This ocean front condo is situated at the end of Gap Head, one of the most beautiful and secluded spots in all of Rockport. There is no other property like this one. It is completely surrounded by the ocean, looking out over two islands, three active lighthouses and one stunning peaceful cove. The sun rises over Straightsmouth Island filling the living room with an impossibly golden light. Shortly after that lobster boats are amble through the 'gap'.
All this and quite simply, no people.
Time your stay for a full moon and watch it glide over the island. Moonlight illuminates the entire cove for the evening.
If you love the sound of waves crashing on the rocks, this is an incredible feature of Gap Head. If you leave the master bedroom door open you can hear the waves as you fall asleep.
Gap Head gets its own weather, too. The wind often whips around blowing fresh ocean air through the windows. All weather, waves, storms, rain and sun can be safely observed from the covered porch.
The entire condo was recently renovated with an eye toward making it open and light. It has been freshly painted, new furniture has been added and the kitchen and main bath were completely redone.
The kitchen redesign took its inspiration from restaurant kitchens. It's beautifully functional with a large custom stainless work space and ceramic cooktop. Open shelving in lieu of cabinets makes accessing ingredients and cookware fast and easy. Friends can join you at the island so you don't have to take yourself out of the action as your cooking. Other features of the design include stainless French door refrigerator and new Bosch dishwasher.
Moreover, it is completely open to the living room and the sea, its guaranteed you have never cooked or dined with a more extraordinary view.
The main bathroom is also brand new, just completed in 2017. Features granite and stone.
The condo has a master bedroom with a queen bed, large closet and two bureaus. From the bed you can see the ocean and the island with its working lighthouse. There is a door with access to the enormous porch.
Second bedroom is small but has a new queen bed that is also a sofa if you prefer a quiet sitting room. Bed is pretty comfortable. This room has its own private full bathroom.
The most amazing feature of the condo is an enormous (18x25') covered porch. Fully furnished with living room set and dining table. The cushy outdoor sofa and chairs await you and your morning coffee. Access to the porch is through the living room or master bedroom.
Ocean views from living room, porch, master bedroom and kitchen. Please note the condo is on the second floor of the house, which makes the views even better and exceptionally private.
Some special amenities provided with this rental include lobster pots, lobster crackers, butter dishes etc. Plus, beach chairs and towels, umbrella and beach table.
Most of the waterfront rentals this size are in town, on the harbor or on one of the town beaches. This is a place for folks who want to truly experience the ocean without distraction. Gap Head truly feels like lands end.
It is extremely rare to find a small, ocean-front rental of this quality: on a quiet peninsula, completely surrounded by the sea. Perfectly private and utterly stunning. You will be captivated.

A few notes about this property.
This is a condo in a 3-unit house. I rent to folks who are considerate and on the low-key side. If you're looking for a place to party and have lots of guests there are a lot of other great rentals in Rockport.
Gap Head is extraordinary for its sea sounds and captivating beauty and we're kind of protective of that.
Also, due the fact that the house is sited on the edge of a 30 foot rocky cliff, no children under 18 are allowed. No exceptions. And please, no climbing on rocks below. They're beautiful but dangerous.
Pets and smoking are absolutely not allowed.
Rockport is a charming, old New England fishing town. Rich with history, old houses and gorgeous gardens and beaches. Fabulous for walking, biking and more.
So much to do in Rockport:
The town center is exactly one mile from the house and you can get there via a spectacular walk all along oceanside roads and public path.
The town is full of galleries, quaint shops and restaurants. It's also the home of Motif 1, the most oft painted lobster shack in the country. Because it is so picturesque, Rockport has a long history with artists. A walk down our long wharf, Bearskin Neck is a must.
Garden Beach is halfway to town along the same ocean path (half a mile).
Good Harbor beach is 2 miles down the road.
The entire area is perfect for biking and walking, climbing and exploring.
Other things to see and do include Halibut State Park, Rockport's quarries, antiquing in Essex, eating fried clams in Ipswich, a variety of spectacular beaches, kayaking (rentals available in town). A new lighthouse museum is being created on the island directly across from the house. Rent a kayak in town and go check it out.
Cape Anne and historic Gloucester offer even more to do. And, historic Salem is 15 miles away.
People who have been here come back year after year. If you have never been to Rockport or Gap Head I promise you will be captivated.
