever.

True Hospitality

Ginger is a wonderful host. Extremely kind, professional, responsive and you can tell she really enjoys creating an enjoyable experience for her guests. She offers plenty of insights about the area, even tailoring recommendations to what she knows about her guests. The house is very clean and organized and has everything you would want or need for a short or extended stay. It's really nice to have a porch overlooking the river in the back and the beach just across the street in the front. Birch Bay is a quiet, restorative town, with Bellingham, a vibrant college town, only 20min south. Blue heron, bald eagles, mallard ducks and birds of all kind make for wonderful companions through your visit.

You could certainly tell the owner goes above and beyond for their guests! The cottage is immaculate, with a very warm and cozy beach theme. It is stocked with EVERYTHING you could possibly need, even a very nice gift basket with some awesome treats! The beds were very comfortable, with plush linens. I thought the robes and shower hair wraps were a nice touch! You can watch wild life all day from the front patio or the back patio. It's a real treat to have such a spectacular view all around you.

Amazing! A truly beautiful, relaxing place to stay, with every convenience included!

Starfish Cottage is a beautiful place, charming and comfortable. Ginger stocked it with everything we needed for our stay, with plenty of linens, pillows, kitchenware, and other supplies. The bedrooms are beautifully appointed, very luxurious! And the details impressed us, like playing cards, binoculars and local information... I had mentioned my interest in birdwatching, so several booklets about local birding opportunities were included! Ginger is extremely thoughtful and always ready to answer a question. We are well and truly spoiled, it will be tough to stay anywhere else!

Beautiful cottage!

We loved our stay at starfish so much that we're planning on going back next year!! The location is perfect and the cottage is beautiful. We loved sitting on the back porch for our meals and going to the beach everyday!! . Ginger was an amazing host who was available when we needed her!!
